Here’s a lovely story to get your dirty little minds working. Seems that an appeals court has thrown out a prostitution case in which an informant in Pennsylvania engaged in government funded sex. Prostitution charges were thrown out when it was determined the man went back four times, was given money for sex by troopers plus another $180 dollars for his trouble. Hey, where can I get a gig like that?
The incident happened in Allentown, Pennsylvania; government funded sex apparently is grounds for having a prostitution charge dropped. If any of you out there are running a bordello, over or under the table, try and make sure your clients are being funded by local law enforcement.
The accused prostitute, Sun Cha Chon, works at a Shiatsu spa where she allegedly engages in more than just massages. But no worries for Ms. Chon, all charges against her were dropped when her “client” kept coming back to the trough with tax payer dollars.
The informant in this case made the initial contact with Pennsylvania police, saying he had been propositioned at the Shiatsu spa for sex. Maybe it was his plan all along, maybe he was a little strapped for cash. Or maybe he was married and figured the “cops made me do it” argument would keep him out of hot water with his wife. Who knows? From the Daily Item in Pennsylvania:
“It is difficult to imagine how this informant could have been so offended, and yet proceed to engage in oral and sexual intercourse with the two women in this case and laugh about it with the investigating troopers after each occasion,” wrote Judge John T. Bender for the three-judge Superior Court panel.
I’m with the judge on that one.
The Lehigh County judge said the man was sent back four times to partake in what he called a “smorgasbord of sexual activity”. That paints a pretty mental picture, now doesn’t it? Unfortunately for authorities in Pennsylvania, government funded sex isn’t the way to take down a madam.

The story makes no sense to me and visiting a prostitute is not something I would be excited about.

Since this is an open thread, let me suggest the health care debate is the current issue before the American people.
Here are several links to provide food for thought:

Is this the kind of govt imposed health care YOU want ?

Tort Reform
Many believe that medical malpractice tort reform would do more than any other measure to reduce healthcare costs ?
Why won’t the Democrats include tort reform in their bills ?

Hey Tin V - Read this:
http://www.nytimes.com/2009/11/05/opinion/05kristof.html?em
THIS is what we have now, bureaucratically run health care - by profit making corporate executives.
Is that what YOU want?

Gil,
Anything that I read in the NYTimes I take with a grain of salt. The NYT is a leftist rag that shills for the democratic party. The statistics quoted are true but they are cherry picked. I can provide other statistics that show our system has some good points over other countries.
I read YOUR linked article, did you read mine ?
As for profits, the profit margins of the insurance companies are quite LOW.
Can our system be improved ? I believe it can. Do I want Government MANDATING that I must SPEND $15,000 on my money to buy health insurance ?
Hell no.
Lets have a reasoned rational discussion.
I will answer your questions if you answer mine.
My first 2 questions are:
1. Do you believe it is our obligation to provide health insurance to illegal immigrants ?
2. Do you think medical malpractice tort reform is a good idea ?

breast cancer is one area where the USA ranks highest in terms of survival rates. this article lists some other areas, some we do well on and some we don’t

The Democrats always try to demonize profits. The profit margin for the health care industry is a very modest 3.3%

Apparently the vote is tonight at 10-1030 in the house. Pelosi must be confident she has the votes. We shall see.

If people take the Times with a grain of salt - how about Fox News? I assume everyone here trusts them.
It appears that they have reported that the bill introduced by the Republicans would only insure 3 million people over 10 years according to the CBO.
http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2009/11/05/house-gop-health-reduce-uninsured-million/
The House bill cuts the deficit by over 100 billion and insures 36 million people.

Oh well to could play at that game than.

Prostitution should be legalized. Yet government funded prostitution is a little creepy. I mean really I know if poor people could get a little rapes in society would go down, but still it’s creepy.
November 7th, 2009 at 6:25 pm
I don’t like governor Rendel, because I feel he’s useless as governor and he said the only way government can create jobs is through infrastructure claiming both sides agree with that. When I’m a Republican and I say federally backed infrastructure projects just raise our deficit and our useless in the long run.
November 7th, 2009 at 6:28 pm
Webster:
The bill republicans introduced is to get some people insured, but the real goal is to cut cost. Also do you believe they’ll actually put work into writing this. When they know the Dems will just cut it in half and laugh them out of the building.
November 7th, 2009 at 6:31 pm
Webster:
Also why is it government job to insure people and give them money. Your giving the right to seek happiness in America, but nobody ever said you had the right to happiness. Welfare makes us week, because it teaches people they don’t have to work for food and they can feed off of other like parasites.
November 7th, 2009 at 6:35 pm
Webster:
Government should only tax to keep you safe. Not so they can give money to people who don’t deserve it. I mean we have welfare yet we can’t even ask them to work 40 hours a work at some volunteer job. Why do you support welfare and socialized medicine?
November 7th, 2009 at 6:40 pm
Webster:
Yes the public option will lead to Socialized medicine. I mean if your already paying for it with your tax dollars. Why would anyone stay on there current plan. I mean they say it will give the insurance companies competition. Yet insurance companies can’t compete with government. Think about it government can go into all the debt they want, tax people so they can put there insurance at low prices, and they can tell the competitors how much they can charge. So yah it sounds like fair competition.

I want obama to go on TV versus a Republican to debate healthcare reform before this goes to the Senate. I could see an hour and a half of obama vs Huckabee who’s a healthcare expert to debate this. This is how they should do things now. I want two people on stage asking each other questions about the bill to get there point across. I only say Huckabee, because I know he’d win and make obama look like the idiot he is.
November 7th, 2009 at 6:45 pm
We’re all screwed if this bill gets passed.
November 8th, 2009 at 2:57 am
A government funded screwing? Hmmmmm!!! Put this on the agenda right after Health Care and Crap and Tax.

Oh no!!! Both Tim and Charles? This is going to be a long month.
Thanks arriba!
November 8th, 2009 at 9:31 am
Charles:
The bill the Rs put forth contains all the ideas they have been talking about. The seem like good ideas, but don’t do enough. What additional ideas do you propose that would expand coverage further?
Just tax credits? The government pays me, so I can pay another company, so that company can actually go pay the people that provide me my health care. That’s the only other idea the reps have.
There was never a serious debate about health care and that’s why we have the bill we do. We spent the whole time trying to determine what the facts where and never got into analysis. The argument the entire time was, “will this turn into socialism?”
We never even look at options like what Sweden does. They have private only, but regulate the crap out of it. What about only paying doctor salaries? This stuff was never asked and that’s we have the choices we do. Bloated, but gets the job done vs efficient, and doesn’t do enough.
I’m not that thrilled with the Dems bill either, but there doesn’t seem to be a good alternative to expand coverage.
I don’t buy the slippery slope theory. That’s why we have two parties. If the dems get to aggressive in pushing this forward they’ll get kicked out office and Reps will real us back in. See welfare reform in the 90s. CBO says only 6 million people will adopt the public option.
Also, how do you explain the postal service, higher education (public vs private universities), trash collection, airplane parts, ambulance services, high school education, and many other industries being good examples of public private competition.

wow, you’re certainly going for the gold this month, timv. Good luck.
