Interestingly enough, although not surprisingly, the GOP establishment is supporting a democrat light candidate in Dede Scozzafava in New Yorks 23rd Congressional District; she’s pro-abortion, pro-big government and pro everything liberals stand for. The Republican machine is making the mistake that got them into the predicament that they’re in; trying to appeal to what they “think” will win, instead of pushing a conservative message. Entering the fray, Sarah Palin endorses Doug Hoffman, the one true conservative in this race.
Via her Facebook page, where Gov. Palin likes to communicate most these days, she wholeheartedly endorsed Doug Hoffman for New York’s 23rd Congressional District. The Republican establishment can’t be happy about this.
Dede Scozzafava, despite being endorsed by Newt Gingrich and taking tons of GOP money has not warmed to the heart of Conservatives throughout the district and the country. Most conservatives see the GOP’s backing of Scozzafava as more of the same ole’ same ole’ that handed the radical left wing control of the White House and the Congress.
Sarah Palin’s endorsement of Doug Hoffman will surely be a test for her; a test to see if her name carries as much weight as I and a lot of others thinks it does. Backing Hoffman means going against the Republican establishment. But it also means standing for Conservative principles; the one thing lacking in the GOP right now.
Another interesting tid-bit to this story, Mike Huckabee, the man some believe to be the heir apparent to the GOP nomination for President, has refused to publically endorse Doug Hoffman. I’d love to hear from you Huckabee supporters out there why the Huckster won’t throw in behind Hoffman.
The GOP backing Dede Scozzafava unsettlingly shows us where the mind of the Republican party is. On the flip side, as Sarah Palin endorses Doug Hoffman, she triumphantly shows us where her mind is.

So your saying the GOP is starting to move a little more towards the center, or even the left? You mean to say that some conservatives are breaking out of the cookie-cutter mold? I knew there was some gray matter in there!

But if Palin had been elected, she would be a Republican. So basically, she is stabbing the party in the back right? If she would have won, she would still be republican. She lost, so now she is splitting with the party. Hypocrite.

After Palin resigned, she stated quite clearly that she would be spending time trying to get conservative candidates elected. She has kept her word, a lot more than I can say for most politicians. I read that since her endorsement Hoffman’s campaign has taken in over $100,000. I just donated to his campaign, and the only reason I did so is because of Palin’s endorsement.

Sarah’s the bomb and she’s keeping to her word. Conservatism trumps party.
Have to go now. I have a check to write and it’s not to the RNC!!!
October 24th, 2009 at 5:30 am
I haven’t checked out the RNC rules lately, but there might be some rules they have to follow for supporting folks. Sarah has every right to support who she wants - that is what makes politics so interesting.
And for those of you Dems who seem to think that only Dems have grey matter, your party wrote the book on intraparty bickering.

Doing The Right Thing…
Sarah Palin announced Thursday that she is endorsing Doug Hoffman over the Republican candidate Dede Scozzafava in the New York 23rd district race. Doing the right thing isn’t always easy and it isn’t always popular. I for one praise Palin……

One thing’s for sure. The Hoffman candidacy, no matter what the outcome, has opened up a gigantic Pandora’s Box. Consider that for decades the Libertarian Party has been clammoring for Republican support for their 3rd party ballot line candidates in such special circumstance elections, (i.e. the Shelly Sekula-Gibbs for the TX Tom DeLay seat in 2006 fiasco).
Republicans have said all along, “oh no, no, no, we can never back a 3rd party effort,” even when a Libertarian is the only one on the ballot against a Democrat.
Now, they’ll never, ever be able to make that claim again. Hoffman has cleared the way for future Libertarian Party support from the Republican Party. And remember, the Libertarian Party runs an average of 800 to 1,000 candidates nationwide each election cycle.

This New York 23rd Congressional District political contest is a referendum on the legitimacy of and the viability of the GOP. This race will establish a baseline example of what to expect during the 2010 election cycle.
To date, the GOP has failed miserably to develop a winning strategy for this closely watched New York race.
Dierdre Scozzafava is, de facto, an extreme left liberal. Scozzafava is more left liberal than her opposition Democratic party candidate, Bill Owens. Amuses me Owens is critiquing Scozzafava for her being too liberal.
Brass Tacks here is the GOP is out of touch with its once conservative base of support. Many, perhaps most voter registered Republicans now consider themselves to be independent conservatives. A good number of “Blue Dog” democrats are also thinking of themselves as independent conservatives which is a backlash against this left liberal extremism of Barack Obama and his boys.
This New York 23rd district race is the first test of Michelle Steele’s “New GOP”. Rather clear Steele and his boys have miserably failed this test. Appears to me the GOP is marginalizing itself through this ineffective and uninformed leadership of Steele and his boys, all of whom are wearing Republican Halloween costumes looking for trick or treat candy from the Democratic party.
At risk of looking a fool, my prediction is Hoffman will win this election setting into motion events which will marginalize the GOP to a point of going the way of dinosaurs; extinct.
No doubt in my mind, the GOP will return home with an empty Halloween candy bag; their trick will not earn them a treat.

Here’s why Huckabee will not endorse, in his own words on Cavuto’s show/FOX.
Huck still won’t endorse in NY-23
Mike Huckabee just finished talking with Neil Cavuto, where he once again confirmed he’s staying out of NY-23.
CAVUTO: There seems to be a private little war going on in the Republican party…. Sarah Palin is endorsing him [Hoffman], even though the Republican nominee is clearly hurt by his presence.
Where do you stand on this? Sarah Palin’s arguing ‘My conservative values matter more than my party loyalty’.
Where do you stand?
HUCKABEE: Well, I think Doug Hoffman’s views certainly represent more closely with mine. I’m not taking a role in that with my PAC, simply because I feel like it would be inappropriate for me, at this point, mainly because I’m already speaking to the Conservative Party next week.
But it is not an endorsement speech. It is an awards speech, and I don’t want to get the two confused.
CAVUTO: Well, the Conservative Party loves him.
HUCKABEE: And they should because he represents not only what the Conservative Party stands for, but what most Republicans stand for. He’s pro-life. He’s pro-Second Amendment. He’s against TARP. So from the standpoint…
CAVUTO: … [interrupting] They seem to be doing like a Maginot Line here, Governor. That it’s either you’re with the conservative or you’re not. Either you’re with the Republican or you’re not. One of those kind of deals.
HUCKABEE: Well, I don’t think a lot of people are saying principles are more important than party.
CAVUTO: Do you?
HUCKABEE: Well, ultimately, yeah. I’m never going to support somebody who does not believe that every human life has value and meaning. I’m not going to support people who’d say that TARP is one of those great, wonderful things. I think I have a right and responsibility to only support people, who hold to principles above party and the politics of winning and losing.
CAVUTO: Interesting. All right, Governor, always good to see you.

I totally agree with EMERALD.
This is also a very PREDICTABLE move on Palin’s part. All hell broke loose when Gingrich supported Scozzafava, Palin (Malek) seized on this. Palin doesn’t care about YOU or ME, it’s all a means to the end.
I could see it coming.
The Republican party will not survive this. They turned on Palin, so now Palin turns on them. All pawns in Princess Palin’s dreamworld. So are you ALL, just pawns for the pretty selfish princess.
October 24th, 2009 at 2:03 pm
I think Palin is positioning herself to dump the republican establishment and to start either a new party or a remake of the repubs to a more fundamental conservative party. She seem to have a strategy. someone is going to have to lead the repubs at some point and remake “a party” that has a committed base.

“They turned on Palin, so now Palin turns on them.”
They didn’t only turn on Palin, they turned on the whole conservative base. Palin was a staunch conservative who was picked to balance the ticket for the aisle crossing McCain. Unfortunately, McCain was too senile to remember why he chose her.
If the Republicans want to establish a new set of values for the party they’re more than welcome. I’ll continue looking for candidates that reflect my values. If they’re not Republicans, so be it.
