Today Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu gave a rousing speech to the United Nations and questioned the body’s legitimacy and their willingness to give any attention to Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
In dramatic fashion, Netanyahu used visual aides and reminded the UN and the world of the war that would send over 6 million Jews concentration camps and eventually their death. Among other notable quotes he said:
“To those who gave this Holocaust denier a hearing, I say on behalf of my people. … Have you no shame? Have you no decency? . . . What a disgrace. What a mockery of the charter of the United Nations”
Here is video of his speech.
Netanyahu Slams UN
I agree with his sentiment in this speech. While it was admirable for some countries to get up and walk away, the fact that this little man Dinnerjacket has a forum at all is a joke. The fact that any of these dictators and thugs have the gall to come to the United Nations and lecture us about freedom, equality and Democracy is almost too much to bear. It is a mockery of any decent person’s fundamental sense of justice that this kind of demagoguery is allowed at all.
Can anyone tell me why any peace-loving, freedom-loving country would deign to give Chavez, Castro, Kadaffi or the Dinnerjacket the time of day, much less sit through their reckless diatribes at the United Nation.
Netanyahu is right, to allow this crap is an affront to the entire United Nations Charter. The whole body has lost all it’s purpose. It is nothing more then an excuse to have extravagant junket trips to different locations around the world, mostly on the United States dime.
Ironically, the state that the UN hates the most is clearly Israel. Israel contends with constant bombings and missile attacks from the Palestinians, yet Israel is the country condemned for their settlements (which are perfectly within their rights). Up is down, black is white and good is bad. Just another day at the UN.

I saw Netanyahu’s speech today. It was fantastic, dynamic an d bold. He called to the UN on the carpet and all nations that gave Ahmadinejad legitimacy.
He also called Nations/the UN out on why they are afraid to back up Israel (do you think it will stop with the Jews?). And told them to stand with Israel/the 21st century or the 9th century, with civilization or barbarism. He told them they couldn’t give it long thoughtful consideration, but had to make a decision on which side they stand. He said Israel needs to know now who is with them.
He was good!!!!

Sorry – didn’t mean to write a book – I just kept wondering if we could photoshop him a birth certificate and make him President. We NEED a strong president like that right now in these tumultuous times.

I don’t know if anyone caught Dick Morris on BOR last night, but he had some interesting thoughts. He’s friends with quite a few of the Israel leaders, including Nety. His basic take was that he had been told by Israeli leaders that if the US doesn’t stop Iran, Israel will be forced to act. They will not allow Iran to have nuclear weapons. Obama thinks this is a giant game of chicken, but it’s not. This is real and if Israel strikes unilaterally it’s going to get bad, for all of us.

I didn’t see that Bryan – but I believe it’s probably true. Obama has been embarrassing at the UN (as usual) – he obviously is trying to community organize the world with little or no understanding of the dynamics in place and the dire consequences of his action (and inaction).
Netanyahu obviously heard Obama’s speech throwing Israel under the bus, and was telling the UN (and Obama) that the time is now.
Israel has to act in their self-defense. They have no choice. Aham-mama-jihad has made not secret of what his intentions are. He’s been bragging about it for years and the world just tells him he’s naughty and and does nothing while he builds nukes, power and kills dissenters in his own country and gets ever closer to carrying out nuclear attacks on Israel (and the West).
Netanyahu is right. No time for Obama’s ‘thoughtful contemplation’ and inaction. Events are unfolding. Something has to be done or the consequences are almost unthinkable.

Finally, someone who tells it like it is.

I heard Nety is really from Kenya, so I think that qualifies him

Plus, he’s really quite handsome.

and smart.
He understands that this is about fear. The West is afraid of the islamists and will do anything to appease them – including letting them destroy Israel.
Israel has no choice but to act and act decisively. They might as well, they will be blamed anyway.

His speech today was powerful! Almost made me cry…he was so full of real emotion. And yeah, Beth…he is a handsome dude
Too bad he has class and we won’t catch him in a speedo with his shirt off. ;-p

I hoe Netanyahu was the president of the United States of America. He is a person with a high moral standard and says what he sees and not the other way around.

impeach obama!!!!!!!!
(well that is what the dems would have said if bush was trying to influence the reports of generals in the field)

This is, of course, the speech the Jerk off-in-Chief should have made, but alas, courage in politicians is virtually non-existent in this country.

well even Queen Noor of Jordan, who is highly respected here in the States, wouldn’t criticise gaddafi during an interview this week. She just said he had ” a lot on his mind>” frankly the UN represents a world with some countries and peoples who hate each others guts, but see advantages to participating, money, fame, and fortune. Then there are the serious countries trying to make the world a more civl prosperous place. Its pretty natural really. I stronly suppport not only the UN but its NGO’s and various organizational efforts to bring help, relief, education, and communication to distant places of our world. Sure some of it is the funny ranch, but overall its been very benificial to the US. It helped us greatly in both the korean war and Iraq frankly. we don’t always get our way. but it saved some american lives no doubt and sped up some processes saving us money and time. in return we get to watch gaddafi thug off an inssane speech and ahmaddinajad lie, for all the public to see. Is that so bad? Netanyahu is very conservative and frankly can be annoying and manipulative too, but he is boxed in a difficult part of the world and can bring focus and support to issues as well. I think he was laying the ground work, as we have now, to portray iran’s government as seriously flawed and in violation of so many things that it makes a clear path to justifying destroying their bomb making capability. surprisingly obama came out strangly against iran pushing it back on its feet for a change. I always felt bush was too soft on iran, and picked the wrong war. There is a new dynamic afoot, and very against this current iranian government, and gaddfi has certified himself as a kook. The UN made all of this conveiniently possible, plus brought in many diplotmatic dollars to NYC and the federal treasury. If you just go to the UN you will see UN dollars at work locally in NYC. The whole area is really nice and basically foreign funded.
