Mediocrity and incompetence, in the form of former president Jimmy Carter, is now fanning the racism flame in what can only be a last ditch effort by democrats to deflect loud and vocal criticism of Barack Obama and his policies, particularly the all-but-dead healthcare reform bill.
Misery loves company and Jimmy Carter apparently needs some attention again. Could the democrats actually want the worst president in history defend the policies of what will become the worst presidency in our history? I guess so. Any criticism of the The One these days is rooted in racism - we do, in case you didn’t know, have our first black president. Now, with 55% of Americans disapproving of Barack Obama’s health care plan, they trot out Carter to pile on with the racism stuff. It’s got to be a joke if it weren’t so serious.
Jimmy Carter, like many leftists in this country, is eager to label any dissent against the president as racist. Does he have a sixth sense about these things? An acute ability to spot racism even when common sense proves otherwise? Hardly. He, himself, is a flaming anti-semite.
Believing that ‘racial politics’ has played a role in some of the opposition of Obama policies, Carter said this:
“I think an overwhelming portion of the intensely demonstrated animosity toward President Barack Obama is based on the fact that he is a black man, that he’s African-American,” Carter told “NBC Nightly News.” “I live in the South, and I’ve seen the South come a long way, and I’ve seen the rest of the country that shares the South’s attitude toward minority groups at that time, particularly African-Americans.”
“That racism inclination still exists, and I think it’s bubbled up to the surface because of belief among many white people — not just in the South but around the country — that African-Americans are not qualified to lead this great country. It’s an abominable circumstance, and it grieves me and concerns me very deeply,” Carter said.
Sincere debate is apparently no longer recognized by the disgraceful Jimmy Carter. He has stupidly played into the hands of an orchestrated campaign - playing hardball with the race card - to progress a failing Obama agenda.
When President Bush was in office, how often did Jimmy Carter and the lamestream media speak out about the horrible hate speech directed at him over eight years? Do you remember all the revolting anti-Bush posters such as the one with a gun being held to President Bush’s head or the movie made about his assassination? All clearly the fantasies of the insane left. Did anyone with a bully pulpit rail on the left about all the horrible signs, slogans and violence that marked the many marches protesting President Bush and his administration? Nope.
Frankly I don’t care what color, sex, or religion the President is. I care about his policies and his intentions for this country. Period. Ignorance and stupidity - Jimmy Carter? Please. Just. Go. Away.
We have photos and a video below that you can watch of Jimmy Carter claiming that it is indeed Racism that plays a part in opposition to Obama.

My suggestion would be to remember this before we vote for another person of color for the presidency.
If their position is that every time you disagree with a person of color, you’re a racist, then they are the ones that are not ready for a black president.

Oh yeah, Jimmy Carter is a mindless Jackass!!!
September 16th, 2009 at 11:23 am
carter’s a clown, and perhaps the worst president in my lifetime. Given that, the sooner we can get colonel carny to quit appearing and go back to hiding in south carolina the better. Maybe south carolina offers discount trips to argentina where he can hide until he fades from memory.

If your referring to Joe Wilson, arriba, I think the man has every right in the world to defend himself.
I also don’t have a racist bone in my body and am getting sick and tired of hearing the charge of racism applied to anybody that doesn’t agree with this radical, leftist, poser who seems hell bent on running this country into the ground.
Obama used the bully pulpit to lie to the American people and he was called on it. Should we just allow him to treat us all like Joe the plumber.

Everybody has the right to defend themselves, fm. The problem is that this guy is the living caricature of a racist. The more I find out about him, the more I wish he’d go away.
He was just grandstanding at the speech. If you listen to it again, he said it once, but it was mostly drowned out by booing/cheering. So he repeated it again. Then, like the cowardly neck that he is, he scurried out of the house before anyone could question him.
otoh, it ill serves either obama or the dems to imply that anyone who opposes him is a racist. Theyre just gonna make indies who voted for him regret their choice.

‘The problem is that this guy is the living caricature of a racist. The more I find out about him, the more I wish he’d go away.’
hi arribe
what information have you found that shows you Joe Wilson is a racist? i haven’t found any.

I agree. Racism by inference is exactly the same as racism by implication. Nobody is more prejudicial than the guy who sees everything in racial terms, no matter what group he thinks he belongs to.
It should be pointed out that this stuff isn’t unique to the left though. Anybody hear Rush L’s “analysis” of the bus incident in St. Louis? His basic premise is that now that we have a black president, black folks are ganging up on whites and cheering each other on. Disgusting.

I’ve read the article and several others that are also short on facts.
Joe Wilson once belonged to a southern group called the SVC. The group has since splintered into several factions, some radical, some benign. Every article I’ve read branches off into a rant about the leader of the radical group. A fellow named Lyons. None of the articles specify whether Joe Wilson ever belonged to the radical sect or whether he still belongs to the group at all.
Using this logic, we can only assume that Senator Byrd is also still a racist.

Does congressman Bobby Rush’s former membership in the Black Panthers make him a racist?
September 16th, 2009 at 12:31 pm
ok, he’s not a racist. He’s an all around great guy, a man among men. What about the thurmond part? You’re right, there are a ton of cites that list different things. I just thought that would be enough.
When did I ever defend byrd or rush, fm? My point is that this guy is not the person the republicans should be circling.
September 16th, 2009 at 12:41 pm
oh, and for those that dont go to the link, SVC is the abbreviation for Sons of the Veterans of the Confederacy. Nobody who is a bigot would ever be a member of that group, I guess.
September 16th, 2009 at 12:44 pm
What about Thurmond? He worked for Thurmond making Thurmond his mentor. Thurmond had a biracial child and apparently an agreement that he would provide support in exchange for secrecy. When his love child was strutted out after his death, it could have only been for one reason. To make Thurmond look like a hypocrite after his death. Wilson took exception to that.
This is not unlike what the right did to Ted Kennedy after his passing. Ask them how they feel about that.
September 16th, 2009 at 12:44 pm
11- Hey Ron what about Thurmond? I was a transplant from the north and for 5 years lived in SC, I met Strom. The guy did his work for his constituents. He apologized for his actions as a segregationist. Strom Thurmond was a product of his times, who managed to change with them. He represented ALL South Carolinians. What we don’t need is ANOTHER Italian buying into southern stereotypes and telling us who should or should not be in the party.
And I will tell you this Ron, when I was there in the early to mid 80’s race relations were better than they were in say Massachusetts. White and black are both poor for the most part in SC.
September 16th, 2009 at 12:49 pm
I’ve never attacked thurmond. In the modern era, I think he was one of the best senators in the country for about 20 years, until health problems overtook him. He never denied his child, and supported her I think from the time she was a baby, and helped her get into college. He, as knova said, provided both excellent constituency service to ALL citizens of the state and hired a number of AA aides.
September 16th, 2009 at 12:50 pm
knova, you misunderstood my reference above to thurmond. I was getting at wilson’s attack on his daughter that was briefly discussed in the link.
September 16th, 2009 at 12:51 pm
Italian? Huh? Where did that come from?
September 16th, 2009 at 12:51 pm
I dont defend much about massachusetts, that’s lisab’s job.
September 16th, 2009 at 12:53 pm
Sons of the Veterans of the Confederacy.
Sounds to me like a group that honors the southern veterans of the Civil War. What’s the problem with that? The Japanese have temples to their veterans of WWII. What? The losers can’t honor their war heroes?
Stop connecting the Confederacy with slavery arriba. Many southern sympathizers will tell you it was a war about trade and economics, not slavery.
September 16th, 2009 at 12:57 pm
gee whiz, fm. Ok, svc is a great organization. How about the rebel flag thing, where wilson was one of the few republicans in sc who wouldnt vote to move it.
Maybe we just differ on what makes someone a bigot or a racist. I believe the evidence is pretty clear…you believe the opposite.
September 16th, 2009 at 1:02 pm
Not to change the subject but I found a panaramic picture of the 9/12 crowd taken from the top of the Capitol Building. Massive!!!

OK. It was a war about trade and economics — trade and economics that were completely dependent on slave labor and brutal dehumanization.
September 16th, 2009 at 1:13 pm
I’m not saying that the SVC is a great organization now arriba. What I’m saying is that you can’t connect Joe Wilson to what it became.
Tie him into the radical factions and show me that he’s still a member and I’ll gladly see your point.
September 16th, 2009 at 1:16 pm
Yes Rhayader, but Lincoln declared war on all territories that had slavery and didn’t agree with the union. If you held slaves and sided with the union, that was ok.
Sounds like more than a slave issue to me.
September 16th, 2009 at 1:22 pm
Yeah, from Lincoln’s standpoint, the main threat was secession and the inherent political and economic fallout, not necessarily the practice of slavery.
But I thought we were talking about the south. The confederacy absolutely was intent on maintaining, protecting, and even strengthening the unforgivable practice of slavery.
I’ve lived in NC for about a year now, after 25 years of living in upstate NY. I’m astonished at the unthinking loyalty and respect people show for a group of states that unleashed one of the worst instances of human rights abuse in recorded history.
