We all know about the statements on Fox and Friends by Glenn Beck that have caused such a stir. And we know about the subsequent Glen Beck boycott that has taken place since then, the result of which is several sponsors switching time slots on Fox News. What is just starting to surface is a bit more sinister. It appears that the group Color of Change, founded by Van Jones an Obama czar may be behind the boycott.
Van Jones a self proclaimed communist who was appointed Green Jobs Czar in March is the founder of Color of Change. The group has applied pressure to Glenn Beck’s sponsors; it seems to have worked for the time being. Progressive Insurance, Geico, and Proctor and Gamble have all pulled ads from Glenn Becks time slot on the Fox News channel.
A Fox News spokesperson said the ads have only been moved, stating that no revenue has been lost in the Glenn Beck boycott by Color of Change. Color of Change says that it is using it’s over 600,000 members to petition Beck sponsors to pull ads. Could this have anything to do with Glenn Beck releasing information several weeks ago about the group’s founder Van Jones?
The left-wing nutroots have seemingly dealt a blow to Glenn Beck on this one; but just how far will a Glenn Beck boycott take them? RedState.com has tried to employ the tactic of a counter boycott here, giving info on the companies who are currently allowing the left to bully them into dropping Glenn Beck.
Newsmax is reporting that Executive Director of Color of Change James Rucker made it abundantly clear that their goal is to silence Glenn Beck, period. From Newsmax:
“It’s preposterous and absurd,” Rucker says of Beck’s opinion. “It’s insulting to black Americans; and it corrupts honest debate. Anyone who uses such a platform to spew such vitriol, whether Glenn Beck or anyone else, has no place on the air, and we at Color Of Change would use every resource available to us to remove corporate sponsorship from their platform.”
Do what you think is best, I’ve never been a proponent of boycotts; that’s more of a left-wing thing. If I like your product I’ll buy it, if not I won’t. If you feel so inclined drop a letter to these sponsors and tell them there may be a backlash due to the Glenn Beck boycott; if not attack it how you see fit. One way or another, the left-wing fascists need to know we won’t be bullied into silence.
The Glenn Beck boycott has been effective, but we need Glenn Beck’s voice; he speaks the truth. And truth is at a premium these days.

I think it’s time to shop for insureance. Allstate sounds good. Shopping for an American owned insureance company not geiko… time for the CONSUMERS “US” to push back.
Liberals Fascists have it so wrong. we arent the party of no. WE ARE THE PARTY OF “HELL NO” !
I do believe they underestimate the AMERICAN part of AMERICA. WE THE PEOPLE!
WE WONT BACK DOWN! hey OBAMA thanks for the push start we got it from here. UNITED WE STAND AGAINST TYRANNY

I’m not much into boycotts myself so I thought in a different direction.
I have insurance with Nationwide and thought perhaps I should contact them and suggest they advertise on Beck since Geico and Progressive have left the field wide open and Beck has a large audience.
But then I assume the advertising professionals for Fox or Beck will make that pitch if it would be effective.
August 15th, 2009 at 4:13 am
I can’t wait for the next Geico or Progressive junk mail sales pitch to hit my mail box. I’ll enjoy using their “no postage necessary” envelopes to let them know how I feel about their actions.
August 15th, 2009 at 4:27 am
flyingmonkey, I love to do that especially when I get them from the New York Times.
I always send them a little note informing them “You couldn’t pay me to read your rag” .. on their postage!
August 15th, 2009 at 5:20 am
Beck is my favorite Fox News guy.
August 15th, 2009 at 5:40 am
So one of Obama’s Soros Funded cronie’s has targeted another voice that dares to contradict the party line… yawn. Why is a former convict; instrumental in the LA riots, an avowed communist even placed in a position of power by Mr. Obama? I guess no one in the media really cares. Oh, and if they do… attack them.

what a shame that these companies would cut there ad’s we will not let them shut down our cable shows as fox is the only news that tells the truth
yes we know when watching where they stand but we agree, if we allow this to happen we shut down free speach, I love Glen Beck and i will continue to watch his show no matter what…They better not go after O’reilly and Hannity . why not cut off Keith Oberman he is disgusting and rachael Maddow or whatever her name is they disgust me and i wont even watch there news ever i havent watched anything but Fox and sometimes CNN it depends on what they say if they start giving the false information out than i switch channels
if they attempt to shut down fox we the people will donate money to keep it running, thats when i will rise up and get involved in this and hope my fellow friends and family will also and than they will tell there friends and so on and so on, This democratic party run by Obama and his cronies are a disgrace who are these Czars did we move to russia ?? are we still the United states of america home of the free and the brave

Notice…
These sponsors have not taken away their dollars form Fox News, have they?
Beck is not hurt by this, nor is Fox news. If these sponsors had the nads, they would pull their dollars from Fox, altogether. That’s when they can declare a “true boycott victory”.
They are simply having it both ways. Splitting the baby, so to speak.
They are not stupid, Fox gives them maximum exposure, Fox is number 1, and so is Beck.
They tried this on Rush 15 years ago, and it only boosted his popularity.
Beck is an icon, because he speaks the truth, and backs it up. His next book will have 25 pages, of footnotes, he is indeed a scholar.
And the Libs just don’t know how to silence him.
When dealing with Chicago thugs, it takes courage coupled with knowledge. And Beck has both.
The backlash on the Beck boycotters, has just begun.
August 15th, 2009 at 7:14 am
Advertisers stay with Fox, yet some shift where their ads will run…
They are still paying Fox the same amount of dollars as before…
Beck still gets paid his contract, and with his ratings he is secure as one can be….
OK, so tell me again, how the boycott has been effective?

All of you are a joke and so is Fox News

Edited by staff, vulgarity is base, and you are warned.

If I said some of the things that Glenn Beck has said the Secret Service would be at my door.

Thank you Frank and KLO
Nice to meet ya, facists.
1st Amendment, freedom of speech? Ever heard of these concepts. Nobody on the right threatens anybody, that’s a leftist ploy.
Just review the last eight years and what was said about Bush. You are clueless.
Your brownshirts need more starch.
August 15th, 2009 at 8:12 am
correction Fascists!
August 15th, 2009 at 8:13 am
Swamp, what exactly is your point? The first amendment says government shall make no law restricting Freedom of speech. What does that have to do with this debate?
August 15th, 2009 at 8:14 am
Frank, the joke is on you, you can hate on Fox all you want, but they their night time shows beat the other cable news shows combined in ratings. Do you have an actual point, or are you just a mindless leftist here to spew their hate?
August 15th, 2009 at 8:15 am
Bluto, you are right, this boycot is stupid. Beck’s ratings are higher then any show on MSNBC or CNN. There are plenty of advertisers who are willing to step in, because in the end money talks. Beck’s clearly nuts in my mind, but he has good ratings, and in the television game that’s all that matters.
August 15th, 2009 at 8:21 am
Hail the hypocrisy!
How could House Speaker Nancy Pelosi call protestors at Town Hall meetings “un-American?”
How dare she!
And how could the press not deride her for such blatant hypocrisy?
How dare it!
I am appalled by the constant shortcomings of the press.
During the Bush administration, when protestors were saying and doing whatever against the President, Pelosi said dissent was good, as American as apple pie. Obviously, Speaker Pelosi is aptly named Speaker, as she is more than able to speak from both sides of her mouth.
However, this isn’t the type of speaker we need. Her insults only increase the tension and unrest in our country. The more honest Americans are insulted and denigrated, the harder they will fight.
Perhaps advertisers should pull their ads from the mainstream media who should be calling for Pelosi’s resignation for all the damage she is doing to this country! FOX kills in the ratings because it is the only station that dares speak up! Long live FREEDOM OF SPEECH!

Bryan,
Just to let you know, the “Frank” above is not me.
To the “Frank” above, please use “Frank # 2″, or something like that. I would prefer to keep my name and not have other readers think that it is me.
Frank

@Frank – I thought something was odd. It didn’t sound like you.
I think the new Frank is really Klo-less in drag.
August 15th, 2009 at 10:43 am
I notice that randomly if I tune in Fox news or their new business channel within a minute or less you hear them launch into their support for the yelling town hall meetings saying these are just ordinary citizens. Sort of like, after 911 you couldn’t put on the radio or tv news and not hear the word “terror” or “terrorism” or the like within seconds of tuning in. Its propaganda. What is worrying, is Rupert Murdock is from Australia, and now has bought the Wall Street Journal and is even sending reporters out to push their “views” on assorted American media. If you put on Bloomberg, you won’t get pushed into this propaganda and you really notice the difference. Why is our “free enterprize” system giving so much media power to this man, and how profoundly will he affect our views? I think the town hall gamesmenship has woken up a lot of Americans to the level of manipulation that is being run by the boys in the back room. Again a loss in objective information, they even have to tell you its “fair and balanced” yet Bloomberg doesn’t as it sounds fair and balanced. So does Rupert think the whole country is just a bunch of naive peasants motoring around between their jobs and their homes? Where are the ethics? If I can’t turn on Fox and not get a sales piece in the first 20 seconds what good is it to me?
August 15th, 2009 at 10:46 am
Don’t you feel that it is a little over the top for someone like Glenn Beck to call the President of the United States a racist, in so many words? And get away with it?
By doing so, and with his other rhetoric, Beck gives credence to and encourages the nuts amongst us who might decide to go out and try to do something about it. Well, they heard it on Fox! And isn’t Fox the most fair and balanced? THE PRESDIENT IS A RACIST.
I know that a lot of people say and have said many things. But a lot of people are not Glenn Beck. Glenn Beck has a responsibility not to do things like that, not to make irresponsible, hate-mongering statements on TV. His words have consequences far and beyond the words of other people who do not have his forum.
This is a prefect example of why we need a Fairness Doctrine, so someone could tell the little fat-faced idiot to shut up, and actually be heard by millions, like he is, every day.
August 15th, 2009 at 10:49 am
You’re an MSNBC watcher, aren’t you Brian?
August 15th, 2009 at 10:54 am
I have found rachel maddow especially interesting as she is the modern version of a muckracker as she has done some good work exposing who is financing these made for tv disruptive town meetings. She is on sunday with Dick Army on Meet the Press(I think), but sunday for sure to discuss this futher. She has a doctorate actually, from oxford, b.a. stanford and does more in depth analysis than is typical, and sites her sources, and is pretty good so far. I also like Ollie North’s reporting, and O’Reilly at times, and Greta Van Sustern, and Glenn Beck(sometimes he flies off the cardtable) especially if you can put him and Netanyahu in the room discussing Middle East politics.
August 15th, 2009 at 10:55 am
Klo-less, you saw the Gates controversy, you know about Rev. Wright, you’ve heard the things his wife said, he even called his grandmother “A typical white person.”
What exactly is your definition of racist.
If I called Obama a typical black person you’d be the first one pointing your finger screaming racist.
