In a healthcare town hall meeting in New Hampshire, President Obama made the claim that the AARP had endorsed his healthcare plan. The only problem with that is the AARP hasn’t endorsed any plan yet. The AARP endorsement claim is just another in a long line of “exaggerations” by the President.
Is it possible he just misspoke? Sure. Is it probable that he just misspoke? Not likely. Obama’s AARP endorsement claim is a symptom of a deeper problem with this President. He has a complex that will not allow him to be wrong about anything he wants. The simple fact is he is having a tough time selling the democrats healthcare plan to the American people; he’ll go to great lengths to make it happen. AARP statement:
“While the President was correct that AARP will not endorse a health care reform bill that would reduce Medicare benefits, indications that we have endorsed any of the major health care reform bills currently under consideration in Congress are inaccurate.”
Saying his statements are inaccurate is just a nice way of saying he lied about it. Of course we remember the Caterpillar incident, remember all of the instances of saying one thing in the past and now having a totally opposite position? Political expediency I like to call it. Or should I say, he likes to call it.
Let a Republican change positions and the media swoops in like buzzards on road kill. Obama switches positions ( well he’s actually still denying the first position) and everything is just as it should be.
Make no bones about it, the AARP will probably endorse whatever abomination the democrats end up with. But as for now, the Obama AARP endorsement claim is just a bunch of hogwash; just like the rest of his presidency to date.

the way i heard it the aarp was going to endorse obama’s plan but got so much push back that they could not do it without angering their members.

do you trust aarp as a real entity for seniors interest, or is it just an insurance company selling policies to elders with a public interest lobbying division?

and then came Selma, and little Barack…
i never heard…those types of comments from Rev Wright…
transparency, post partisianship…

lisab, that sounds right, the AARP probably doesn’t want to get anywhere near this thing right now.
not many people do except for the democrats and lefties.

Interesting that today I received a solicitation from AARP trying to sell me Life Insurance. Will return with a question. So with the new “health care (insurance) reform” that AARP has in part or will support AARP in its wisdom is shifting focus to selling seniors Life Insurance?

baw, yes aarp was reported on cnbc to be heavy into various insurance policies, you know the monthly ones that pay a little for this or that, but really don’t cover the big stuff. I think that’s its main business line, and the senior lobbying thing is kind of a p.r. arm.

Booh! Liar! BO
Booh! Lair! BO

I believed him when he said AARP endorsed his plan. They are a purely liberal organization.
I also received a life insurance solicitation yesterday so now I’m not so certain that BO was telling the truth.
If the next solicitation is for burial plots, I’ll know for sure.

AARP is in the biz of making MONEY off seniors-fleecing the flock, just like TV Evangelists.

Obama is a LIAR. So many lies it is hard to count. The man has no integrity and therefore no character. He is a fraud.

I saw a video of an aarp woman leaving a meeting after the hard questions came. If enough people speak up and tear up their
membership cards, any business will hear that.
I don’t believe obama lied, but people changed
aarp’s mind. Not that I think obama is above
lying.

Don’t Presidents go on vacation in August. Barry give us a break. Shut up and go on vacation.
Barry you are the biggest liar to ever be president.
AARP is a lobbying group Brian. Educate yourself before speaking.

flyingmonkey-
I’d be nervous as well if you get a burial plot advertisement. Thanks for the laugh.

Yeah Lisab.
Folks were tearing up their AARP membership cards as far back as a couple of weeks ago.
I was just thinking.
The last time any of them probably did anything like that was in the 60s when they burned their draft cards.
They keep sending me stuff in the mail, I throw it out, I dont want to be that old, yet.
Those of you who are tired of listening to and looking at Barry I also feel your pain. I’ve never been so sick of looking at anyone in my life. Someone ought to tell him that separation breeds fondness.
I’d be really fond of the separation part
