In Los Angeles today, numerous posters have popped up featuring President Barack Obama portrayed as Heath Ledger’s “Joker” character from the Dark Knight Batman movie.
Under the picture of Obama as the Joker, there is a large caption stating “Socialism.”
So far, no one has taken credit for the poster, and no one seems to have any idea who is behind them. The posters have been appearing in the Hollywood area in particular, though there have been sightings across Los Angeles.
There are unconfirmed rumors that this is a campaign by conservatives who are angry over Obama’s policies. So far, there is no evidence to indicate that is the case. There are also unconfirmed sightings in cities other than L.A.
I’m not sure I “get” the Joker imagery. The Heath Ledger Joker character seemed to be more of an anarchist than a socialist. Also, as to be expected, some are claiming that the comically large red lips are racist. I think that’s nonsense. There’s nothing racist about depicting Obama as a famous movie character. The poster equates him to a famous clown which had large red lips. If you think this is racist, I guess a black man can never dress up as a clown.
If I had to design the poster I would’ve turned Obama into Mao or Lenin. That would seem to make more sense, and get the “Socialism” message across loud and clear.

You want to know why I got these scars?
My father was drinking man he dreamed of Socialism and government run healthcare. So one day I said to daddy well what about the free market and people who work hard and want to keep there hard earned dollar. And he got very angry with me and he said why so conservative and I said because isn’t the constitution is good, but he kept kept on saying your wrong with Socialism we can live on welfare our whole life’s. So I said isn’t that morally wrong, because we can be wealthy if we worked hard like Bill Gates. So he said let me put a smile on your face to show you just how happy you’ll be when you don’t work for your money and receive welfare. And at that point I knew I would be the first Socialist president.

Yeah, Mao or Lenin would work, but “The Joker” says it all!

“Some people just want to watch the world burn”. Who said that? The Joker, Obama? Either could have.

Everyone needs to email this image to everyone they know. Print em out and spread em around in the dark of night.

I for one do not have the faith in human nature that you do to deem this as not being racist. This is obviously racist.
People who hate Obama sit up at night trying to figure out how to attack his race without being too blatant about it. Obama’s race is the most obvious thing that he has that makes him vulnerable to a political attack. A good example is Rush’s “angry black man” schtick. It is obvious what it is to anyone with half a brain.
You claim to be so much better that the liberals’ attacks on Bush, so why do you lower yourself to this? The truth is, there is hatred on all sides.

Klo, how is this racist? How?
Is it racist to make any kind of caricature of a black man? Is any criticism of Obama racist?
I think you have to answer yes to both questions to consider this racist.
August 3rd, 2009 at 12:43 pm
Ignatius,
Any criticism of the one is racist.

How silly of me, Bryan. I forgot that. Also, please note that it is now considered to be racist to oppose national health care.
Soon, anyone who is not a socialist will be considered a racist.

The jokes on you.
It is obvious to me.

Trust me obama doesn’t want the world to burn, because China will prosper under obama. The US will burn under obama, but at least China will be happy.

OBAMA JOKER T-shirts and posters
August 3rd, 2009 at 3:27 pm
Finally, an honest portrait of Obama. Must more realistic than we get from the MSM. I hope these posters get displayed on every corner, from coast to coast – to remind the People what clown is running our country into the ground.
The uprising is only beginning. We will not be taken quietly where we do not want to go. God Bless America! If you love your liberty you will fight like he!! to keep it.

Actually, the red lips make his lips look smaller…jk! No, really now, he is affiliated with racists, but to portray him with large lips is being racist? That’s a stupid accusation! What they shoulda did was have a picture of him smoking a joint with Hugo Chavez and Fidel Castro on a tropical island, all smiling, while looking at the communist manifesto…ah, then again, that might be too extreme…?

P.S. It would make a great shirt, where can I get one?
August 3rd, 2009 at 4:15 pm
P.S.S. I would like two shirts, one of the poster above and another one with the same picture that says, “Not my president!” just like they did to former President Bush!
August 3rd, 2009 at 6:43 pm
It warms my heart that you would defend this. It really does. Go right on. Just go ahead.
And while the Democrats go about the business of doing something serious to change this country, y’all can just go ahead and cluck and chirp about a picture of our President–who happens to be a black man–in white greasepaint and big red lips. That’s really funny, and really important. That really means a lot in your struggle with whatever it is you are struggling against.
But I guess that’s what you do when you have no other leg to stand on.

Hey Klo, if your so offended, how do you explain that Vanity Fair did the same thing on their cover (wait for it) to George Bush. http://www.vanityfair.com/online/politics/2008/07/bush-as-joker.html
I bet that was okay eh. Why is every political statement that is anti-Obama racist? Don’t you guys have anything else to come back with. Man that is tired.
August 3rd, 2009 at 6:56 pm
Well thanks for your permission Klo! You should be glad we can still do this considering the direction democrats are taking us. One thing you are right about, the democrats are trying to change the country, but if you haven’t realized it yet, IT’S THE WRONG CHANGE! I didn’t see it as white paint on a black man, I saw it from a purely political point of view, but you libs always know when to play the race card perfectly, like Pagannini on the violin! The only thing I am struggling with is the fact that I am seeing our country get destroyed right before my eyes and cannot do anything about it!
August 3rd, 2009 at 6:58 pm
P.S. What about when they turned a picture of John McCain into a vampire. I guess that was racist because black people call white people the devil, but that was o.k. too…

I saw a great post with analysis on why this poster really works over at Aces:
“I think the reason that the lefties have their panties in a knot over this poster is threefold:
1) It nicely mocks the socialist workers paradise propaganda picture of the one that all the Obama losers have/had stuck on their cars or in their windows.
2) It reinforces the unstated but now increasingly accepted notion that Obama is a joker – a clueless affirmative action candidate that has no management, executive or really life experience and is completely out of his depth as the president of this country.
3) Just like the drive by attacks from Jon Stewart and similar sewer trout on Sarah Palin – this image sticks and stays with people in a very visceral way.
You know this thing hit the mark because of all the squealing from the lefties. I would love to get this on a sticker with identical dimensions to that nauseating “Dear Leader” one from the election. Driving around with that on my car would raise a few eyebrows around my sleepy suburban enclave here in NC.”
