The internet is buzzing with the lustful story of San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom getting it on with his secretary, Ruby Rippey-Tourk. Not only was Ms. Rippey-Tourk an employee of Mayor Newsom, she also happens to be the wife of his best friend. Newsom is no stranger to scandal.
Major Newsom brought gay marriage to California, albeit briefly until his administrative fiat was struck down by California’s highest court. After his own failed marriage, and now this, it leaves one concluding that Gavin Newsom respects gay marriage more than heterosexual marriage.

Oh, Alex Tourk resigned yesterday while confronting his creepy friend, Mayor Newsom. They didn’t actually duke it out — Tourk is leaving the punches for the media who are having a field day at Gavin Newsom’s expense. How this will affect Mayor Newsom’s reelection bid is undermined.

Mayor Gavin Newsom apologized Thursday for having a sexual relationship with his former campaign manager’s wife.
“I’m deeply sorry,” Newsom said during a brief news conference at City Hall the day after the aide resigned. Newsom appeared poised but visibly emotional. He spoke for about a minute and left without taking questions.
Alex Tourk, 39, resigned Wednesday after confronting his boss about his relationship with his wife, Ruby Rippey-Tourk, 34, who once worked as the mayor’s appointment secretary.
Newsom acknowledged that he had the affair first reported Wednesday night on the San Francisco Chronicle’s Web site and apologized for what he called “a lapse of judgment.”
“I want to make it clear that everything you’ve read is true and I’m deeply sorry about that,” he said. “I hurt someone I care deeply about, Alex Tourk and his family and friends, and that is something I’m deeply sad about and sorry for.”
Tourk served as Newsom’s deputy chief of staff until September, when he became manager of the re-election campaign.
After his wife told him about the affair, Tourk approached the mayor about it, then resigned.

Blah Blah Blah, scandal, sex, betrayal. Just another Danielle Steele novel waiting to be published.
Let’s break it down. She’s a blond version of Kimberly. Clearly there’s much more to this scandal than we’re being told. Who really knows what was happening b/t Alex and Ruby in 2005? Maybe their marriage was on the fritz… Gavin was reeling from his divorce and Ruby was an eager participant.
Gavin is only human, he screwed up BIG TIME there’s no question. He’s disappointed a lot of people. We’ll get over it. Those that live in glass houses…
Bottom line is it’s none of our frickin’ business. Now we at least know he’s not gay. He’s in fact a fan of HOT successful women. How horrible, huh?
Ruby is a recovering coke whore who f#cked up her marriage. Gavin f#cked up a friendship. Let them sort out their own demons.

I’m no Mr. Spock, but I’d venture to say that Newsom’s affair is actually at the “better” end of the scale of general moral decay that seems to be so proudly hailed in San Francisco.
