Al Gore was nominated for the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize for his wide-reaching, and often ridiculous efforts to draw the world’s attention to the potential dangers of global warming today.

Boerge Brende and Heidi Soerensen of the Norwegian Socialist Left Party rushed to nominate Gore and Canadian Inuit activist Sheila Watt-Cloutier before the nomination deadline expired Thursday.

The members of the Socialist Left Party truly admire Gore for his dedication and determination to saving mother Earth, for taking the time to make his Oscar-nominated documentary on climate change called An Inconvenient Truth, and for making the world a much smaller place via his creation of the internet.

With this nomination, Gore joins an elite group of Nobel Peace Prize candidates that includes a long list of fine folks such as Cindy Sheehan, Neville Chamberlin, Adolf Hitler, Joseph Stalin and Benito Mussolini.

Congratulations Al.
