It was just reported that Sarah Palin will resign at the end of the month. The Alaska Governor is stepping down at the end of the month. This is breaking news and no official reasons were cited for the resignation. Palin, widely considered a contender for the Republican nomination for president in 2012, announced that she will not seek re-election as Governor of Alaska and will step down July 25th.
Alaska Governor Sarah Palin
CNN is reporting that Lt. Gov. Sean Parnell will take the oath of office on the 25th of July at the Governor’s Picnic.
An unnamed source stated the following:
“She thinks she has accomplished goals she has set forward,” a source, speaking on the condition of anonymity, said. “She sees what a positive influence she has had on people’s lives from traveling the country in the last year.”
Speculation is sure to run rampant on both sides of the political spectrum as to the resignation. No official reasons were given, but Palin’s statement included the following:
We know we can affect positive change outside government at this moment in time on another scale and actually make a difference,”
CNN also states the following:
A Republican source close to her political team told CNN’s John King that it was a “calculation” she made that “it was time to move on.” The governor’s “book deal and other issues” were “causing a lot of friction” in her home state, the source said, adding that he believes she is “mapping out a path to 2012.”
It will be interesting to see if this resignation helps or hurts her profile and her chances for the Republican nomination for 2012. Honestly, I think it’s too early to tell how this will affect her chances. Certainly there will be strong feelings either way.

Palin is Alaska’s youngest governor and the first woman elected to the office when she won in 2006. It will be interesting to see why Sarah Palin resigned. The media frenzy is about to begin, the Right will assume that this means that she will run for President in 2012, the Left will assume that is has to do with some sort of scandal, and I’m sure the truth lies somewhere in between. This story will be updated, but what we know now is that Alaska Governor Sarah Palin is stepping down on July 25th. Let the speculation begin.

I wish she would wait until 2016..I really don’t think she has a chance to be Pres in 2012…people are to vindictive. She needs more time to hone her skills, and then step up to the plate.

If Sarah Palin can’t finish her term as Alaska’s Governor, how can she wouldn’t bail if elected President?
July 3rd, 2009 at 2:04 pm
My speculation is that she will be running for the Alaskan Senate seat that will be open in 2010. She would have to kick off her campaign sometime around Labor Day which would mean more time away from the governors office.
This would be her second campaign for Federal office in less than a year and she would owe the Alaskan people that courtesy. I’m sure she’ll spend the time in between organizing.
Sarah Palin gets sued over and over for ethics violations by dim-witted Democrat locals trying to make her look bad. When she finally does run for president, the MSM will trumpet all the lawsuits for ethics violations leaving out the part that she beats the rap every time. This will put an end to that.
Sarah is too popular and probably has too big a war chest to just call it quits. I think she’s beefing up her resume for 2012.
July 3rd, 2009 at 2:07 pm
If she quits before the end of her term she cannot seriously consider running in 2010/2012. She made a song and dance about the executive experience of being governor and then quits halfway through.
July 3rd, 2009 at 2:10 pm
A calculated move indeed - I think her handlers’ handlers are putting her into a nosedive so she can’t make a SERIOUS run for president - which bailing on being governor will pretty much ensure. She energizes the base but polls very negatively among swing voters/independents.

Sarah Palin is no longer viable for the office of the President of the United States of America.By quitting her office and leaving Alaska in turmoil she has shown her contempt for office and the people of the United States.Who could cast a vote for her to be President if she can not commit herself to a place as small as Alaska?
July 3rd, 2009 at 2:19 pm
It is too bad when people with good values leave politics, but I can’t blame her. Votes in America are cast for the one that promises the most to the people that sweat the least.
July 3rd, 2009 at 2:22 pm
It is ashamed that our governemnt is made up of egos rather than real people like Palin. Palin continues to show the people what it takes to be a GOOD God fearing politican.
Good for you Sarah!!!

Sarah Palin IS Dagny Taggart! She just didn’t realize it until now. What America needs now is for our nation’s equivalent of John Galt, Francisco d’Anconia and Hank Reardon to step-up to the plate and the four of them can disappear to hatch a plan that will bring America back to Her deserved greatness in 2012.
July 3rd, 2009 at 2:24 pm
There are only two reasons politicians step down before their term is over:
1. Health
2. Some sort of indiscretion.
She looks healthy enough to me.
July 3rd, 2009 at 2:35 pm
I hope she runs in 2012. Be a cakewalk for Obama
July 3rd, 2009 at 2:40 pm
Wait and see, there is a better story behind this. Mark my words!!! I did not hate her but I think she was too interested in the negativity in the media. If you’re in politics you should be able to ignore the negativities. She made herself look bad by responding to every stupid things that was said about her or her family. Also, she made women look bad by responding to every stupid gossip. We women have a reputation for been catty and unprofessional and she proved it for us. Well, Palin good luck to your future. I know you love your family, but you let the media get to you.
July 3rd, 2009 at 2:58 pm
What Sarah Palin has cooking after she steps down as Alaska’s governor has me scared to death. There’s no telling what damage the woman is about to cause.
July 3rd, 2009 at 3:23 pm
She said that she decided not to run for re-election in 2010 and she doesn’t want to be a ‘Lame Duck’ the remainder of her current term.
Let’s continue that logic. If she runs for President in 2012, then by that logic it would not make any sense for her to run for re-election in 2016 because she would spend four years as a lame duck. If she doesn’t run for re-election in 2016 then she would begin her first Presidential term in 2012 as a lame duck, so by the logic she just espoused she should not run for President in 2012. That way she can avoid being a ‘Lame Duck; completely.
I think I understand now….the problem is not that she might be a ‘Lame Duck’….the problem is that she is just plain LAME!!!!

I’m tired of Sarah Palin. She’s trying to step on the news cycle of the greatest entertainer in the world. No respect for him or for the office she was elected to finish, but just quit. She quit on people. I keep flipping channels to see more news on Michael Jackson. To heck with Sarah. She couldn’t even finish her term. I’m voting for President Obama when it’s time for re-election. She isn’t smart enough to be our president. I’m sick of listening to her.

Based on the fact that 25% of the US populus will never vote for someone more intelligent than them, I think she has a chance. She will just need to re-convince the remaining voters of her “morally superior” “values”. So keeping her broken family, including her unwed daughter’s pregnancy and failed marriage, out of the spotlight will probably give her ample time to rebuff her “wholesome” image. And with all the morally superior “christian” republican (male) politicians being caught having sex with other women and MEN, in airport restrooms, houses of prostitution, Argentina, etc., now is probably the best time to let people forget about her lack of experience and education, and real values. She will still need a target to create fear and hysteria, and the gays will probably still be an easy choice in 2012 for those like Sarah who think they are morally superior. Maybe she can claim that they actually EAT babies.
She needs to think about a running mate tho, and Joe the Plumber might be the perfect fit - he has the lack of education, lack of political experience, and “Good ‘ol Boy” looks that is desireable to the values voters. But he might want to finally get a license to actually practice plumbing legally in the first place.
The only qualification I want for President, to lead the most powerful and complex nation and economy in the world, is someone that can sit and have a beer with me at the local tavern, nothing more. BY NO MEANS CAN THEY BE MORE INTELLIGENT THAN ME!

God help You All & Us Too if Sarah Palin is Ever Elected President!!
Ask Todd & Sarah who helped to build their home????

Earlier today when she quit her job as Alaska’s Governor, Palin ended her speech by quoting General MacArthur: “In the words of General MacArthur said, “We are not retreating. We are advancing in another direction.”
That is a rewrite of something said in 1950 by Major General Oliver P. Smith, CG of the 1st Marine Division during the Korean War :
“Retreat Hell! We’re just attacking in another direction.”

Sarah Palin is a stupid trailer whore, fit only for expelling a litter of mongoloid babies.
July 3rd, 2009 at 4:52 pm
The propaganda being spewed in these comments is hilarious. She obviously scares the living daylights out of people. She’s doing the RIGHT thing. Most ppl (Obama) continue in their elected offices, ignoring their responsibilities to the people they are supposed to be serving while going on to bigger and better things.
Palin is doing the RIGHT thing.
People are getting SICK TO DEATH of all these Washington insiders, elitists east coast intelligentsia and politicians who are so out of touch with their constiuency they probably couldn’t find them on a map.
Sarah Palin is the ANTI all of that. Stand back and watch. We might just be seeing the one person who can rally the average American behind her and get a movement going to take our country BACK.
July 3rd, 2009 at 4:54 pm
It’s unfortunate that Sarah Palin couldn’t handle the pressures of the Governor’s office. I guess it’s good that she recognized her deficiency and stepped down. I don’t think, after hearing her speech today, that she has instilled any confidence in being able to handle an even higher office and level of responsibility that will bring more pressure and public criticism. I believe the Dems won because of Palin’s inability to gain the trust and respect of a VARIETY of voters. Pawlenty will get my vote.

Right on beth.
I’ve never seen so many BS predictable asinine statements in a row in all my years blogging.
Doug, yeah right, she couldnt handle it. And I’m hung like Butch Williams.
Gary, ask Obama how he got his house in Chicago.
Dan D. At this point, your regurgitated crap has been chewed up and spit out in my sleeep numerous times.
I’m willing to bet that Palins intelligence has gotten her further in life than yours.
Vegas.
What happens inside you should stay there.
Shelly, Carnie.
You didnt hear a word she said, did you ?
Kingpin.
At the rate hes going, Obamas lucky if he makes it to 2012 without being jailed or sent to Antarctica.
Ronnie.
California is in turmoil, not Alaska.
You guys are scared sh*tless of her. Shes everything the liberal feminist movement says a woman should be (except she is way way better looking) but oh my fricken goodness watch out shes a republican conservative.
It pi$$es you guys off to such an extent that you cant even come up with a decent concerted argument against her other than these petty little invectives and personal snipes.
Did any of you notice how she was being pitted up against Obama during the campaign and not Biden ? Yeah, thats right, think back. Whos resume` was being lined up next to whos ?

Woodhouse is typical of all those on the DNC.
He has no clue. Hope he enjoys what he is doing because it won’t last long.
People are already turning on their “messiah’s troops” and the mess they have made in less than six months.
Spin, Woodhouse, spin….as you can’t deal with facts. That is typical of 95% of the Dems!
How sad!

Palin just committed political suicide. If she thinks quiting when the going gets touch will get her elected President she’s dead wrong. How will the public trust her to commit to a term in the White House if she can’t finish what she started in Alaska. I’m sorry, but there is no excuse for stepping down unless you or your family are having medical issues. So long to Palin, I won’t vote for you in any future capacity.
