Who is the winner of the Iranian election? That would be President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad as announced by state-run media in Iran as if we didn’t know it already. The Iranian vote count is in while the first to lend credibility to the manipulated Iranian election results was Barack Obama himself.
Although the Iranian election commanded worldwide interest, nobody really expected the hard-line state candidate to lose. The guy wins who Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei and the religious council wants to win. Amazingly everyone seems to know that except for our own young president.
And yet Barack Obama announced that he was looking forward to the results as if closely monitoring Fidel Castro’s latest rigged election achievement in a totalitarian state. Obama issued a statement saying he is “excited to see what appears to be a robust debate taking place in Iran.” Go figure.
According to the State of Iran as reported by state media IRNA, what was by all accounts a hotly contested election campaign resulted in President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad winning with a commanding 68% of the vote over challenger Mirhossein Mousavi who had barely 30% officially. Who knew? Judging by the street demonstrations we have to say that mathematics is no longer the strong point in ancient Iran.
Mousavi is claiming the usual sort of voting irregularities that candidates do in the United States, which are both underwhelming and missing the point. In fact he is claiming victory himself. He had no chance no matter how many people voted for him. Barack Obama knows that and chose via his statement to lend U.S. democratic legitimacy to the Ahmadinejad win despite the farcical vote count and disputed Iranian election results.

“[Obama said he was] excited to see what appears to be a robust debate taking place in Iran.”
That’s nice, but I’d like to see a more “robust debate” in Congress about the insane legislation they’re passing while everybody’s asleep.

I thought the Cairo Obama speech was to change the face of the middle east. So much for that. Please the mullets decide who is President. Obama is an idiot to make that statement.

This election was important in that it help keep the young people happy. If they get mad enough at the goverment and feel their say means nothing then changes may start to happen but slowly at first. This election means little in terms of power but it helps to keep the majority of people(30 and under) somewhat happy. The US saw in the 60s what happens when you push youth to hard with little say.

Neocons wanted Ahmadinejad to win, so they’ll be happy

Here we go again… the party of No praying for America’s failure.
Pathetic… no wonder you’re in the wilderness.

Mir-Hossein Mousavi will win this election. Your prematurly ejaculated response to early reports shows how uneducated the “right pundits” are. Obama clearly made an unbiased statment aimed toward progressing the debate even further in our own country. Mousavi will be a benefit to the international theater, and Obama is excited to work with a man who doesn’t deny the unfortunate truths of this world.

Is it possible that Obama is delustional? Does he see things that don’t exist? Is he possessed? Or is he just plain insane? No rational person sees things the way he does.

The reason Obama is happy about the “robust debate” is that it shows the “higher information” voters are starting to get it. Acts of civil disobedience are likely to follow. So, don’t go claiming victory for your preferred foil to Obama just yet.

I wonder if Obama took notice of the “robust debate” that took place after the election results were announced.

Took notice? His Egypt speech, and reference to the 1953 coup, in the final stretch of this election, was no accident.
