It’s actually somewhat hard to believe but in campaign-speak, the 2010 elections are really just around the corner. One of my very favorite Republicans, former Ohio Congressman John Kasich, has decided to get back into politics. He formally announced that he is running for Governor and will most likely face Governor Ted Strickland who is expected to run for a second term.

Republicans wanted John Kasich to run in 2006, but he declined. He has, however, been keeping a foot in the door since then. In March 2008, he suggested that Ohio’s income tax should be ‘phased out.’ He served last year as honorary chairman of ‘Recharge Ohio,’ a group committed to finding leaders who could ‘get Ohio back on track.’ He was also a speaker at one of the Tax Day Tea Parties.

Can John Kasich pull it off? I think Governor John Kasich sounds pretty great personally.
