It seems the more former Vice President Cheney speaks these days, defending the Bush adminstration and the use of EIT’s, the more his favorability ratings go up. You can read more about it below, see photos and a video.
A new national poll conducted by CNN’s research arm, says that Americans opinion of former Vice President Cheney is increasing. Here are the results: Fifty-five percent of people questioned in the poll say they have an unfavorable opinion of the former vice president while Thirty-seven percent say they have a favorable opinion of Cheney. This is however, up eight points from January when he left office. In fact, he’s more popular then current Vice President Biden! Heh.
Why? In the past two months Vice President Cheney has been very visible opposing The One’s national security policy choices and defending the Bush administration for the use of EIT’s.
It seems VP Cheney has taken on an interesting role, post bush administration. Here’s my take: he is fearlessly outspoken while patiently schooling conservatives; helping us to regroup; reminding us of the fundamental beliefs and values and ideas - what the role of government should be in our society, and our commitment to the Constitution and constitutional principles.
And he’s doing all of this in his unflappable, self-assured, calming, Cheney-way that drew ‘conservative loyalty’ to him in the first place. Have you seen any of the pompous arrogance that we see on a daily basis from Obamaland? No way.
Love him (like many conservatives do), or hate him like rabid lefties and a few RINO’s, you can’t deny that former Vice President Cheney has been effective in rattling the cage of Barack Obama’s administration over the issue of torture and the use of Enhanced Interrogation Techniques or EIT’s. Rattled it so much, that The One scheduled his cleverly stagecrafted national security speech yesterday in an attempt to blunt the remarks of Dick Cheney’s speech which was scheduled weeks ago at the American Enterprise Institute.
It has been suggested that we’ve seen more of Dick Cheney in the last few weeks then we ever did while he was in that now disclosed bunker for eight years. Is that the reason for the increase in Dick Cheney’s favorabilty poll numbers? Who knows — polls are flakey.
More photos and a video from Dick Cheney Favorability are below.

His popularity may be going up with republicans because democrats nor independents, such as myself, aint fallen for his crap. He had 8 years to mess up this country now he needs to be gone and let President Obama do his job.
May 22nd, 2009 at 6:40 am
Anyway you spin it, 37% approve vs 55% disapprove is dismal.
Also, this is flat WRONG: “he’s more popular then current Vice President Biden”
Had you taken the time to READ the article you linked to, you’d see it gives Biden a 51% approval. Your confusion comes b/c they are saying Cheney was more popular (58%) at the same point during his term as VP (by 7/01).
May 22nd, 2009 at 6:46 am
Lol. Laughable Lakilia!
The One seems to suffer from terminal vagueness. He STILL doesn’t know what he intends do with the most dangerous GITMO terrorists. All he knows is that he knows better than Bush. He’ll figure out the little, unimportant details — like THE ENTIRE PLAN — later.
May 22nd, 2009 at 7:05 am
Wow, 37%. Yeah he’s really winning people over huh?
May 22nd, 2009 at 7:08 am
If only “rabid lefties and a few RINO’s” hate him, how come his unfavorables are still at 57%? What will it take to make you see that it is the Right who are the extremists?
I wish Cheney luck in gathering conservatives around himself and Rush. It will guarantee that you guys stay out of power for a generation.
May 22nd, 2009 at 7:35 am
lakilia you better be careful. You could be arrested for Hate Speech. Why don’t you say the same thing about Algore? He is a liar and a scammer yet he gets a pass in liberal world and Cheney is suppose to just keep quiet.
Rob, Joe Biden is an idiot and only idiots don’t know that. So where does that put you? Who gives a crap about polls? You liberal use them to govern because you all have no vision and no plan execpt to talk up to death about what’s wrong with America and how it is all Bushes fault. Obama is not capable of putting a complete thought together. His plan is the Bush Plan for Gitmo.
I would have had a bit of respect for him had he come out and say, I ran on the promise to close Gitmo, but now that I am President, I have information I did not have as a candidate.
Joe Biden is laughable. He rambles on about things and ends up putting his foot in his mouth.
Kate is right on the money. Barry in Charge is so vauge, he puts himself to sleep talking. He thinks he is better then Bush, but he is not fit to walk behind Bush.
May 22nd, 2009 at 7:39 am
Who gives a crap about polls?
Hah, well seeing as polling data is the entire basis of this discussion George, I would say they’re somewhat relevant here.
May 22nd, 2009 at 7:47 am
George, you make zero sense. I’m not the one praising polls here. How you rambled yourself into talking about Gitmo, I have no idea. I’m also not defending Joe Biden and his chronic foot-in-mouth disease. I am pointing out the sloppy job that the author has done.
May 22nd, 2009 at 7:49 am
Dat Cheney, he be the man for us all. He knows we gots to torture them Mooslims to gets them into line. He knows that Dick Nixon got a raw deal. We needs to elect that Cheney man president, then put Dick Nixon’s picture on da one dollah bill. Then when Cheney die, we put his picture on da five dollah bill. Then evah time we’s pay for something with hard, cold cash, we be reminded of the hard, cold man who done saved us all.
May 22nd, 2009 at 7:58 am
Polls are simply the new way for the media to create news. They lack the balls to report the news without a slat one way or the other. And polls can be misleading because of the way the questions are asked. “Do you still beat your wife?” How in the heck do you answer a question like that.
I am very such that Dick Cheney is not worried or concerened about this or any other poll. People can love him or hate, but he did what needed to be done at the time. It will no doubt be many years before the real secerts come out and show just how close we came to repeated 9/11 attacks.
I don’t believe that 51% of people in this country think Joe Biden is doing a great job. 51% of Democrat may, but not the country as a whole. I bet you over 51% of people couldn’t tell you who the VEEP is.
The last time I check, we have freedom of speech in this country. And that includes talking out about our elected officials.
Where was the outrage when Algore was screaming that Bush, liar and played on our fears?
A poll is a picture in time. There are to many fickle people in this country who lack the backbone to stand by their principles. They are weak kneed and just go with what is popular not what is right. One minute that are for it and the nest they are against it.
I know this story is about the poll, but I stand by what I said.
May 22nd, 2009 at 8:07 am
George, you don’t like polls or story about polls. Fine, take it up with the author.
“The last time I check, we have freedom of speech in this country. And that includes talking out about our elected officials.”
By all mean, he should keep it up. I’ll gladly accept in the Democrats camp all the Independents he alienates. Can he Rush go on tour together? With Glenn Beck, Ann Coulter, and Hannity too? I’d never need to worry about losing another election!
May 22nd, 2009 at 8:10 am
Rob, Gitmo was the subject of the speeches yesterday. Cheney explained why we did what we did. Obama just blamed Bush.
As for the sloppy job, it is an opinion piece not a news report.
Arch, Grow a brain. You aren’t fit to pack crap in a rat hole.
May 22nd, 2009 at 8:18 am
Rob,
I never said I didn’t like polls. I said I don’t put stock into them.
Why are liberals so infacturated with Rush? Don’t you think you ought to worry about your party when you have Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid driving the bus?
The problem with liberals is they can’t discuss anything based on fact or truth. Poll or no poll we have some big problems in this country and it starts in the White House and ends in the congress.
May 22nd, 2009 at 8:18 am
From the same guy who sold us on WMDs…he needs to understand nobody believes this fool now. When you lie to get us in a WAR you deserve to go to prison.
May 22nd, 2009 at 8:24 am
The problem with liberals is they can’t discuss anything based on fact or truth.
Yea George you have no clue…What about those WMDs that Iraq had???? Did we find those yet? Oh thats right they never had them.
The problem with Republicans is that they are easily fooled. These people arent the sharpest tools in the shed.
Sorry George that means You!!!
May 22nd, 2009 at 8:25 am
James,
Then Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton, John Kerry, and whole bunch of others need to go to prison too because they agreed with the President about the reports about WMD’s. Intelligent from the Clinton Administration.
You are just being a typical liberal. Repeating the talking points for being a good liberal. Throw darts of lies and half truths and then run for cover. Blame republicans for all the problems in the world.
May 22nd, 2009 at 8:36 am
James, I did not fall for the glamore of Obama and his slick speech because I know BS when I hear it and see it. So who was easily fooled. You voted for a community organizer for President. Liberalism is a series of PR and mirages. There is no truth needed because it is all based on clinches that liberal find comfort in.
“Conservatives are fascists and Naz*s who are always imposing their Christian moral values on others.”
“Separation of Church and State prohibits any mention of God in public places.”
“Prayer in schools is unconstitutional.”
“Government has a responsibility to create and sustain an environment of neutrality so that no citizen is offended by the religious speech of another.”
“Everyone has a right to affordable housing.”
“Human rights are more important than property rights.”
“Budget deficits increase interest rates.”
“To stimulate a slow economy, we should increase government spending to pump money into the economy.”
Too many Americans don’t have health care.”
“We need to spend more on health care.”
“Israel is the real terrorist in the Middle East.”
“If conservatives believe that every life is sacred, how can they justify a death penalty?”
“Criminals should be rehabilitated, not locked up.”
“The death penalty is cruel and unusual punishment.”
“It takes a village.”
“No liberal bias infiltrates college and university campuses.”
“The mainstream media isn’t biased.”
“Islam doesn’t advocate violence; it is a religion of peace.”
“9-11 happened because of America’s support of Israel.”
“America’s wealth is responsible for breeding the global poverty which creates terrorism.”
“Bush is a warmonger who lied about WMD in Iraq.”
“We invaded Iraq for oil.”
“War has never solved anything.”
“Conservatives are war mongers.”
“Gore actually won the 2000 election.”
“Jesus never said that homosexuality was wrong.”
“Affirmative Action helps disadvantaged minorities achieve economic success.”
“Tax cuts cause budget deficits.”
“We need targeted tax cuts for middle-class working families.”
This is what you voted for. All Crap all Lies. Not action required.
If all you can do is call me names, that is fine. I am a big boy and can take.
May 22nd, 2009 at 8:39 am
“As for the sloppy job, it is an opinion piece not a news report.”
Yes, but she misread an article she linked to, and used that bogus info to bolster her claims. There’s no getting around that being sloppy.
James and George, you are both making the same mistake. You cannot categorically claim all Dems “can’t discuss anything based on fact or truth” or all Republicans “are easily fooled”.
It’s better to pin either side down on actual facts otherwise you are just billowing hot air.
May 22nd, 2009 at 8:44 am
I be “infacturated” with Rush too! I think about that Limbaugh man breaking legs all day long! All night long, too!
Rush Limbaugh doesn’t deserve to lick Harry Reid’s shoes. Harry Reid put his butt, and his family’s butt, on the line to fight organized crime. Limbaugh IS organized crime.
You see, this is the thing. You got these pompous jerks using the power of the right-wing controlled media and money to smear and slam great and honorable people, while they wrap themselves up in the flag and pretend that they are some sort of heros. Rush Limbaugh is a coward. He dodged his war. He attacks people based upon their looks, or their race, or whatever. What a jerk! He should be run off the air. He is the ultimate, hypocrite windbag. Just the ultimate! I am GLAD that he is one of your own. It shows more than anything else who you really are.
May 22nd, 2009 at 8:52 am
Sorry, did a poor job of editing out the f bomb on my last post. You can delete it and keep this one.
heh, its funny to watch the liberals spin over someone who is supposedly a nobody idiot.
Well, if thats the case then why dont you all just sit back and shut up ?
You wont, you know why ? because you all know damn f*ckin well that Cheney knows the intelligence, the facts, the reality, has been there, done that, been head of national security under one administration so far and ran the backfield during 8 of the most dangerous years our country has seen.
If anyone can speak intelligently on this issue its Cheney, AND MOST CERTAINLY NOT BARACK OBAMA WHOS NEVER HAD TO LAUNCH ONE SECURITY DIRECTIVE IN HIS LIFE !!!Liberals know it, and they hate it.
Cheney is the epitome of what is an honest to God “check and balance” in our system.
He is what keeps Obama from rambling off all this crap that would never be true in any real world scenario.
May 22nd, 2009 at 8:56 am
‘Who knows — polls are flakey.’
oops. quoted myself from my own post!
and rob? i said that dick cheney is more popular then joe biden as based on the newsmax link and accurate. just because i didn’t spend more time on joe ‘plugs’ biden and his apparent failing as a veep isn’t my problem, its yours. it was also only one line in a long post hardly the entire subject. get over it geez.
May 22nd, 2009 at 9:08 am
@George:
“Conservatives are fascists and Naz*s who are always imposing their Christian moral values on others.”
While I wouldn’t use the word “Naz*s”, this is absolutely true of social conservatives.
“Separation of Church and State prohibits any mention of God in public places.”
Not in public places, or even by public officials. It simply cannot be part of any official government action or business, that’s all.
“Prayer in schools is unconstitutional.”
If it’s an individual child praying, no. If it’s some sort of group prayer, absolutely.
“Human rights are more important than property rights.”
Umm, obviously. Not that property rights are unimportant, but assault is a worse crime than theft.
OK that’s all. Basically I’m with you on all the taxation/government spending/socialization stuff.
May 22nd, 2009 at 9:41 am
I should not do this. But Arch you are a waste of time and space. How long did it take you to learn to talk out of your butt?
You are on of the Americans that hates America. You are in a S**t pile in your life and you are blaming everyone but yourself and think that Barry in Charge cares.
I feel sorry for you because you truly don’t have a clue. All you know is hate and spitefullness for probably your parents, family, boss, teachers, God and conservatives.
Been there done that. If you can’t contribute something of value. Be quiet please.
May 22nd, 2009 at 9:59 am
“You got these pompous jerks using the power of the right-wing controlled media”
Arch, this is just an example of your complete idiocy and condition that thinks you can just popcorn fart anything outchera$$ and it be true.
During the last media correspondents dinner Obama thanked them all for voting for him. Even Obama by way of his gratituude admits the media is in his pocket. So when you spout this complete utter nonsense, the “right-wing controlled media” you really do come off as one of the most uninformed people on the planet.
Numbnuts
May 22nd, 2009 at 10:02 am
arch is a right wing chain jerker. surely you realize that?
