My father is a WWII vet – the former Sgt. Frank Lerner. He served in the 5th Army Air Corps in the South Pacific. He saw action in New Britain, New Guinea (and the famous “Hill 660″), and the Phillipines, just to name a few. He was wounded in New Guinea – got stitched up in a field hospital and 9 days later – went back into action!
