Vice-President Joe Biden, not one to be very discreet, told dinner companions of a “secret bunker” underneath the Naval Observatory, where the office of the Vice-President is. There had been wide speculation and rumor, although I’m not sure why, that former Vice-President Dick Cheney had gone into this “secret bunker” on September 11th, 2001. I must ask the question, what was Obama thinking when he asked Joe Biden to be next in line to the Presidency? This guy never ceases to amaze; from the beginnings of his career in public life up until now, his mouth has been his greatest liability. At the Gridiron Club dinner, where politicians and media gather to tell each other how great they are, Biden confided in those seated with him that there is in fact a “secret bunker” under the Naval Observatory where the Vice-President works on a daily basis. Eleanor Clift, Newsweek magazine’s Washington contributing editor, said Biden revealed the location while filling in for President Obama at the dinner, who, along with Grover Cleveland, is the only president to skip the gathering.
Vice-President Joe Biden said according to the report:
“said a young naval officer giving him a tour of the residence showed him the hideaway, which is behind a massive steel door secured by an elaborate lock with a narrow connecting hallway lined with shelves filled with communications equipment.”
“The officer explained that when Cheney was in lock down, this was where his most trusted aides were stationed, an image that Biden conveyed in a way that suggested we shouldn’t be surprised that the policies that emerged were off the wall.”
In December of 2002, neighbors of the Observatory complained of loud noises going on there. They were told that the work being done at the Naval Observatory was “sensitive” and “classified” in nature.
The neighbors described what they thought to be construction going on underneath the Naval Observatory. This report has never been confirmed or denied. But, loud digging and construction would support Joe Biden’s claim of a “secret underground bunker”.
Joe Biden is an idiot; in the event of a terrorist attack, who would benefit the most by a “secret bunker” built for the Vice-President? The Vice-President would of course. Now because of Biden’s slick uncontrollable tongue, more tax dollars will probably be needed to build another one at another location.
My advice, don’t tell Joe Biden about his new secret bunker unless the need arises to lock him in it. Of course for the Obama administration, they may want to think about locking him away before an attack.

its been commonly reported that cheyney was building an bunker underneath the naval observatory early on in his presidency. It makes sense to have one as he lives in washington in our minds. Biden is telling nothing new. There were stories on excavation explosions on the property and movement of tractors and so forth. bidey may be a bit of a gadfly, but this is our country too and we need to know a lot more about how it works, so that it doesn’t work us so thoughroughly as it did during the bushew administration so soon again. so yeah, bidey, open up our goverenment a little more so we can “really” see our country. How else do a people take ownership of their country than knowing it?

Even if there was reporting, and I can imagine that something like this is difficult to keep secret IF CONSTRUCTION has been underway, VP Biden should not be talking about it, or lending any weight to what has probably been not much more than rumors.

I’ll bet half of you dont really know what you’re talking about anyway as its always been protcol for the POTUS and the VP to both have seperate and secure locations in case of some emergency and you can bet your a$$es that theres still plenty of secret locations where one could stash a president or VP without anyone really knowing its whereabouts.
It would only make sense that under the White house and the observatory there would be some safe harbor for its residents. I would almost expect it.
But really, its not something that needs to be laid out in detail anymore than we hear Obama giving us the details about the bunker under the White house.

Is the entrance inside the residence with an underground corridor leading elsewhere ?

It is proven that the Vice President Dick Cheney did enter a bunker underneath the East Wing of the White House called the Presidential Emergency Operations Center(PEOC) during 9/11/01.Later that night president Bush took a group of advisers to the PEOC.Under the West Wing of the White House there is the situation room in the basement.I highly do believe that the underground levels are guarded by robotic turrets.
