Roberta McCain, the 97-year-old mother of Senator and former Presidential candidate John McCain, appeared on the Tonight Show yesterday. She had a few barbs for Rush Limbaugh, whom she says “does not represent the Republican Party that I belong to.”
Roberta McCain said of conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh, “I belong to the Republican Party, what he represents of the Republican Party has nothing to do with my side of it. I don’t know what the man means, I don’t know what he’s talking about.”
Limbaugh is currently being attacked by several members of the GOP. We reported on the ongoing battle between Michael Steele and Rush Limbaugh here. Steele called Limbaugh “incendiary” and labeled him as an entertainer rather than a political leader.
Roberta McCain seems to be siding with Michael Steele,
“I think [Michael Steele] was exactly right when he defined [Limbaugh] as an entertainer,” she said on the Tonight Show. “To my horror, the Republican Party made him back up on it.”
Mother Roberta is not the only McCain to attack Limbaugh recently. John McCain’s daughter Meghan McCain has been blasting the likes of Ann Coulter and Rush Limbaugh in numerous media appearances, and has been calling on the GOP to redefine itself closer to the center.
Meanwhile, Limbaugh and his legion of followers have called out Michael Steele as a RINO (Republican in Name Only). Limbaugh has also been highly critical of John McCain, whom he accuses of not being a true conservative.
Clearly, the McCains are ready for a good old fashion family feud. Limbaugh should prepare to take on three generations of the McCains.

At least we can observe that McCain came by his political inclinations honestly.
As for who’s going to come out on top in this little tiff between Limbaugh and the McCain clan - we only need remember whose approach to running the republican party was tried in the last election.
That turned out well, didn’t it?

Now this is a race that will get me to vote McCain.

Mrs. McCain is 100%, completely wrong. Rush Limbaugh embodies the essence of what it means to be a Republican today, and should remain the leader of the GOP, if not in fact, then in spirit. There is really nothing more to say about it. It is my fondest wish that the GOP will remain faithful to its true calling over the coming years, and that Rush Limbaugh will remain its leader. God bless Rush Limbaugh, and God bless the GOP. Or, er, maybe, God HELP the GOP.

I think we tried the McCain brand of politics and failed miserably. The party can do without the McCains but it can’t do without Limbaugh and Levin. God Bless you always Rush - we all love you and are very proud of you. Where was your big-mouth Roberta when you son was dumping and cheating on his first wife?
