Disgraced former Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich will have legal representation after all. It seems that he was having some trouble getting an attorney who would commit to taking the case for fear they wouldn’t be paid. The only attorney who had agreed to take Blagojevich’s case is Sheldon Sorosky.
His attorneys will be paid $110 per hour, which is the maximum a court appointed lawyer can charge in a federal case. This is far below the fees these defense attorneys usually command. They have agreed to settle for the $110 per hour fee in exchange for being allowed to tap into the Blagojevich $2.3 million campaign fund. So don’t worry, I don’t think any of them are going to go without the basic necessities of life for defending former governor turned celebrity Blagojevich.
I’m sure you remember that Blagojevich is facing federal charges of scheming to sell Barack Obama’s Senate seat, using his influence as Governor to get campaign contributions and being basically corrupt. Of course, that makes him the toast of the left and opens up all sorts of opportunities for celebrity ventures. It seems that the evidence in the case against Blagojevich would take 51 years to read. I have no idea how the determine that, but it sounds impressive. I don’t know why they are making such a big deal about selling Obama’s Senate seat. It’s pretty much brand spanking new and certainly was barely used.
Oh - today is Mother’s Day! Tigerhawk has a politically incorrect and sure to offend article for the mother’s in our lives. Well, not mine, but yours. Maybe not yours. Well, anyway, the easily offended need not click. Its Saturday Night Live’s Motherlover. Check it out. Also make sure you check out James Joyner’s Redneck Mother’s Day.

Have you noticed that we’ve been hearing more from Dick Cheney since he left office than we ever did while he was IN office? He has a lot to say … and a lot to offer.
Speaking of having a lot to offer, someone in the main stream media said something nice about Alaska Governor Sarah Palin!!! You could knock me down with a feather!
“Saturday Night Live” senior producer Marci Klein said during an interview last week, “This is the most confident person I’ve ever met.”
There’s a new blockbuster photo of the Air Force One flyover that created panic in New York City last week. It’s truly shocking! No wonder the White House only released the one photo they agreed to release after public pressure!
Barack Obama’s super rich supporters are starting to get worried about what Obama actually MEANS when he says he is going to redistribute wealth. You mean he really meant that? He’s like, gonna take their money. There’s some shaking, trembling and gnashing of the teeth going on amongst the Effete EliteTM even as we speak!
It seems that the President is getting back to his union thug roots.
Could it be that Chicagoans are getting tired of corruption in Chicago? It could be. It turns out that activists in the city are asking Obama to do something about the murder rate in Chicago. Personally, I think he’s already done a LOT for Chicago politics. He’s taken most of his friends with him to Washington, D.C. What more do they want?
He took the Militantly Monarchical Michelle with him, for instance. Over at Grizzly Groundswell, they are discussing her militantly monarchical statement that ‘Everyone should have a chief of staff and a set of personal assistants.’ I’m not sure if that was before or after her husband said, ‘Let them eat Wagyu steak and arugula‘! They are such unpretentious and humble people!
Here’s a video of one Chicagoan Obama threw under the bus didn’t take to D.C. with him. Former Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich doing what he’s doing now … entertaining.

$110 an hour is waaaaaaay below market price. I’m sure his attorney is only doing it for the publicity. Sad. For the sake of Illinois, he should just plead out. But then, I guess Blajo never really thought about anything but himself…
