Michelle Malkin has an interesting story stating that there was a similar plan to have “Scareforce One” photo op next month in Washington DC. Malkin reports:
So, is it any wonder he would staff his White House Military Office with a clueless paper-pusher who saw nothing wrong with spending inordinate government resources – and recreating 9/11 havoc — to update Air Force One publicity shots? And who planned, believe it or not, to do the same in Washington, D.C., next month, where 53 passengers and 6 crew members on board American Airlines Flight 77, and 125 military and civilian personnel inside the Pentagon were murdered by the 9/11 jihadists? All for some damned publicity shots.
I know you libs think this is no big deal, we all have problems in our personal life . . . wait, that was the other Democrat president. I mean, you guys all think that buzzing Wall Street was a perfectly normal thing for the president to do and can’t understand why the Vast Right Wing Conspiracy is so upset over this photo op. To me, this just proves how utterly clueless the administration is. Whether it’s giving DVD value packs to the Prime Minister of England or re-enacting 9-11 for a photo file update (at the cost of nearly $400,000), it just seems to me that no one in the administration knows what is going on. Didn’t anyone think to call Mayor Bloomberg? Perhaps letting the good citizens of NYC know that “this is just a drill” would have been an expedient thing to do. Then again, why would anyone in the administration care? They have been able to get away with any thing they want to and have the MSM cover for them for about a year now, why not some aeronautical hyjinks as well?
I’m guess the DC flyover will get postponed, after all, Obama is going to get to the bottom of this (just like he promised about the Sen. Burris seat).
BTW, if you want to see some great humor (in the vein of the Mastercard commercials), check this out. “There are some things money can’t buy, for everything else, there’s government.”

This is a sign of lack of coordination/common sense.
The real problem is, any guy off the street will tell you that this is just a STUPID idea. And yet it got through multiple layers of government.
Someone needs to get fired.

Ig,
I vote for Barry.
This is how healthcare will be run. When spending money for crap like this, it is best not to draw attention to it. Had Bush done this, the media would have had a hissy fit over it. Thing is they probably did this when Bush was in office but no one knew.
Barry in Charge is the best show on TV.

Hey, all the democrats I know think it was idiotic too. Obama seemed to indicate that also. There’s no justification, and the White House did not try to do so. Are there any high ranking Dems or pundits trying to explain it away? Got video link? Part of the problem with the Bush years, from a Dem perspective, is that he never admitted to do anything wrong. We really don’t want to repeat that, especially for something as egregious as this.
CNN.com said the DC one was canceled. It never should have been planned, but at least this was found and appropriate action taken. I’m not saying this makes everything ok, and criticism is certainly deserved.
I guess I take most exception to the perception here that Dems are trying to explain this away when I’ve seen the opposite.
