I spent four hours today trying to find the Wordpress plugin that would allow trackbacks to appear on the homepage rather than merely in the comments of a post.
The immediate goal was to fulfull the requirements for entry into the Open Trackback Alliance (OTA) although it is a desirable feature for anyone to help promote those who are helping their blogs. The OTA is benevolently hosted by The Crazy Rants of Samantha Burns.
All of the documentation in the blogosphere pointed to Simply Kimberly which maddeningly doesn’t have the plugin anymore. So after the big search in which all roads dead-ended, I finally learned that the plugin is contained at My Vast Right Wing Conspiracy. Many thanks to My Vast Right Wing Conspiracy for hosting that plugin!
As for pasting the php code into your index.php theme page, note that you have to eliminate the space between the first bracket and the ? mark for it to work.
Lastly, here is a patient tutorial of what beginners should know about trackbacks.

Hello McCain,
Thank you for the mention in your post and I’m glad to hear the tutorial was helpful.
Also, since all comments/trackbacks on the blog are moderated, your pingback didn’t show up right away. But, I did want to stop in and let you know that your pingback to the tutorial did work.
Warm regards,
