Apparently, the American people are more interested in seeing Barack Obama shirtless. Because with the arrival of the Obamas in Washington, came a ‘celebrity aspect that has brought energy to the city and the attention of the paparazzi.’ This is all according to Garrett Graff, editor-at-large at The Washingtonian magazine, a monthly style/culture publication.
“The Obamas are the center of attention here and the whole world is looking to Washington now in a way we haven’t seen in years,” Graff said, calling it “a real golden age of Washington.”
Call me crazy but couldn’t ‘the golden age’ of Washington have been illustrated with the President of the United States fully clothed? And this certainly isn’t the normal cover the magazine usually does so is the ‘Buff Bam’ just an attempt to sell more magazines?
Of course it is.
“It’s a unique time in Washington and this photo helps capture all of the reasons why,” Graff said. “It’s not a normal way to look at a president of the United States but this is not a normal president.”
Ah. More Messiah worship with maybe a wee bit of a man crush? Graff has said the magazine used the papparazzi photo to illustrate two things: first, the president himself is hot – “you have a buff president and the paparazzi like taking shirtless photos of him,” Graff said – and second, the Obamas’ presence in Washington is “really hot.”
So there you go. Hot and really hot. Graff said they did not check with the White House before publishing and have not heard anything from them one way or another. The Washingtonian Magazine, featuring a shirtless Obama on the cover in ‘My Neighbor is Hot’, hits newsstands on Wednesday.

Hot and really hot, huh?
You know, Bush is 20 years older than this guy and is definitely buff. Of course, he’s lifted more than a fountain pen in his life.
Obama is NOT ‘hot’. He’s a nerd. He probably wore a pocket protector in college. There’s nothing wrong with being a nerd. But let him be what he is and quit trying to make him something he’s not.
Why is it the Obama worshipers have to act like they lust after him? He’s no Denzel Washington or Hugh Jackman. He is what he is. Why can’t they appreciate his politics or policies and show him the respect one would expect someone to show a president they admire? Instead, they reduce him to celebrity status (ala Britney Spears).
The best they can do is look for paparazzi photos of him topless? That’s really a sad statement of their complete lack of respect for him and his leadership abilities.

What mentally challenged 3rd grader designed your site? You ask us to click through some rather uneventful photographs (and some confusing drawings) of the President…not even sure what your point is with all of that. BUT that becomes moot anyway because you have you’re little advertisement blaring on every new page that comes up as we click through the photographs….and STARTING OVER every time. LOL. Little does your paying customer know, we never get past the first annoying 5 seconds.

I saw your cover featuring President Obama on the cover on Channel 7 news this morning, and I was again extremely disappointed in the lack of respect by the media for the Office of the President of the United States. No wonder we are being verbally and politically attacked by the rest of the world. There was an outcry from the people of England when Mrs. Obama touched the Queen in a show affection and respect, but you, you have chosen to degrade YOUR Commander and Chief for the whole world to see. I hope your attempt at increased magazine sales at the expense of the Office of the President falls flat!!!

This media story supports the opinion that there are too many hours in a day to fill on television with news of interest. Changing a background of a magazine cover photo has been standard in journalizm and publishing for years. Changing the color of the President’s swimsuit from black to red as the only “enhancement” is mionor compared to the caking on of makeup by news anchors on all networks to cover up physical reality. And, I am confident that our the Forst Lady prefers the red swimsuit.

Washingtonian Magazine thought they were highlighting and given the president power by showing his chest and changing the colour of his shorts to cordinate with his skin colour.
The intent was honourable, but how they went about it is wrong.
Firstly, the president and general public would rather have his mind and personality empowered, and not his bod. Looks are deceiving – you cannot judge a book by its cover and by what politicians simply say. Instead, they must be judged by integrity – doing moral things that they say. O has already proven that integrity – don’t destroy that by showing his bod. It does not matter that he sexy chest.
Secondly, one cannot change his colour of his
shorts, just to look good. This is the second
code of ethics by the photographer that was broken. The Washingtonian is a documentary publication and the major change of colour to one’s personal belongings ( colour of shorts ) cannot be done.
In short, by erring twice, the photographer, instead of empowering the president, reduced
the president’s integrity – his mind, personality, and acheivements – to a body. An official apology is the only way to rectify this.

Since I’ve been in Washington, I have always thought the Washingtonian to be a class magazine.
