A suburban school board just south of Seattle has restricted showings of Al Gore’s movie on global warming, and is requiring that it be balanced with an opposing viewpoint. The board also insisted that Superintendent Tom Murphy approve when “An Inconvenient Truth” can be shown.

The decision was made after the school board received several complaints from parents who said their children were accepting the information provided in the film as fact after viewing it at school. Ed Barney, school board president, told The News Tribune of Tacoma that he’d received about a half-dozen complaints from concerned parents.

In an article atThe Olympian Online one parent of seven said, “Condoms don’t belong in school, and neither does Al Gore. He’s not a schoolteacher,” and school board member Dave Larson said, “We have to ensure that our schools are not being used to politically indoctrinate anyone,” said board member Dave Larson.

Of course Laurie David, co producer of “An Inconvenient Truth”, released a prepared statement that said in part, “I am shocked that a school district would come to this decision,” and incorrectly pointed out that “There is no opposing view to science, which is fact, and the facts are clear that global warming is here, now.”

I wonder what Laurie David and her liberal gal pals are saying about the effects of global warming today?
