Republican strategist Karl Rove has called Vice President Joe Biden a ‘liar’ and a ‘serial exaggerator’. The Karl Rove – Joe Biden feud is an extension of a feud created by chronic misstatements by Biden about his role in the Bush Administration. Read about it below and see photos and a video of the interview with Rove.

Joe Biden

The first time I remember seeing Joe Biden on television, conducting a fact-finding session for a Senate committee. I don’t remember what the show Senate session was about. What I do remember is the Joe Biden was snarling up his nose and acting like a tough guy with whoever was the witness the Senate committee was grilling. He appeared to be putting on quite a show for the television cameras and it was embarrassing to watch.

Biden’s previous runs for President have been nothing short of pathetic. He ran for President in 1987-1988 and had to withdraw after it was discovered he was plagiarizing the speech of a British Labour Party politician, even to the point of appropriating as his own personal stories the Brit told on the campaign stump. The was made worse by the revelation that Biden had been caught plagiarizing to get through law school and embellishing his academic achievements.

Then in his 2007-2008 run for the Presidency, he ended his campaign after getting approximately 9,000 votes total. That’s probably his extended family and all of their friends, plus the people who would vote from him just because he’s from Delaware.

Now, astonishingly, he’s vice president. When Carolyn Kennedy stepped into the political spotlight and, as her first public service, recommended Joe Biden as Barack Obama’s running mate, it was apparent that she had no business in politics.

You might recall that during the Obama – Biden campaign, there were numerous times that Biden had to be reigned in for not having any filter between his brain and his mouth. He often reassured crowds not to worry about Obama’s inexperience because he, Biden, would be there all the time. He said they were going to work closely together and Obama would make no decisions without his advice. He discussed national security with crowds, seemingly to reassure them that he knew how things were, was wise, worldly and would not let this young, ‘clean and articulate’ President go astray.

Oh great. A braggart and a bore as co-presidents.

Lately, Biden has been bragging about how he had to speak truth to power with former President George W. Bush. His outlandish claims about the extent of his own power and influence have not been going over well with the former Bush staff. In fact, they are coming out and saying that what Biden has claimed happened just didn’t happen.

Now Karl Rove has picked up the gauntlet and is advising Biden that the behavior he got away with as a Senator is unbecoming for a vice president.

“I hate to say this, but he’s a serial exaggerator,” Rove told FOX News. “If I was being unkind I would say liar. But it is a habit he ought to drop.”

Rove added: “You should not exaggerate and lie like this when you are the Vice President of the United States.”

This is in response to a statement from Biden that he had rebuked Bush in the Oval Office. During an interview on CNN, Biden said that when Bush had told him that he was a leader, Biden had responded by telling Bush to look behind him, no one is following.

Other top Bush aids are collaborating Rove’s assessment of Biden’s tendency to exaggerate, or make up stories ‘out of whole cloth’, including former White House press secretary Ari Fleischer, chief of staff Andy Card and legislative liaison Candida Wolff.

Other Biden stories include that he has claimed on several previous occasions to have dressed down President Bush on the Iraq war. A conversation that no one believes happened. He claimed to have been shot at while on a visit to Iraq. As he was questioned about the story, it changed from being shot at, to being near where a shot was fired, to being in a building while there was shooting outside, to being in a building shaving when it shook from shooting in the distance. He also bragged about being in a helicopter that was shot down in Afghanistan. It turned out that the helicopter he and other Senators were in landed due to weather. They were protected by air cover and escorted out of the area by our most excellent military men. No shots were fired. It was just snowy and cold.
