It’s happened yet again, this time with a twist. Two teachers, from the same middle school, are accused of having sex with one of their students – the same 13 year old boy! Read more about it below, see photos, and watch a video.

Linda Nef age 46, and Valynne Bowers age 39, both teach at Bountiful Junior High School in Bountiful, Utah. Linda Nef teaches Utah Studies and is the cheerleading coach and Valynne Bowers teaches Math. Besides having teaching in common, they both – in separate relationships – are accused of sexually abusing one of their students, the same 13 year old boy.
Until recently, these two pathetic excuses for teachers did not know about each other’s relationship with the same boy. The whole nasty affair came out when one teacher, Linda Nef, reportedly found out about the other teacher, Valynne Bowers. Nef went to the cops and reportedly confessed. Was she jealous? Or did she know with another person now involved, it was going to go public in a matter of time anyway? Who knows.
Of course we’re all familiar with the excuses; we’ve seen a lot of these cases in the last few years. This is how the teachers say it happened: it started out ‘harmlessly’ – they simply began talking about the boy’s ‘personal problems’. Then, somehow, it progressed to naughty text messages, then to phone sex, and then a full-blown sexual relationship. Blech! Setting aside the lack of morals, ethics and personal boundaries, how does a woman even ‘go there’ with a 13 year old boy?
Police report that Nef says she and the boy had sex for over a year. They say Bowers says her ‘relationship’ with the boy began in December of 2008. The boy is reportedly cooperating with the police.
The investigation so far indicates none of the alleged sex acts with the 13 year old boy occurred at the school. Instead, the teachers allegedly went with the student to homes, parking lots or parks. Sounds lovely doesn’t it?
Linda Nef has just resigned her teaching post at BJH and Valynne Bowers is on administrative leave until this whole sordid mess can be figured out. The Davis County Attorney’s Office filed first-degree felony charges of rape and sodomy against them both. If these charges are true, please put them away for a long time.

People are way too politically correct. The reality is that young boys are getting a freebie if they get laid so young and its good for them. It is the reverse for a young girl. Men and women are biologically different, so it is not a double standard, it is just reality.
I agree about the boy’s choice here, though. Those ladies are not exactly a score, but hopefully he can parlay his conquest into some hotter bootie!

The real crux of the issue here isnt whether or not theres biological differences and that any of that gives any of this a pass.
It raises the question as to what kind of standards are we allowing in the selection of our teachers and are they really appropriate role models ?
My 14 year old boy shouldnt be going to school to screw his teacher period. I remember having the hots for a couple of my junior high teachers but thinking back of they ever took advatage of my juvenile lust they sure as hell wouldnt be helping me focus on any academics.
Then theres the whole morallity issue.
Not all boys will grow up and reflect back on this as some kind of trophy or bragging right but instead could have some seriouse developed attitudes towards women.
Jeez, I just found out that sex ed in my boys school teaches them how to put on a rubber using a dildo as a prop.
Yet no one has ever even taken a course in first aid.

The teachers are problematic, even bizarre, but I am not sure how much we want to criminalize them for this spreading behavior as it doesn’t seem to be stopping it. I am not saying we can trust them to teach kids either. Just maybe something else is going on here that is societal and biologic in nature rather than simply criminal. Just maybe. As we throw yet more people in our prisions, just more line up on the path to prisonhood. Its got to have something to do with our population density and changing social culture as well.

Brian – I think it does have something to do with the changes in our social culture. Primarily – that we have distanced ourselves from the core values that made our country strong in the beginning. Instead, we live in an ‘anything goes’ and ‘whatever feels good’ society that has lost its moral foundation. Thus, we have ppl who want what they want when they want it and who have no societal price to pay for behavior that is outside the cultural norms.

The famous Rutgers –too many rats in a box experiement. Increase the rat density beyond x and you get a dramatic increase in homiicide, fighting, territorial intrusions, the old eating the young, every bizarre behavior you can think of, an amoral rat socieity, then decrease the population back to under x where things quiet down again. rats are mammals too, just like us. So we fix these people by crowding them into overpacted prisons? A moral code helps up to a point, then it too breaks down to the physical reality assualting it.

Hey, when you’re 13 you gotta take what you can get. The kid is obviously a natural at seducing women (which isn’t hard once you learn the formula).
If it were my kid, I’d scold a little, but would still be proud of him, as long as his grades were fine.
and btw, I think learning how to use a condom properly is probably the best first aid you can teach them. (though I don’t know why you need a class lesson to figure that out).

A.J. – just a couple of questions. So you have a ‘formula’ for seducing women? I assume that would only work on women who want it to work or who are not bright enough to realize they are being manipulated. What happens when you want a real relationship with a real woman and therefore would have to be a genuine person with her? Or is it all about manipulation and conquests.
Also, since you’d be proud of your son, would you also be proud of your 13 year old daughter if she were seducing her teachers?
Just curious.

I never said that learning to use a condom was a bad thing but I’m willing to bet that theres more kids getting cuts, scrapes, sprains, broken bones than their are ones getting pregnant.

If my kid sees an old lady or a buddy of his fall and get cut while spraining an ankel or something whats hes gonna do ? Put a condom over it and it’ll all be better ?

Arch, public schools suck but I want my kid to get sick. I want him exposed to whatever ailments society in general has to offer.
This is the only way they’ll develope natural immunities on their own. I want them to fall, get hurt, learn how to deal with it and get back and go to it again.
My neighbor home schools her two daughters and they’re the two weirdest kids I’ve ever seen.
They have absolutley no social skills, cant interact or get along with anyone, along with some strange habits that are just downright scary at times. Whenever I speak to them theres this glossed over blank stare on their faces and it looks like its all going in one ear and out the other.

I’d like to think that humans have just a few more scruples than some rat in a box.
All you’re trying to do is find some mechanism that gives selfish horny fantasies a pass.
Will this have lasting effects on the boy ? Maybe, maybe not, but its not for our teachers to allow for that scenario to take place I dont care what kind of societel elements you want to justify it with.
I’m not trying to find a reason here to understand the teachers. What I understand and all that matters is that shes not doing my son any favors in any dept.

the woman writing this calls the teachers pathetic, but does it matter it’s not like the kid didn’t want the sex; they always think the little boy is victimized in these situations, but if he is banging two of his teachers he’s the one with the problem…sex addict anyone? So, maybe it’s not just the teacher’s who should be penalized.

As unlikely as it is even if the kid is a sex addict is that what he should be penalized for ?

I live here is quiet Bountiful..what a joke. People here have their heads so far deep into the sand they never think anything can happen. THis is the same school where a teacher threatened to kill students and teachers and it was pushed under the rug. It also produced another fine citizen who, after graduating from high school, killed his mother and stuffed her in a freezer. Nothing bad ever happens here in Utah, though.
I be these two predators will get away with a plea deal. They should be treated the same as if they were men and the the students was female. But they won’t.

Quite a few commenters seem to think this is a score for the thirteen year old. Isn’t anyone thinking about sexually transmitted diseases or the fact that if the boy had gotten one of these idiots pregnant it would have ruined his life. I somehow doubt these two geniuses would think to provide condoms.
