Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, has called on President Barack Obama to continue what he is doing and head down the path of socialism. Chavez made these comments today on Venezuelan state television. Read more, photos and video below.
Chavez mentioned that Obama was being criticized for the policies that he has implemented thus far, and added that he should continue down the path to socialism to help America out of its current economic crisis. Thanks Hugo, I think we can handle it on our own without advice from a socialist communist dictator; made in the mold of Fidel Castro. From Bloomberg:
“It’s regrettable the crisis that the U.S. is living through. Millions of workers are being left in the street, thousands of companies are closing, in the U.S. there isn’t a single new infrastructure project. Go look for a highway there, the country has gone bust.”
“Now President Obama arrived with some announcements, hopefully, but the capitalist model and its perverse values have failed.”
“I recommend to Obama — they’re criticizing him because they say he’s moving towards socialism — come Obama, ally with us on the path to socialism, it’s the only road.”
“Imagine a socialist revolution in the U.S. Nothing is impossible.”
I’m sure Chavez is really torn up about the “crisis” America is living through. We have plenty of highways, Mr. Chavez, I don’t go a day without sitting in traffic because of road construction. Whether Obama supporters want to admit it or not, President Obama is going down the path to socialism. When America’s enemies are happy because of our government’s policies, that is something to be concerned about.
Venezuela is a country of price controls and shortages, they are not a “rich country” by any means, despite being the fifth largest member of OPEC; terrible leadership and bad economic policies are the reason Venezuela is not the country for Barack Obama to emulate. Thanks Mr. Chavez, but I think we will do our best to keep Barack Obama from following you down the path of socialism.

another repub distortion. As far as I can tell chavez is a dictator who likes to look like he’s doing good for the public when in fact he demeans them and insists on being “presidentia for life” which is a whole basket case of difference from what Obama is doing. They are trying not to nationalize companys, and trying to find strategies to help them survive by loaning them money and credit essentially in return for some kind of stake in them that can be bought out later. thats a completely different dimension than what is going on in venezuela

Brian,
I really want you to be right. However, it is unnerving that the Messiah will not respond to this at all but focuses all of his attention on Rush Limbaugh. It is both disconcerting and very strange.

Mdelfi, well obama may be one of those overconfident characters who has generally had success in everything he does so doubting is not an option. could be. The presidency ages everyone fast for a reason so I suspect he has met his match. I was wondering if obama is so much better than most of his hired help that he will have problems implementing his programs. You are right that the white house has chosen to highlight limbaugh’s personality as emblematic of the right wing repubs as they see this as a way to further polarize and diminish the party. He is just a talk show personality, a howard stern of the conservative movement really and the repubs have to pick some sane leadership the center party can feel comfortable with too.

Yea right, follow the path of Chavez so we can have Obama be the first socialist modern say US president with no term limits.
Besides that, Chavez cant make up his mind where he stands with Obama. he just told him last week “Dont mess with me”

“Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez on Saturday condemned a US report on global counternarcotics, saying President Barack Obama is continuing the policies of his predecessor, George W. Bush.
“Is there a new government in the United States or is it Bush still in power? Obama seems to be a continuation of the Bush era. But it doesn’t matter to me. Regardless of US imperialism, this revolution will continue its course,” Chavez said in a speech.
“The Obama administration has again attacked Venezuela. He said that Venezuela and I, even citing my name, do not cooperate in the fight against drug trafficking. The country that most supports drug trafficking on this planet is the United States.
“The United States is the world’s leading consumer of drugs. Why can’t they stop drugs from coming into their country? Obama, you take care of your business and I’ll take care of mine. Don’t mess with me, Mr Obama,” he added.”

How can Chavez be a dictator if he has been elected several times by popular vote?
Anyway, in America you have socialism - it’s called socialism for the rich. When the economy goes wrong you tax the poor so as to give billions to wealthy corporations.

Andy I’m just wondering what it’s like living in the dream world you inhabit?
March 8th, 2009 at 6:37 am
andy, he keeps pushing out the opposition so he wins the vote and then he keeps adding the number of times he can be re-elected to lifetime and then he nationalizes foriegn owned businesses for the state and then jails his opposition and runs the local political councils through his humiliation meetings. They had a good hour on him on npr not so long ago and showed him running his counsil meetings where he asks the questions and the council leaders must answer to his satisfactiona and then he is never satisfied so he humiliates them in public, his version of jumping up on the table and scolding everyone, people who can disappear at his whim. Its awful to see.

I just have one statement for americans. We really don’t need Hugo Chavez to tell us that. We knew we were heading towards Socialism the second FDR was elected president. It was enhanced the second JFK and Johnson became president and raised taxes, increased spending, and regulation. We were Socialist when Carter became president, but luckily Reagan and Bush saved us from the path we took. We were starting to go down the path for Socialism in the first two years of Clinton, but Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich,RNC chairman Haley Barbour, and Senate Majority Leader Bob Dole prevented Clinton from doing what he planned on doing. Think of it like this the last time the Democrats had Washington, Congress, and the Senate with massive leads we had Jimmy Carter as president. Now not only do we have the most Socialistic president of them all, but we have the most Socialistic Congress and Senate of them all. Now here’s the scary thing throughout FDR three terms the economy kept on sinking and taxes kept on rising. Now why did he win three terms, because he blamed everything on Hoover and made americans feel good. Now thats what obama has that Republicans need for 2012. So I would advise Republicans to pick someone like Mike Huckabee who makes americans feel good about being americans just like Ronald Reagan or Dwight Easenhower. So anyway as for 2012 I want a guy who can take us out of Socialism and bring us back to Capitalism. And thats going to be hard to find for one reason. If obama gives everyone Healthcare and has all of these stupid programs we will need someone who is so wild and doesn’t care about approval ratings so much they’ll do anything. So I hate to say it, but the only guy who can do that is Ron Paul. Simple because this guy doesn’t care about approval ratings he only cares about america and thats what we need.

Charles - I just went through the spam filter and didn’t find any comments from you there? Comments sometimes get caught in spam or go to moderation, depending on several factors. But yours aren’t there - at least not today. Could it be a problem on your end?

Thank you for telling me that I think I found the problem.
March 9th, 2009 at 5:57 pm
Yea, what happened ?
Everytime I post now I have to re submit my E-mail and name all over again.
If I forget and submit the post it gets shot into oblivion, never to be seen again.
Can you get it back to where it remembers us ?

Well, Rupaul has some good economic policies but his foreign policies might negate that.
Plus, with that temperment sometimes he looks like a constipated Barney Fife ready to give birth.

I just love the “tax the rich” people. Their class envy and it’s not fair attitude makes me sick. My boss is wealthy. He also provides me and 25 other people with a job. Tax those to death that have their own business and because “they have more than I do” and watch the unemployment lines get even longer.
