Conservative commentator Tony Blankley has coined the phrase ‘Obama Lied; The Economy Died’ in response to the whopper President Obama told last week when he claimed he was not for bigger government. Read Tony Blankley’s biography, see photos, and watch a fun video.
‘Obama Lied The Economy Died’ is of course a knock off from the loud drumbeat of ‘Bush Lied People Died’ that the far left chronically cackled during President Bush’s time in the White House.
We know President Bush didn’t lie about weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. He was mistaken - as was every other leader amongst our allies, their secret service organizations, and the UN.
But President Obama told a huge lie last week when he claimed he was not for bigger government. He said this in his speech to congress:
“As soon as I took office, I asked this Congress to send me a recovery plan by President’s Day that would put people back to work and put money in their pockets. Not because I believe in bigger government - I don’t.”
In his six weeks in office, we have seen our wealth cut in half; our debt load is now regenerational; and his budget - coupled with the porkulus - a ‘declaration of hostility’ toward capitalists across the economy.
Yep. Obama Lied; The Economy Died. Welcome to the age of Obama.
Tony Blankley was born in 1948 in London and became a naturalized American citizen when he and his family moved to Los Angeles after World War II.
He actually worked as a child actor in television and films, first encountering then actor Ronald Reagan when both appeared at a 1950’s-era USO performance. In years that followed, he volunteered to work on all of Ronald Reagan’s campaigns for governor and president.
Tony’s educational background includes an undergraduate degree in political science from UCLA, a law degree from Loyola University and a certificate in international law from the University of London.
He has been deputy attorney general of California, moving to Washington in 1980 to join the staff of President Ronald Reagan, serving as speechwriter, senior policy analyst and deputy director of planning and evaluation. He was also press secretary and general adviser to Newt Gingrich.
Tony Blankley is well known for his commentary, his academic arguments, and even-tempered perspective. Tony has been a weekly commentator on ‘The McLaughlin Group’ and a regular contributor to news analysis on CNN, MSNBC, Fox News, CBS and ABC. He is currently the editor of the editorial page of The Washington Times and the author of The West’s Last Chance: Will We Win the Clash of Civilizations?.
Tony Blankley and his wife, Lynda Davis, are parents of three children and live in Great Falls, Virginia where they share an 11-acre farm with a menagerie of horses, sheep, rabbits, peacocks, dogs, cats and llamas.

Its almost unbelievable that this administration has done this much damage in just 6 weeks. What on earth will happen in 4 years? They aren’t just incompetent. They are toxic.

The irresponsible spending and lies MUST end now, today. Obama Lied, Our Economy Died!

This begs the question: What would have happened to the economy if the president had done nothing?
Please recall that the words “economic crisis” were being forcefully used long before Mr. Obama was elected.
And also recall that Mr. Obama’s fiscal interventions are only one of the government’s tools to manage the economic welfare of the country. There’s little discussion of the Federal Reserve and its monetary policy.
And 100, I agree that the irresponsible spending must end now. But who in the past has been irresponsible? Wall Street? Home buyers? Our government? Or all of the above.
Do conservatives have a constructive response to the current situation besides “let the market correct itself?” Or should I say, “crash and burn?”
