Just one short glance at Mayra Veronica is proof positive that women with curves are coming back in vogue. She has curves on top of curves and the men of our military love it. Well, I think a lot of men love it. I love it because she is one celebrity that is unashamed to love our country and love the men and women who serve in harms way. As she says, she couldn’t do what she does if they didn’t protect her rights to do it.

I’ve noticed that people who are born under oppressive governments are a lot more appreciative of the freedoms they enjoy in the United States.

Mayra Veronica’s name is sometimes misspelled as Myra Veronica. Either way, she dazzles when she takes her trips to the war zones in Iraq and Afghanistan to sing for our troops and to pose for pictures and give them hugs and kisses of appreciation. I just know they are loving that.

A long time ago, I wrote about Dana Borisova who was the official sex symbol for the Russian Army. I wondered at the time why our soldiers didn’t have their own sex symbol. It just doesn’t seem right for the Russians to get one and the Americans not to have one. Well, apparently that problem has been taken care of thanks to Ms. Veronica!

Mayra Veronica Aruca Rodriguez was born in Havana, Cuba on August 20, 1980. She is 28-years-old. She and her mother moved to the United States when she was 5 years old, leaving her father and sister behind in Cuba. Her father joined them a year later, but her sister was not able to get out of Cuba for another 13 years. The family settled in a Cuban community in Miami, Floria. They were very poor and Mayra has talked about her struggles as a child. She took ballet throughout her childhood, but she had to work to pay for her lessons. She has also openly talked about the difficult circumstances she lived with at home. She has been estranged from her father and says she is not willing to reconcile.

She developed her curves early and was ‘voluptuous’ during her adolescent years, much to the pleasure of her male classmates. However, her curvy figure wasn’t conducive to a career in ballet and so she turned her attention to acting instead. She began entering and winning beauty pageants. She was second runner-up as Miss Miami and Miss Hispanic America.

She is a graduate from Florida International University with a degree in psychology and a minor in business. She began traveling to New York to study at the famed Strassberg Institute for acting. She started earning roles on stage, television, Spanish language ads and modeling. In Florida she worked as a host for a Miami television entertainment magazine, Miami Hoy. She is the top downloaded female personality on the Univision website.

Mayra has been chosen as FHM’s ‘top 100 sexiest women in the world’ three years in a row. She has been on the covers of fashion magazines and men’s magazines and done countless commercials.

Mayra was one of the top selling calendars in 2004, 2005 and 2006. She was recently voted the US Military Troops ‘Favorite Pin Up Girl’. She had decided to stop making calendars, but because of her popularity with the Troops, she is making more calendars and all the proceeds are going to veterans organizations and agencies that support the Troops.

She is also a singer and is preparing for a promotional tour for her debut American Album.
