The “No Stimulus Petition” petition is a project of Americans for Prosperity. It is spreading like wildfire – some 69,000 petitions were delivered to Congress on February 6, 2009. See photo and video below.

Americans for Prosperity: No Stimulus Petition

The first batch of no-stimulus petitions were sorted by state, shrink-wrapped and delivered to Senators acting as advocates…Senators who could get the petitions delivered to the appropriate legislators. People are still signing, and petitions will continue to be delivered.

As I write this, it is impossible to log on to the websites for Americans for Prosperity or NoStimulus.com. Don’t let that deter you. Be encouraged that so many “real” Americans out here in the “real” world are attempting to take a stand, sign a petition and stop this legislation.

If you have not signed the petition, keep trying the websites. Get your name on the petition if at all possible.

National Review Online’s Fifty De-Stimulating Facts is the best outline of the stimulus bill that I’ve found. It is explained by category: benefit to family and neighborhood stabilization, government, renewable waste, the spread of wealth, the stabilization of states (yes, you read that right), and some tax relief.

As we contact our legislators, and as the vote happens, these expenditures should be burned into our consciousness.

The first video below is Tim Phillips, the Americans for Prosperity President, explaining how the petitions work and how he is getting them to the legislators. The second video is at the same event. Several Senators speak, but this one features Senator Jim Inhofe (R-OK).
