Former Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich makes a pit stop at ‘Late Show with David Letterman’ on Tuesday in which he jokingly compares himself to the currently tantruming ‘Batman’ star, Christian Bale. Yes, he really did. Read more about it below, see a photo and watch the video for yourself.
So, now that he’s made the full media tour on all the networks and cable channels, why wouldn’t he be on with David Letterman? The problem for Rod Blagojevich however, is that Letterman really wasn’t very nice to him.
Between loud applause and alot of nervous fidgeting, Blago sat down with Letterman to answer questions about his potty mouth tape recordings in which the governor is heard allegedly trying to sell Barack Obama’s Senate seat and shake down his own constituents for contributions. There was this funny exchange between the two:
“I’ve been wanting to be on your show in the worst way for the longest time,” Blagojevich said.
“Well, you’re on in the worst way, believe me,” said Letterman.
David Letterman asked Blago about his chronic insistance that his Illinois impeachment trial did not provide him with due process. In referring to the 13 impeachment counts against him, Letterman said to Blagojevich, “You’re telling me each one of those was a misunderstanding?” Blagojevich returned to his consistent theme—that when the entire contents of FBI wiretaps are heard, he’ll be vindicated. The audience simply
At one point, Letterman moves to play an excerpt from one of the recordings, and then pauses and cracks to Blagojevich, ‘Go ahead and set up the clip.’ Blagojevich like a good sport (or a fool) laughs.
After an excerpt is played, Letterman asks Blagojevich to explain what was happening on the tape, because the ex-governor has claimed his conversations have been taken out of context.
“I was afraid you were gonna have some of those other tapes, where I sound like Christian Bale,” Blagojevich replies with a smile.
I think Dave Letterman said to Rod Blagojevich what many of us already feel; the more he talks and repeats his claims of innocence, the more we all say to ourselves, “Oh, this guy is guilty!”
