A New York City bakery has been selling special ‘Drunken Negro Head’ cookies in honor of Barack Obama. He doesn’t see a problem with it, but some people are complaining. Here’s the video.

Drunken Negro Head Cookies Video

Every once in a while something comes along that makes you just shake your head and drop your jaw cause you just can’t quite believe it. Then you remember that the average IQ is 100 and it all makes sense again.

Ted Kefalinos is the proprietor of Lafayette French Pastry, a popular Greenwich Village bakery that is frequented by celebrities and featured on shows like Sex and the City. Now Kefalino and his bakery are more famous than ever for a treat he’s recently created that he’s called ‘Drunken Negro Head’ or ‘Drunken Negro Face’. Its not just the confection that people have found offensive, but his complete cluelessness as to why it might be offensive.

He’s been quoted as saying things like:

“Would you like some drunken negro heads to go with your coffee? They’re in honor of our new president. He’s following in the same path of Abraham Lincoln; he will get his.”

The above video is said to be the best on the internet right now. In the video you get to hear Kefalino defend himself and explain himself. The more he explains, the worse it gets. He says on Inauguration Day he called the cookie ‘Obama Head’ cookies. He says it not unfaltering and he doesn’t see the problem with having the cookie.

He added that no one complained about the ‘Dead Geese’ cookies he had last week in memory of the geese that caused the crash of the US Airways flight into the Hudson River.

Some more of his colorful statements are that he’s not a racist because he’s got a brother-in-law who’s Cuban, “my brother-in-law, he’s Cuban.” He says he doesn’t see why Black people would find he word ‘negro’ offensive because its a French word. “It’s a French word. It comes from the French.”

Oh dear. It goes on and on. Check out the video. Is it freedom of speech? Freedom of expression or is it hate speech? Should people be more sensitive or get over it? Would it funny if it were a Drunken Irishman Head cookie? What do you think?
