We are all basking in the wall to wall coverage of everything Obama. There has been unprecedented coverage of politician, not just from the time he became President-elect, but from the moment he declared his candidacy. Its been all Obama all the time. The Main Stream Media (aka: Old Media) bristles at claims they have thrown unbiased reporting out the window in favor of participating in the marketing of their chosen politician.

Earlier today, Soledad O’Brien participated in a round table discussion with anchormen Wolf Blitzer and Anderson Cooper in a discussion of the latest activities of Barack Obama. In particular, his whistle stop train trip to Washington, D.C. invoking Abraham Lincoln’s legacy to mingle with his own that has yet to evolve. During the discussion, O’Brien made an analogy comparing Obama to US Airways pilot Chesley ‘Sully’ Sullenberger, who landed his plane in the Hudson River yesterday, saving all 155 passengers onboard.

Wolf Blitzer recalled “Soledad [O’Brien] and I were talking about this earlier and she was saying metaphorically in some ways, the pilot of that airplane is very much like Barack Obama — that he got the plane down safely, but everybody else had to join together to get out of the plane and pull together to get through that adversity. I thought that was an interesting metaphor.

Of course, they went on to criticize President George W. Bush, who has been nothing but gracious and helpful to the Obamas. Unbiased reporting?

O’Brien was called out during the campaign for reporting as fact that Alaskan Governor Sarah Palin has slashed the state’s budget for special education by 62% when in fact, Palin had increased the special education budget. Regardless of the truth, the O’Brien report stood as fact in the minds of many people. Her attacks on Palin were so hostile that she criticized Palin for running for office when she has children even though O’Brien herself is female and has four children.
