Saxby Chambliss Wins Georgia

Georgians have gone to the polls today for the runoff election for the Senate. This is one of two undecided Senate seat elections that will determine if the democrats will have a supermajority for governing our country. Election results will be updated below.

The State of Georgia held a runoff election today to decide who will represent Georgia in the Senate. The race is between incumbant Republican Saxby Chambliss and democratic challenger Jim Martin.

Both men have had heavy hitters from their respective parties come to Georgia to campaign on their behalf. Chambliss has had John McCain, Mitt Romney and Sarah Palin rally voters on his behalf. Jim Martin has had rappers Ludacris, Young Jeezy and T.I. campaign on his behalf.

Many, including Zell Miller, view Saxby Chambliss as the only man left to stop the far left agenda from taking hold in Washington.

Polls closed in Georgia about an hour ago. At the time of this writing, 1% of the vote is in and Chambliss is leading 67% to Martin’s 33%.

The other Senate race that is still undecided is between Al Franken and Norm Coleman in Minnesota.

We’ll update here as the results come in.

9:00 p.m. – 46% of the precincts reporting: Chambliss 60% and Martin 40%

9:15 p.m. – The Atlanta Journal Constitution calls the election for Saxby Chambliss.

81% of precincts in: Saxby Chambliss (R Incumbent) – 996,846 votes – 59%
Jim Martin – (D) – 690,113 votes – 41%

Chambliss has won the election in Georgia, dashing the hopes of the democrats for a filibuster-proof Senate majority. I guess rapper Ludacris wasn’t that helpful to Martin after all.
