According to multiple news reports, Barack Obama will name retired Marine James L. Jones, Jr. as his National Security Advisor on Monday. He will be one of several cabinet members to be named by Obama on Monday.
Barack Obama is expected to name several cabinet post positions on Monday according to multiple sources. Hillary Clinton will be named Secretary of State, as we reported here. Eric Holder will be the Attorney General, as we reported here. Janet Napolitano will be named the head of the Department of Homeland Security. Robert Gates will stay on as Secretary of Defense.
A less public figure will become Obama’s National Security Advisor: retired General James L. Jones, Jr.
In other posts, I have made some rather pointed remarks on Obama’s appointments to his cabinet, stating that Obama seems to starting a Clinton Sequel Administration rather than a Change Administration. However, I have no objections to the appointment of James L. Jones, Jr. He is a true patriot and American hero.
General James Logan Jones, Jr. was born on December 19, 1943. He is the son of James L. Jones, Sr., who served as a Marine in World War II, and stayed in the military after the war, serving mostly in Europe. James L. Jones, Jr. was raised mostly in France. After childhood, Jones, Jr. attended Georgetown University, where he played forward for the much heralded Hoyas basketball team.
After college, Jones joined the U.S. Marine Corps in 1967. He was almost immediately sent to Vietnam. He served his country with distinction in Vietnam, being promoted to First Lieutenant. After returning to the United States, he continued his service in the Marine Corps, and served both at home and in Okinawa, Japan. He received promotions throughout his early career and went on to attend the National War College in Washington, D.C. Upon graduation from War College, he continued his distinguished career with the Marines in many posts throughout the country and abroad.
He was promoted to General on June 30, 1999. General Jones assumed duties as the Commander of U.S. European Command on January 16, 2003 and Supreme Allied Commander Europe on January 17, 2003, a position he held until his retirement in 2007.
In 2007, General Jones served as Chairman of the Congressional Independent Commission on the Security Forces of Iraq. In November 2007, he was appointed by Secretary of State Condeleeza Rice as a special envoy for Middle East Security.

On Dec 5 the Supreme Court will either allow or disallow the usurpation of both the Constitution and the Government of the United States — easily the most pivotal decision since our nation’s founding — and the silence of the news media is deafening (if not downright scary).

You really gave no reasons; besides the typical raw raw, of why this man is a patriot. Does he serve and defend the Constitution? Or is he another ‘yes man’ to the elite?
That is what will define a true patriot in the Months to come.

I did not see this man deploy his troops in Washington D.C. and effect the arrest of GWB and the rest of his criminal cabal. In fact, his “distinguished” record appears to be more of the same old “just following orders” mentality. I’m afraid I’m looking for more independent thinkers. “just following orders” is not the definition of a “patriot”, indeed just the opposite. The Patriot is one who is willing to stand up for the rights of the citizens and do the will of the people regardless of what his orders are.
No, this is just another “business as usual” appointment by Business As Usual Obama. Change? Still waiting… the only change I’ve seen so far is the color of the occupant of the Whitehouse. The “houseboy” becomes the master.

Jones as NSC advisor. He’ll be needed when the decision is made to declare Martial Law. The Ruling Class have got a military man in there who will follow orders without question. Not good.

Why has no one in the media pointed out that Sen. Clinton can not be appointed Sec of State.
The Emoluments Clause in Article I, section 6 of the U.S. Constitution provides: “No Senator or Representative shall, during the Time for which he was elected, be appointed to any civil Office under the Authority of the United States, which shall have been created, or the Emoluments whereof shall have been encreased during such time.”
On Jan. 4, 2008 President Bush issued Executive Order 13454 which “encreased” the “Emoluments” (salary) of the office of Secretary of State. Hillary Clinton, as an elected Senator from New York at the time and with a current term of office that runs through the end of 2010, would seem to fall clearly within the definition of a “Senatorâ€? under this clause.
If President Obama appoints her to the civil Office of Secretary of State, she would be appointed to an office for which “the Emoluments whereof shall have been encreased” during the time for which she was elected to serve as Senator. The plain language of the Emoluments Clause would thus appear to legally bar her appointment, assuming the Constitution matters to the new President.
Somebody, shout this from the rooftop. This is a blatant disregard of the U S Constitution or at best a lack of knowledge of the law. No I know that the Clintons think they are above the law, but this can not happen.

Ha, just as I thought.
Obama just gave himself even more space on troop withdrawls saying now that he’ll listen to the advice of the commanders.
What a flake !!!

I did not vote for our current President elect, but I am gratified and impressed with his selection of General Jones as candidate for his National Security Advisor. General Jones constitutes a superb choice as National Security Advisor. His experience as a military leader, combat veteran, international leader as the Supreme Allied Commander, Commandant of the Marine Corps, and as director of the Chamber of Commerce Institute for 21st Century Energy, round out a pedigree that also includes undergraduate studies at Georgetown and a degree in National Security Strategy from the National War College. I doubt one would find someone whose credentials include the breadth and depth of his practical and academic experience that exist with this fine man. General Jones also exhibits the qualities of a true gentlemen and diplomat whose ability to “gracefully wear power” place him squarely at the forefront among leaders the nation requires to restore its international standing while maintaining its influence. I personally watched General Jones in multiple venues develop instant rapport with every person he dealt with regardless of station or nationality and take complex decisions that proved visionary in retrospect. He is one the people I’ve found most “comfortable in his skin” regardless of his position. He is a man of integrity, unimpeachable intellect, and possesses moral courage that finds its foundation in a well developed ethical compass that served this country in multiple capacities for more than four decades. I challenge anyone to find the level of experience, measured intellect, and statesmanship resident in this man among the partisan politicals that typically find themselves asked to serve in such positions of responsibility. General Jones earned the confidence of a nation through action and steady application of excellence….not partisanship. He will do magnificently. I wish him fair winds and following seas.

Jones is a solid pick. The far left hates the pick, which is further confirmation to mr that Jones will do a good job. Heaven knows, there are a lot of issues.
