President-elect Barack Obama has chosen his foreign policy adviser, Dr. Susan E. Rice, to be his ambassador to the United Nations. Read her biography below, see photos and watch a video.

Dr. Susan E. Rice has been a member of The One’s inner circle for more than two years. She showed early loyalty to him despite her ties to the Clinton administration, signing on with Team Obama at a time when Hillary Clinton looked all but certain to be the nominee of the Democratic party.

She most assuredly faces tough questioning during confirmation because of her role in American policy toward Rwanda during the 1994 genocide when she was a member of a Clinton administration team that kept the United States on the sidelines while scores of innocents were slaughtered. She has since said she learned her lesson:

“I swore to myself that if I ever faced such a crisis again, I would come down on the side of dramatic action, going down in flames if that was required.”

The One plans to restore the U.N. Ambassador’s post to cabinet rank, as it was under President Bill Clinton.
