Alberto Gonzalez Indicted, Dick Cheney Indicted.
Change has come to Washington a little early, as partisan retributions and witch hunts begin in full force. Read the story of a partisan court case in Texas that resulted in the indictment of the Vice President of the United States.
A Texas grand jury has thrown the book at Vice President Dick Cheney. And for good measure, they are stomping the boot on Alberto Gonzales as well. The ambitious prosecutor for this charade is District Attorney Juan Angel Guerra of Willacy County, Texas, who’s good character is betrayed by a felony arrest in 2007 for evidence tampering, theft, and abuse of power. Abuse of power? This honorable public servant has served jail time twice.
The dubious charges will unfortunately not satisfy the Obama partisans however. No mention of Guantanamo. No illegal wiretapping. No blood for oil, Haliburton, Iraq conspiracies, or grassy knolls.
Rather, this indictment is about the mundane topic of prisoners in Willacy County’s federal detention centers, which are located in South Texas. Cheney abused them, don’t you see. Gonzales too. Cheney’s connection is that he has a mutual fund investment in the popular public investment fund, Vanguard Group, the world’s largest mutual fund holdings owned by millions of us. Vanguard, in turn, bought common stock in the prison companies operating the jails along with thousands of other companys’ stocks. Scandal!
Folks, this is nothing new and is just the beginning of a wave of political prosecutions. Obama has already signaled an intention to investigate the former government, stating in August that he would “immediately review” wrongdoing as one of his first priorities in office.
There is something rather distasteful about one government throwing the last in jail, but this is the way the ball bounces in some countries. It seems that a local prosecutor is trying to curry favor with the incoming administration with a Dick Cheney indictment.
Just never thought we would see it in a democratic country like the United States of America.

on global warming … there is just no solid evidence yet that it is man made.
take for example carbon dioxide … this greenhouse gas increased in the atmosphere during the 1990’s. this led to SOME scientists saying, “aha … man is creating global warming”
however, open a warm can of soda … it fizzes more than a warm can of soda. why? because carbon dioxide is one of the things that gets MORE soluable in COLD water.
sooooooo … it could easily be that the sun made the earth warmer during the 1990’s, and that caused the ocean’s to heat up, and that caused the increase in carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere.

the carbon oxygen covalent bonds trap radiant energy from the sun better than N2, O2, H20 and doing so vibrate at higher frequency releasing more kinetic energy re-releasing the sun’s radiant energy to the other gas molecules. So yes the sun is needed to create global warming of our kind, but as we eemit more co2 and other carbon compounds(aliphatics, aromatics, etc) into the atmosphere we create a greater solar photonic capture rate. Plus it reflects radiant heat from the warming oceans, deforested land, and cattle and herd grazing back into the ambientsphere. Global warming has its own cyclical baseline, but the human footprint has accelerated the cycles and increased their amplitude and is real. As we lose O3 or ozone more solar radiation gets through to the surface which inceases the heating effect again. florinated hydrocarbons as used in coolents and pressured canisters of all kinds depletes ozone and only humans make it. Cows dont, squirrels dont’, sage brush doesn’t, nor does a babbling brook.

lisab, you should look at a graph! The graph makes my point and is more scientific than your back yard sipping on bottled water guess-ta-mitts. The oceans are earths capacitors. the major factor in the human part of global warming is co2 release a direct consequences of our form of colonizing the earth like the bugs we are. Bees produce honey and we produce orange groves and toxic wastes in tandem. Go take a sunday ride down the Jersey sludge canal and you yourself will see parts of my notes here. CO2, capacitors, sludge!

Global Warming is NOT man-made. Scientists have recently proven that cycles of global warming are caused by an increase in solar activity, which reduces the amount of the heaviest and strongest cosmic rays (“muons”) reaching the earth. When the sun is less active, more such rays reach the earth, where they stimulate the formation of low-level clouds, which cool the earth.
Evidence proves that cycles of solar activity correspond DIRECTLY to cloud formation and cool-earth periods. The effect of human-produced carbon dioxide is negligible – and certainly not sufficient to force the ludicrous (and evil) conversion to global socialism the Gore-Bull Warming advocates desire. If solar activity slows, the earth will cool. (Let’s figure out more about how the sun works before dismantling capitalist system that feeds the world.)
Further, evidence shows that increases in levels of carbon dioxide FOLLOW periods of global warming, they do NOT not precede them. Those increases are therefore a RESULT of the warming, NOT the cause.
If man-made CO2 cause global warming, then what caused every warming period in the earth’s past that preceded the Industrial Revolution? Leftists apparently are not aware that the sun and cosmic rays have been around a lot longer than power plants and automobiles.
The cosmic ray evidence also supports the odd situation where the Antartic usually gets colder when the rest of the earth gets warmer, and vice versa. That’s because low-level clouds COOL most of the earth, while they WARM the Antartic. (The reason has to do with the clouds being darker than the Antartic snow, although the clouds are lighter than the general land masses of the rest of the earth.)

If Cheney is only convicted on this, he should find himself lucky. Despite the calls of “witch hunt” by some people, most of the world believes both he and GW Bush have acted criminally and abused power more than once.

What you “expect” is based on faulty science, most of which is financed by government entities which in that case renders the science nothing more than partisan rhetoric.
It is just as “naive” on your part to believe in computer model renditions that are flawed from the start due to assumptive data input and statistics that are nothing more than guess work.
According to Doctor Lindzen, government-funded scientists depend almost entirely upon politicians for their research money. Science, therefore, which is supposed to be objective, is immediatly politicized. When that happens it makes it non-objective.
Then science becomes a thing of popular consensus, which means then that science is no longer science.

you would expect that in a simple closed system under laboratory conditions, but the earth is NOT a simple closed system under laboratory conditions
the upshot of this is that there are far more interacting variables and non-linear relationships involved than can be measured in your “clock-work” notion of the world’s weather system
to give a simple example, if the temperature rises than the amount of water vapor in the air rises, which means cloud cover rises, which means the amount of sunlight hitting the earth decreases and the amount of sunlight reflected back into space increases … soooo the system will cool back down to the prior temperature and perhaps even go cooler
the non-linear feedback loops in the earth’s weather patters are not understood at all by science. notice that while pollution has gone up in the last twenty years temperatures have actually gone down for the last ten.

Global Warming/cooling is a debate that is as revolving or cyclical as the arguments. You can track back for about 100 years the alternating scares. It runs in about 20-25 year cycles, with the scare switching back and forth between warming and cooling. The science has always been so to say “correct� each and every time, but only because of “consensus� agreeing to what ever it is at the time. You can track this in the front pages of the NY Times back to about 1880, and in the Times of London back to about 1870.
Does anyone remember the “ice age” scare in the 60s ? Had we followed suit the whole planet would of migrated to the equator.
