Barack Obama’s transition team named three new senior staff members to serve in his new administration. The announcement came this morning. Mona Sutphen is already working on Obama’s transition team. She has been called to serve as White House Deputy Chief of Staff in the upcoming administration. She also works for Sandy Berger’s consultant firm Stonebridge.




Mona Sutphen Biography

Ms. Sutphen earned her bachelors degree in international relations from Mount Holyoke College, which is a liberal arts womens college in South Hadley, Massachusetts. She later received an M.Sc. in international political community from the London School of Economics.

Sutphen has been a U.S. Foreign Service Officer from 1991 to 2000. She served in the Clinton White House at the National Security Council from 1998 to 2000. Positions she has served in include the U.S. Mission to the United Nations, the Office of the High Representative, in the State Department human rights bureau, and the U.S. Embassy in Bangkok.

Proceeding the Clinton years, Sutphen has been a managing director with Sandy Berger’s Stonebridge, LLC. Stonebridge consults large multi-national corporations regarding international business matters. Check out www.stonebridge-international.com.
