All the votes are counted and Barack Obama wins in a landslide. Well, we can say that for sure about one town in one state, Dixville Notch, which is by tradition the first precinct to vote in the election.

Obama Landslide in Dixville Notch

Barack Obama beat John McCain 15-6 in a historic landslide in the New Hampshire township, after which the good townsmen and women returned to the bar for another round of Venezuelan beer and a roaring singalong of Der Fatherland. They have been doing this in “Dixville Notch” for 60 years since the Truman victory in 1948. That is the same year the town voted 2-1 to change their name from Dixville Knothole. You can see in the picture that Barack Obama himself voted 9 times to break the tie.

By tradition, the town of Dixville Notch gather at midnight on the day of elections to vote. That makes them first, real first. They have 100% turnout every time, according to Rick Erwin, because apparently there is nothing else to do in the town except drink. Rick Erwin is the official Town Clerk for the 21 inhabitants. Guessing he has a few other jobs as well.

So the Obama landslide is on course. Just ask the citizens of Dixville Notch, assuming they have telephone service or a road and stuff.
