Senator John McCain shows his funny side on Saturday Night Live this weekend just a couple of days before election day! Read more about it below, see photos and watch the video.
From introducing Saturday Night Live with Tina Fey as his running mate Sarah Palin next to him, to a fun skit selling stuff on QVC because it was the only channel he could afford to buy airtime on — an obvious poke at the Obama infomercial — McCain was funny, relaxed, and self effacing.
Amazing since the election is only 3 days away!
Even his wife Cindy got in on the act. She was featured in a cameo playing a jewelry saleswoman for a line of “McCain Fine Gold”, an obvious reference to the Arizona senator’s 2002 campaign reform legislation passed along with co-sponsor Democratic Senator Russell Feingold of Wisconsin.
Tina Fey as Sarah Palin even hawked “Palin 2012â€? t-shirts, tellin everyone to “wait until after Tuesday to wear them!”
Later in the show, McCain appeared on ‘Weekend Update,’ the program’s faux newscast. Given a chance to talk about last-minute campaign strategies, McCain offered several possibilities. He said he might try to be a “reverse maverick,” someone who does everything he is told; or a “double maverick, where I’d go totally berserk and freak everybody out, even the regular mavericks.” That was fun too.
Just a reminder to our readers: John McCain is no stranger to SNL. He appeared in May, after clinching the nomination, and he hosted the show back in 2002, where his appearance is now almost ‘cult-status’ for his lampooning of Barbra Streisand’s liberal ways by singing a greatest-hits medley.

I was actually shocked that SNL finally made an attempt to mask their bias. I actually laughed tonite…haven’t done that in years re SNL…I just quit watching when I realized they don’t care about the people that stuck with them from day one.
I had tears in my eyes from laughing at the Keith Obamabot. I might watch again next week, but doubt it…it’s only fun when they play down the middle…not on one side.

SNL was better in the days of akroyd, belushi, murray, chase. rossannadana, curtain. They were more radical too. They had a vision. Now its just a gossip column and personality poking fun of. There is no world view or higher calling.

Cool point of view you have there, did you know that this nearly doesnt happen in some countries at all, although they do similar things but not exactly the same. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YiT_TMFHvCQ
