Anne Pressly died of her injuries on Saturday, October 25, 2008. Our sympathy goes out to the family and friends of this talented young woman who was taken much too soon.

Anne Pressley is currently in the hospital in critical condition following an attack she suffered in her bed at home during the wee hours of the morning this morning. Her mother, Patricia Cannady, had called her to wake her up as she was due to work at 5 a.m. When she didn’t answer her phone, her mother went to her house around 4:30 a.m. She found the young news anchor had been brutally attacked. She was found her in her bed, bleeding from being badly beaten and clinging to life.

Her wounds were initially thought to have been stab wounds, but they were from blunt force trauma.

There was no sign of forced entry into her home, however, her purse was missing leading police to consider the possibility of a robbery gone bad. Her employers are keeping the website updated on her condition and additional information.

Police are investigating the case and have no suspects at this time.

The Arkansas anchorwoman has had her name miswritten in press reports of this incident. She has been referred to as Joan Pressley as well as how it is written here. Her name is now reported to be Anne Pressly.

Anne Pressley Biography

Anne Pressley is 26 years old. She spent her childhood in Greenville, South Carolina, but moved with her family to Little Rock, Arkansas when she was a teenager. She earned her Bachelor’s degree from Rhodes College in Memphis, Tennessee in Political Science.

Pressley started her career at KATV (Channel Seven) in Little Rock, when she was still in college. She started out doing clerical work during the summers and other breaks from school. She was able to fill in as a Production Assistant during her work there which helped her earn the experience she needed to move into positions she reporting and anchoring news shows. She was hired as a part-time reporter in May 2004 and was able to get a full-time reporting job in November 2004.

She has covered former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee’s Presidential campaign, interviewed Bill Clinton, Maya Angelou and Alberto Gonzalez. She is known for having run into Vice President Dick Cheney in a store one day and getting a spur of the moment interview with him while he was standing in an ammunition aisle of a local store.

She has had some bit parts in movies and television roles. Most notably, she had a small part in the recently released Oliver Stone movie, W.

Anne lives with her two dogs, Clementine and Daisy.
