Readers of Right Pundits will remember Iggy’s post about Sandra Bernhard “rape humor”, where she said she wanted Sarah Palin to be gang-raped by New York blacks.
Well, it seems that her mouthiness has lost her a rather high-profile gig. From Malkin:
Bernhard was supposed to be a featured speaker at the October 16 event “Funny Women … Serious Business put on by the Boston-based Rosie’s Place, a domestic violence shelter for women.
Public relations director Leemarie Mosca told AP about the cancellation and said the comments were offensive to many of the victims the shelter helps as well as its staff and volunteers.
“In light of our mission, we don’t think violence against women is a laughing matter, she said.
And it’s not. It was insulting and demeaning to Sarah Palin, which Bernhard intended, and it was insulting and demeaning to those women she supposedly wanted to help. Rape isn’t funny, and neither is Sandra Bernhard.

Score one for common sense. That joke about how Sarah Palin oughta be raped by her “black brothers” woulda killed at the Women’s Shelter.
Sheesh. What a maroon.

I think Rosie’s place did the right thing. People need to think before they speak and sometimes bite their tongues. What Sandra Bernhard said was ugly, not funny at all!

What the mainstream US media is failing to mention is the long string of insults that Sandra Bernhard threw at Palin:
“Don’t touch our old testament, B*tch”
She even called her “goy b*tch”, “shiksa”, etc.
Why do these insults go unpunished? When Mel Gibson made antisemitic comments, they were lapidated in the mainstream media all across the country.
When Bernhard makes similar anti-gentile comments, why isn’t she lapidated in a similar way?
Clearly, there is a double-standard.

Of course there is a double-standard. Hollywood and politicians in general are out of touch with reality. Sandra Bernhard is just like most liberals who shout Freedom of Speech whenever they want to spew their hatred; however, when a conservation points out their view they are chastized for being either a racist, a bigot, a woman hater, etc. I’m not saying that conservatives don’t have their share of stupidity but when I disagree with a liberal and am critized, by petty personal insults, instead of an intelligent discussion then things have gone too far.
The Dixie Chicks are a great example. They wanted to voice their opinion about President Bush and their fans decided not to buy their albums. The Dixie Chicks cried, “We have freedom of speech!” Well, I have that too as well as the freedom to not buy your CDs…just as I’ll turn the t.v. off every time I see Sandra Burhard, Alec Baldwin, Susan Sarandon, etc. In fact, there are not many movies I watch because these actors, in general, throw their one-sided views into everything they do. Tina Fey lost me with her childish antics concerning Sarah Palin.
I have not heard one hollywood “star” that has actually made any sense when they make statements about Sarah Palin. It all boils down to petty jealousy, for whatever reason, and it makes me want to campaign for McCain even more.

Patrick Robertson:
I am Jewish, and I agree with you 100%. What bothers me the most about liberal Jews (I am a Jewish Republican) is how quick they are to insult christians like Sarah Palin, whao are always defending Israel and Judiasm, but they want to be sympathetic to palistinians and muslims, who’d if they had their way, would do what the Nazi’s did all over again but probably even worse!!!!

I think they are Jealous because this woman who is the complete opposite of them, is more well liked and respected by the public than them, and they are still in the mindset of everything being a Jr. High School popularity contest!! They think if everyone loves palin they won’t like any of them anymore, and they are just becoming a self-fufilling proficy by running their mouths publically

Women’s shelter cancels event with…
Rosie’s Place made a responsible decision to cancel an event with Sarah Bernhard, the so-called comedienne who recently made an obscene crack about Sarah Palin (Hat tip: Hot Air, which has more here)…

Hollywood is chuck-full of vapid, self-important egotists promoting their own deviant, anti-American lifestyles and giving themselves endless awards so they won’t feel guilty for participating in them.

fantum seems to be on track here. Having watched a recent interview of Bernardt by a rather manic Pagalia I was struck by Bernhardts immense egoism and fantasy that she was some kind of an artist. I don’t think Don Rickles would ever take himself that seriously, when in fact he is an artist and a gentlemen off stage.
