SNL featured a Sarah Palin skit in their season premier and word is that Palin watched it. Read about it below and see the skit featuring Tina Fey as the Governor of Alaska.
There’s been a lot of speculation about who would play Sarah Palin on Saturday Night Live. Most people thought it would probably be Tina Fey, seeing as there have been a lot of those ’separated at birth’ pictures of Fey and Palin. So it was no big surprise to see Fey doing a pretty near perfect portrayal of her for the SNL Sarah Palin skit on the shows season premier last night.
The sketch also featured Amy Poehler reprising her role as Hillary Clinton. Its pretty hilarious, regardless of your political views.
Its reported that Palin watched the skit while she was traveling from Reno, Nevada to Denver, Colorado. No word on whether or not she thought it was funny. But I’m betting she probably did. She strikes me as having a sense of humor about herself.
The show was hosted by Olympic swimming champion Michael Phelps. Barack Obama had been scheduled to host but canceled. His campaign reported that it was inappropriate for Obama to be on SNL when there was so much devastation from Hurricane Ike in Texas.
View the video below. What do you think of the skit?

They’ve even got this Sarah Palin Baby Namer Generator thing . . . which is kind of funny, but still. personal-space.com/palin

Obama was scheduled to make an appearance, not to host. They have been advertising Phelps as host since the end of the Olympics.

I will say Tina got the voice down and the Hillary bitterness was hilarious.

I thought it was great ! And I agree, I think Palin has a sense of humor and probably laughed. Out loud.

Why was Palin portrayed as stupid? She is surely much smarter than Hillary. After only a small amount of preparation, she carries herself better, speaks better, and would never make such a stupid mistake as claiming she was shot at by sniper fire.

Waldo…exactly what I was going to say. If they played these people exactly how they are, it would not be funny. TF accent was dead on. What a great performance by both!

I would guess she is being portrayed as stupid because she says things like this. “God made dinosaurs 4,000 years ago as ultimately flawed creatures, lizards of Satan really, so when they died and became petroleum products we, made in his perfect image, could use them in our pickup trucks, snow machines and fishing boats.” Not only is her timeline millions of years off but if “God” made them how can they be “lizards of Satan”? The skit was funny. However I did expect them to hit more on her being able to field dress a moose since it seems to be one of her more enduring qualities.

Maybe Hillary could have said something like: ‘I am so happy it took Mother Nature so many millions of years to evolve Bill and me from a pair of monkeys. Ain’t evolution great or what?’ But then again, that does not lift self esteem too much, I guess…

I enjoyed it. I thought they did well with Hillary Clinton acting like a man and being bitter. I think Tina Fey has a very close resemblance.
Leo, she never said such a thing. A blogger made up several quotes from Palin because he thought his regular 20 visitors would enjoy the joke. Besides, don’t YECs usually claim the Earth is between 6,000 to 10,000 years old?
September 15th, 2008 at 2:10 pm
so I guess if it’s 6,000 years ago then it makes sense? Palin is a classic misguided, naive, hard right wingnut. You’re right if they played people as they are it wouldn’t be funny, in her case it would be down right scary …

Palinistoast.
You talk about misguided ?
You still dont get it.
Someone made that crap up, get it ?
The facts of her resume` dont exactly jive with your opinion.
Look at the facts.

Palin smarter than Clinton?
Palin jumped around to 4 different no-name schools before scraping out a Bachelor’s in Journalism from the University of Idaho.
Clinton went to Yale Law.
You wanna run that one by me again?
Tina Fey is infinitely more intelligent than Palin — and hotter, for those just looking for a VPILF. Swap, anyone? Clinton/Fey ‘16.

I personally dont think its too intelligent to believe that just because someone went to some big ole university they are automatically smarter than anyone who didnt.
Ya know, theres people out there that graduated magna maxima egregia cum laude and are still rip roaring idiots.

[...] you didn’t say. Sarah Palin never said, “I can see Russia from my house. Saturday Night Live did. But I bet when we look back at the 2008 campaign, many Americans thanks to SNL, will believe that [...]

She did say she could see Russia from Alaska, and that qualified as foreign policy experience. Hmmmm
OK, and those “big ole universities,” while they may not mean everything, they do mean something. Yes smart people can come out of the University of Idaho, or U of Alaska, too, but if she was one of those people let’s see her transcript for her degree in broadcast journalism. (not released, because it isn’t that good.)
So the school thing was addressed, now you’ll say that GPA doesn’t matter, because it is what they did after school that matters. Then when that doesn’t measure up, you will say it is what they did last. When does someone have to begin to demonstrate greatness to be considered great, last week?
Obama has done it his whole life.
Cheers,
David
