John McCain met with the ladies of The View who played ‘gotcha’ politics with him. Read about it below and see a video of his appearance.
The View hosted John McCain this morning (see the video below). I’m not at all sure how or why this show has become the place to be for whoever is in the news. Its really completely predictable and, I have to say it, boring.
The show has its token conservative, Elizabeth Hasselbeck, and she does a pretty good job of holding her own in that hostile environment. She is courteous and gracious to guests regardless of their views. Meanwhile, the other ladies seem to make no attempt to debate, listen to or understand anyone who isn’t part of their own political paradigm then they attack like a pack of wolves. Honestly, I don’t watch the show because it gets on my nerves that they seem to all try to out shout each other and they all talk at the same time. It gives me a headache.
Today, the ladies seemed to have gotten their scripts straight out of DailyKos. Barbara Walters dropped her usual facade of objectivity and Joy Behar was particularly aggressive. They seemed to want to focus on the fabricated ’scandals’ about Sarah Palin. Behar took off after alleged ‘earmarks’. McCain told Behar that Palin had not gone after earmarks as governor. Behar said that she did. She took ‘a lot’, Behar said! Of course, the Obama campaign was faxing over talking points for the girls to use against McCain and Palin.
Behar even accused McCain of no longer being a ‘maverick’ and walking in ‘lock step’ with …. I wasn’t sure who she was accusing him of walking in ‘lock step’ with. McCain assured her that he is the same person he’s always been.
I really hope people aren’t getting their views from The View.
The point is, the left is out of control with fear and are flailing around in a very unseemly desperation that is just not at all attractive.

In light of John McCain’s decision to follow the same swiftboating path that he so fervidly denounced in 2004, it is now apparent that the Obama campaign has been too kind by simply suggesting that a McCain-Palin administration would be a continuation of Bush-Cheney.
After the scurrilous McCain approved ads lying about Obama’s record, it is clear that John McCain believes that the best way to win the presidency is to lie to the American people and that a McCain-Palin administration would be much worse than the current Bush-Cheney administration.

politicjock - I know you’ve probably just been sent out to leave comments like that in hopes that people will believe it. But, the scurrilous accusations have come from the Obama camp. The attacks on Palin’s family are unprecedented and disgusting on every level.
Obama is nothing more than your average (or below average) South Chicago politician. His persona of bein above it all has crumbled.

Beth, years ago when the View first aired, I and others my age really enjoyed it….made great fodder during a scrabble or euchre game. The last few years, none of us even bother anymore. Occasionally we try, but find it so insulting in general that we just turn it off. These women do not represent a cross section of women everywhere. Walters lost her way when she lied about D.Trump a couple years ago and has gone downhill. I hope EH ends up on Fox :-).

politicjock, Kerry tried to “swiftboat” Bush with a 20 year old DUI a week before election day. It didn’t work. “Swiftboat” is what liberals cry when they lose. Both sides try the same tactics. It’s just one side is better at it than the other because they’re more in tune with what gets to the majority of Americans.

[...] The Republican presidential candidate was bombarded with questions and commentary from the mostly liberal ladies of The View (the exception being token conservative Elizabeth Hesselbeck). [...]

Ms. Gunn, what was the purpose of posting resumes? This isn’t hotjobs.
September 12th, 2008 at 2:31 pm
In one paragraph you go from wild speculation…
Today, the ladies seemed to have gotten their scripts straight out of DailyKos.
…to hard truth:
Of course, the Obama campaign was faxing over talking points for the girls to use against McCain and Palin.
What new information came across your desk during those middle sentences that changed the rumor-mongering to fact? Or was it just another case of truthiness-style wish-makes-truth that seems to dominate the front page of this site?
Ms. Gunn, what was the purpose of posting resumes?
I believe the resume analogy initially came from Rudy Guiliani.

Does anybody else get tired of the same arguments over and over again? I like reading the posts here, because it’s nice to get a conservative point of view (since a liberal point of view is everywhere else). I just get frustrated with people spouting off the same talking points on EVERY post.
Come on libs, come up with something new! You’re boring me!!!

Kudoos!!! go out to the four ladies on the View–Thank you for allowing us to see that McCain-Palin has become a puppet of the Bush Republican Party. I work in the student loan industry and I get calls every day from Republicans and Democrats who can no longer afford to pay their student loans…Each day I hear their cry’s of losing their jobs and homes, this also includes Doctors and Lawyers as well as people who work for Walmart…Parents can no longer get 2nd mortgages to send their children to school. And as I speak today my company has shipped our American Jobs, being paid by American student loan borrowers overseas to India, of which most borrowers cannot even understand their speech.
As a Blue Collar worker I have seen the erosion of the American dream go down the drain with the Republicans in office…I did not decide today to vote Republicans out of office…I decided this years ago…so there is nothing they can say or do to change my mind…and that includes nominating Sara Palin as VP. This election is not about Obama-Biden nor McCain-Palin, it is about my Country, my fellow Americans, and more importantly my children’s future. It is not about whether I believe or disbelieve in abortion…My philosophy is, if you don’t believe in abortion, and I don’t, then don’t have one…Here the Republicans are trying to the control our lives by controlling the decision between a man and a woman and at the same time stating they are bringing democracy to the Middle East. What a joke! They state they care about the killing of unborn babies, however, when these children are born, most of the Republicans in office vote against healthcare legisture. They state they care about killing unborn babies, when they watched men, woman and children die during the “Katrina Hurricane. What a joke they have become!
So go ahead and have your silly arguments about whether you will watch the View anymore, who really cares…I just think these woman, allowed America to see John McCain for what he is, another liar who think he is the one and only great American hero…or as I see him, just mirror image of the Liar George Bush.
September 14th, 2008 at 7:24 pm
It’s obvious that the spoiled elitist members of the view, who have never sacrificed or contributed to America, like McCain has, are in the tank for Obama, while enjoying the benefits from others who have sacrificed and contributed. And while Sherri Shepherd practically offered to drop everything and stump for Mr. Obama … isn’t she the one who couldn’t answer Whoopi, as to whether the earth was round or flat? Kudos to McCain for going into the lion’s den with this useless group. No wonder they support an unqualified inexperienced candidate like Obama. It takes an empty suit to know one.
September 15th, 2008 at 5:18 pm
Let’s face it…McCain-Palin Republican Party is being revealed as the true mirror image of the Bush Republican Party…the party of liars. Wasn’t it Bush who lied us into the war? Isn’t McCain-Palin who stated that she visted Iraq when she did not…Didn’t Palin state that she sold the state’s plane on ebay and stated did not…didn’t she state she told congress “thanks, but no thanks to the earmarks to the bridge to nowhere…” but took the money anyway…Didn’t state that she would meet with the investigators of the Troopergate, but now have decided not to…
My father once told me “if a liar once and liar always.
Remember out of the 5 largest banking institutions 3 have folded.
Get real or have your families stave. Republicans THE PARTY of LIARS AND GREED.

Ms Gunn and Harrison…
First to you MS Gunn…I quite frankly don’t know what your point is behind the resume for each person…A person with or without substance is just that…You can not put perfume on a pig and make it smell any better….There is no substance to the Obama other than he comes from Illinois, so do I..I can go out and get 10 degrees if I wanted, does it make me a better person, I think not….A Democratic platform that does not support the rights of the unborn is immoral and disgraceful…Um, by the way…If you didn’t get it, your VP Nom Biden, was excommunicated by a Colorado Arch Bishop…Geee
Hey Harrison, what papers do you read…these are investment firms not banking…you might want to check into your facts. They have different regulations and laws governing them. In addition, what has the Democratic Congress done since they were in control….I had the privilege to be in DC and sit in a session of congress and the debated Men’s Health and the woopdeedoo of a states sesquicentennial, both brought the floor by democrats…Yours and my tax dollars at work, nice job democrats. Your leader, Ms. Nancy P is a blithering idiot and has absolutely no clue and is NOW starting to feel some heat.. I hope she gets canned… Your democratic leadership, including Obama have done nothing, supported nothing and will do nothing because they can’t…pick a new party…
September 17th, 2008 at 6:57 am
Ms Gunn, isnt this your quote on YouTube..Um, please let me pull out the law in ALL 50 states idiot, Pot is illegal…Want to debate this..So a pot head freak supports Obama, now that figures
“Mary Jane is my friend..as u Can see? I think that it should be decrimilized instead of leaglized.”
I go on
“TRULY DON’T READ THAT MANY BOOKS..UNLESS IT IS NON FICTION! I LOVE READING MAGAZINES, AND BOOKS ABOUT SERIAL KILLERS, AND ASTROLOGY! ALL THE THINGS THAT YOU SHOULDN’T READ ABOUT! LOL! THE BIBLE(NOT ALL THE TIME, LIKE I SHOULD, “BUT I DO READ, AND IDENTIFY WITH THE BIBLE!
So you like reading books about serial killers??? and the bible…IF that is not oxymoron (do you know what that means?) I don’t know what is…How can you identify with the bible you hypocrite when the bible and the democratci platform are at opposites… For 30, I think you need to go back to school and retrain/re-educate yourself and maybe get a job..Invest in yourself…Nobama isn’t going to help you…God help this country with uniformed people like you…

This thread has gotten too vitrolic and is becoming nothing more than labeling and hate speech. What happened to open-minded discussion and civility?
