It is an understatement to say that Governor Sarah Palin has captured public attention. She has arrived on the scene like Wayne Gretzky handled a hockey puck, bursting with renewable energy and deft moves that leave her opponents sprawled on the ice.
The GOP is hailing her as the next Ronald Reagan. The Obama campaign has not figured out how to combat her aggressive style-with-a-smile. The first two lines of attack against her family and qualifications backfired, leaving her as a sympathetic figure but also a heroine for deftly body-checking all comers. She has become an American hero.
Meanwhile you all want to know where you can see her speak, what are her policy positions, and what she is wearing today. So consider this your complete Sarah Palin resource guide, everything you wanted to know and then some.
We will be adding to this collection of news articles as the campaign develops. You can always find the latest on Governor Sarah Palin by checking the link in the left sidebar.

She’s the biggest Republican celebrity in the world…
(ominous voice)
But is she ready to lead?

One woman says…no.

She has arrived on the scene like Wayne Gretzky handled a hockey puck
Interesting analogy, since Gretzky’s signature move was to hide behind the opponent’s net while looking for someone to pass the puck to.

Definitely Sarah Palin is ready to lead since she has more experience than Obama.
The #1 search on the internet today is about Obama’s “community organizing” with a voter fraud group called ACORN. What did he know and when did he know it? I hope someone gets a post up on that topic, because it contrasts marvelously with Sarah Palin’s reputation as a change agent.
Bad week for Obama and it’s only Monday.

The ACORN thing is the #1 search on the interent? Did some news break today?

Waldo (the one that holds the record for the most first-posts) seems to forget two things: 1)Palin is running for VP, not for President 2)Since she has more experience than Obama, if Waldo declares that she is not ready to lead, then much less is Obama.
But I bet he will find his way around the obvious, because intellectual-suicide is rampant in Obamalopolis.

My concern, and by the way hello to Ignatius (someone’s taken my user name), is that there’s no raison d’etre for Palin to be on the ticket other than to be the “pitbull with lipstick.” In order to appear presidential, McCain can’t afford to indulge in unfounded attacks as she has (fact check her speech at the Republican convention), so she rounds out the ticket.
My concern is that she has not signed on to any policy platform or initiative that will convince the electorate (or the dissenting Left) that if McCain isn’t able to complete his presidency, she’ll be competent to lead.
Would she be a public face, a “poodle,” as it were, for those who really wield power behind the scenes of the Republican party?

Waldo (the one that holds the record for the most first-posts)
You’re welcome!
seems to forget two things: 1)Palin is running for VP, not for President
Well Leiberman says not to worry about such questions about readiness. McCain says she’s ready to lead on day one. Even though the campaign is hiding her from press interviews, she still managed to make her first gaffe- a pretty astounding one too.
2)Since she has more experience than Obama, if Waldo declares that she is not ready to lead, then much less is Obama.
Watch this:
Obama– Absolutely ready to lead on day one.
Palin– not sure, but from what I know, no. Haven’t had a chance to see her answer actual questions yet. Just saw her give a party-written speech.
But I bet he will find his way around the obvious, because intellectual-suicide is rampant in Obamalopolis.
Although she is currently having “media-training” to learn how to avoid questions or answer in pat soundbytes, she hasn’t really had a chance to get to know the public and have questions answered. However, this I do know.
1. Got her passport last year.
2. Wants to overturn Roe v. Wade. Anti-choice. Doesn’t make exceptions for rape and incest.
3. Proposed banning books in Wasilla.
4. Kept money for bridge to nowhere and was for it before she was against it.
5. Claims to be anti-earmark reformer but as mayor hired lobbyist to represent Wasilla to get millions in earmarks.
6. Thinks creationism should be taught in schools.
7. Supports ANWR oil drilling.
8. Apparently is against community organizing- helping the poor find new jobs.
I have no idea what her other positions are, but I guess she’s being told how to match them up with McCains– so on tax policy, foreign policy, etc I’ll probably disagree w/her too.

She’s am empty vessel and as soon as informed voters realize it, McCain’s done. Unless, of course, voters want an empty ideologue as presumptive presidential replacement.

Unless, of course, voters want an empty ideologue as presumptive presidential replacement.
Obama?
September 9th, 2008 at 12:05 pm
You said, Beth, that “unless, of course, voters want an empty ideologue as presumptive presidential replacement.”
You bet, Beth. Depends on the ideology and the ability to articulate it and implement incrementally its visions.
And since when hasn’t politics promoted emptiness in its participants?

Why are democrats so angry at life.
I noticed that not one of them is happy.
They are only bashing, why aren’t they happy about thier candidate? They are so busy bashing McCain we haven’t heard anything positive about thier Candidate. NOT ONE THING!!! THEY NEED TO GET A LIFE…MAYBE IF THEY WEREN’T SO UNHAPPY PEOPLE WOULD ACTUALLY LISTEN TO WHAT THEY ARE SAYING…
September 17th, 2008 at 6:56 am
ANOTHER POINT I WOULD LIKE TO SAY IS:
Do democrats actually think that if thier Candidate raises the taxes on business owners that it will not trickly down to the public.
Lets think a minute, when prices of gas go up who is the first to see it. Do you really think that is going to change.
September 17th, 2008 at 7:09 am
Hey Kim,
Let’s talk about the Laffer curve for a minute.
Remember Econ 101? Increasing taxes increases revenues to a point and then additional tax increases actually lead to decreased revenue because of a slowing economy.
Empirically, no one knows just where the tipping point is on the tax rate, that is, the point at which we maximize revenue with the lowest tax rate.
I do know this, however, we can’t continue to do as we have done recently. Our deficit is out of control, China holds far too much of our debt, the dollar might as well be printed on toilet paper, and the economy’s not going anywhere really positive for a while.
Have any econometricians really studied and reported on the competing tax plans of McCain and Obama? I’d be interested in reading an objective analysis.

“1. Got her passport last year.”
So what ?
“2. Wants to overturn Roe v. Wade. Anti-choice. Doesn’t make exceptions for rape and incest.”
Yea, its caled adoption.
“3. Proposed banning books in Wasilla.”
No she didnt.
All she did weas ask a librarian if she did or did no want certain books.
“4. Kept money for bridge to nowhere and was for it before she was against it.”
Yea, after they tried to jack up the price from 350 to over 400.
“5. Claims to be anti-earmark reformer but as mayor hired lobbyist to represent Wasilla to get millions in earmarks.”
Reform, not abolishment. Learn the difference.
Every town has its needs
“6. Thinks creationism should be taught in schools.”
Hell, I think we should teach Satanism just so the little guys know what to look out for.
Besides that, she only suggested it and never proposed any legislation.
“7. Supports ANWR oil drilling.”
Gee, really ?
“8. Apparently is against community organizing- helping the poor find new jobs.”
She is against certain organizations performing this service I’m sure.
I seriously doubt the woman doesnt want poor people finding jobs. Give us a break.

What an absolute joke…this entire website, many of the misinformed, hypocritical comments, and most specifically John McCain’s trainwreck choice for a running mate. This unqualified, unvetted, ill-informed, hardly educated, disgrace to women is an international joke, as if our reputation of being painstakingly ignorant was not obvious enough after electing Bush for two terms.
“She’s a breath of fresh air”
More like a gag of rotten, stagnant fumes (in regard to her dirty politics, hypocrisy of what she says to represent, and out-dated, archaic ideals of faith based politics).

Cheryse, am I to understand that you do not hunt or think much?

hillary worked herself to the bone to get the nomination for the past 8 or 16 or lifetime years. She endured a lot really, plus putting up with billy. Then Sarah gets it while sitting comfortably up in alaska as almost an afterthought simply due to the power of the process. Politics is cruel. If you waited in line all the hours to buy tickets and suddenly your sidelined and booted out and they put in a fresh rested face even ahead of your spot. I think this is what a lot of older workers go through in the workplace.
