Did Governor Sarah Palin, John McCain’s running mate for the Vice Presidency, call Barack Obama “Sambo” and Hillary Clinton “Bitch?” No, but the Obama campaign is secretly asserting it. That’s just the latest in a long line of smears and rumors that Sarah Palin and her family have had to endure from the Obama campaign since being on the national stage for a little over a week. Read more, see photos and watch a video.
A progressive blogger is proclaiming, on the authority of his source, “Lucille the Waitress,” that Sarah Palin must simply be racist, sexist, vindictive and well, downright mean.
It appears that the Obama campaign invented this waitress and is feeding left wing bloggers these bogus and sexist stories. Here’s what supposedly happened according to “Lucille”…
“So Sambo beat the bitch!?
This is supposedly how Republican Vice Presidential nominee Sarah Palin described Barack Obama’s win over Hillary Clinton to political colleagues in a restaurant a few days after Obama locked up the Democratic Party presidential nomination. The Governor, seemingly not caring that people at nearby tables would likely hear her, allegedly uttered the slur and then laughed loudly with the others at the table joining in, according to Lucille, the intrepit waitress.
Dubious and desperate to destroy. When will Obama put an end to the dirty tricks?
This particular smear – racist at it’s core – is becoming insanely viral similarly like other smears Right Pundits has written about. It is clear that sleazy democratic operatives and their lackeys have no intention of stopping the attacks against Sarah Palin and her family no matter how moronic they are. And we all know that using the “race card” has become a regular tactic of Team Obama – here, here, and here.
So to help you keep track of their lunacy check out this roundup – doing a great job of knocking back the Palin Rumors. And don’t hold your breath on waiting for “The One” to “Fight the Smears” on this nugget.

Wow, it’s kinda funny how backwards the “news” here is.
“How do we beat the bitch?” is an actual question referencing Hillary Clinton posed to John McCain during the primary, to which he joked, then responded “that’s an excellent question”. To his partial credit, he did say he respected her. To his shame he didn’t criticize the lady immediately and say “that is an inappropriate characterization and slur of my opponent that has no room in any discussion of our respective candidacies.”

its so crazy. its not like anyone ever accused obama of being muslim or something.
realistically, unless there’s video of this, or a reliable source (other than fair Lucille), it can’t be proven that it was said. reporters are unlikely to ask palin whether she ever referred to obama as a “sambo,” and she wouldn’t admit to it anyone if she did, so it dies on the vine after some more internet fun. this aint mark fuhrman territory.
barrak osama will laugh it off.
oh, woops.

Obama was a Muslim. That is documented on an Indonesian school record.
So now the crazy left is using “Smears” that are based on what? Some unknown waitress named Lucille?
What is her name? What resturant? Unless they have that first they should not publish stuff until they have proof, just like the lie that Palin banned books. It came back that was false becuase Harry Potter books came out in 1998, two years after she asked for the book to be banned. That means that Palin was pshyic because she knew the whole Potter series was coming out before everyone else did.
But as for Obama, he was really a Muslim and that is documented on his school record, meanwhile the Obamnuts are spreading a rumor that a some unknown waitress heard her say something.
We need proof not rumors (smears)
One thing we know is that Obama is friends with terrorist Bill Ayers and Bernardine Dorhn.

A friend of my cousin’s neighbor’s co-worker overheard a conversation in a movie theater between neighbors of a friend of a co-worker of Michelle Obama’s cousin’s aunt’s housekeeper who only wants to be identified as ‘Caramel Rose’ has some explosive secrets about Obama’s taste in …. partners.

No, that was Edwards, Beth. According to Coulter.
And McCain is friends with John Hagee–you know, the famous evangelist who claims that the Holocaust was God’s will.
Little Black Sambo is racist, but it is a good story. It has this redeeming value. The idea of the tiger chasing its tail around the tree until it turns into butter is very ingenious. So, in the story, Little Black Sambo is actually a creative and resourceful person, so maybe it’s not so bad calling Obama Sambo. Wait a minute. Obama. Sambo. Say, those two names are very close, no? Obama. Sambo. Osama. We may be on to something, here.
Stay tuned….

The Obama campaign did not generate this. The great majority of people who don’t support the Republican ticket does NOT condone these tactics. If you read on the Kos link you posted you’ll see that the author was called-out for his b.s. with some very pointed language. Kos doesn’t “delete” diaries unfortunately so stuff like this stays up but so do the comments. Republicans aren’t exactly innocent when it comes to such tactics (see Andy Martin this year, T. Boone Pickens in 2004, etc). God knows their smear merchants have much better fincancing behind them, and truth be told they have been the ones dominating the 2008 misinformation market. One irresponsible pro-D reporter in L.A. hardly evens the field out. Again… nobody on my “left” side of the fence approves of this nonsense, and several of us are asking the author to issue a retraction. Respectfully, BH

I HAVE IT!
OBAMA: OSAMA’S SAMBO.
There, now. Just as bad as what Palin supposedly said, but more creative, no?

Edward Phillips, you have inspired the following palindrome:

Wow – the right wing complaining bitterly about slurs against THEIR candidate? With a straight face too. I haven’t laughed so much in years.

daily kos is to the left what rightpundits is to the right. a place for opinions, not hard facts.
nothing wrong with that.

obama plus biden equals 3/4 a Palin.
September 7th, 2008 at 5:32 am
Then how about she denies it? How about someone who was there stepping up and saying “No” she didn’t say it? That’s what bothers me. No one who was there is denying it. It should bother you too.

Just to make this a more solid story, can we have some solid source to show this statement as true?
“It appears that the Obama campaign invented this waitress and is feeding left wing bloggers these bogus and sexist stories.”
Because if Governor Palin did say these things, it’s very upsetting, but if the actual Obama campaign is making this up, it’s just as bad. Much like it’s hard to imagine her saying it, it’s hard to imagine it isn’t just some random third party putting out the info if it’s made up. Maybe I missed something, if so, I’m sorry, but I don’t see much depth to either side of this story.
September 7th, 2008 at 6:35 am
Interesting, in your lead “Sambo” piece you point out that a blogger is pushing the negative attack of Gov. Palin as a racist. You rightly say that we cannot be sure of the source of this; however, YOU then say that this stems from the “Obama campaign” without ANY SOURCE INFORMATION OR REASON TO SAY SO…
So, the right wing blogs are just as bad as your alleged progressive blogs!!!! No wonder US citizens are sick of politics.
Why don’t you print any of the REAL information out there? Palin’s husband is an Alaskan Separatist and Sarah attended their conventions and sought their votes; she did NOT sell the governor’s plane on E-bay, and sold it for a loss, not a profit as McCain claimed yesterday; her state leads all per capita in earmarks, but now she is a champion against them; Wasilla received over 27 million dollars in earmarks over her tenure as mayor, and was STILL in debt after she left; she was a member of Ted Stevens 527 group; she still has not refused to endorse the indicted felon’s senatorial run; she accepted 200 billion dollars for the bridge to nowhere, did not return the money, and while NOW running for VP, she is against it and saying “no thanks” to the pork. Finally, the McCain campaign says that she does not need to speak to the press and the American people, because it does not SERVE THEIR CHANCES TO WIN. Is it ironic or sad that the McCain camp’s theme is “AMERICA FIRST?” So, America First, so long as it helps McCain win the election; sounds like putting country before country to me (that is sarcasm, in case someone does not get it).
Just a sense of objectivity here would be greatly appreciated.

Stephen, we have a profanity filter that sometimes is a bit overzealous. I think (blogger) McCain instituted to keep Micky and I from constantly cussing.

I think the real interesting question is how much coordination between the Obama camp and the leftist blogs is actually occurring, despite Obama’s call for a softer tone?
Let me give you an example. Over at the Weekly Standard they have an interesting story exposing my favorite lefty lap dog, Andi Sullivan. Apparently, Andi wrote that the former business partner of Todd Palin had filed a request with the court to seal his divorce record. Sully jumped all over this and wrote about how this was the obvious smoking gun. If you are not sure what the smoking gun in reference is here, the National Enquirer wrote a article about how Sarah Palin had an affair with Todd’s former business partner. Of course, there was no actual fact to the article, just your typical Enquirer hit piece. But to Sully and the Kos kids, this was the angle they needed, here was proof that the affair happened, why else would this guy try to get his records sealed?
So, of course, the judge denies the requests, a bunch of folks get a hold of the court records and find . . . bumpkis, her name isn’t even mentioned in the entire file. Drats, foiled again eh.
So, the question the Standard and I have is, who is it that tipped Sullivan off that this request had been made by Palin’s former partner?
My experience tells me that it is the Obama camp themselves who are behind these smear attempts. Can anyone think of a politician who recently became a US Senator after it was he was able to make public the divorce records of his opponent and Jeri Ryan? Many folks think that Ryan would probably have beat Obama if it had not been for that political stunt.
September 7th, 2008 at 7:53 am
Just like there’s no real evidence she said this, there’s also no real evidence his campaign had anything to do with it.
Whatever we decide this election, can we decide it based on the truth this time?
