Meet Susan Bayh, she is potential vice-presidential candidate Evan Bayh’s wife. Read about her below and see photos of her.

Susan Bayh’s husband has been on the short list of potential vice-presidential running mates for Barack Obama. The anticipation of his announcement about his VP has been so intense that a rumor about her getting her hair and nails done has fueled speculation that Evan Bayh has been chosen as Obama’s running mate.

She has been a strong supporter and partner in her husband’s long and successful political career. However, at this point, her activities on the seven boards of directors she serves on, her uncanny ability to buy and sell stock in those companies at just the right times, whether or not her husband owes those companies any political favors and the $800,000 per year she earns for serving on those boards. The problem is whether or not her activities pose a conflict of interest problem for Bayh.

There are reports of Obama Bayh bumper stickers being printed even as I type this. There are also reports that Bayh has been eliminated and will not be the Obama VP.

She said that campaign times make it hard to be with family. Even during campaigns, she made a point of being with her then 3-year-old sons in the morning before they left for preschool with their nanny. She also made a point of being home by 8 p.m. most nights so that she could tuck them into bed. “They want to kiss Mommy good-night and know I’m there before they go to sleep. “It’s the least I can do to make them feel safe.”
