Heather Wilson is a John McCain supporter, has called Barack Obama ‘frighteningly inexperienced‘ and last night appeared on Hardball with Chris Matthews leaving both him and Representative Robert Wexler in her dust. But then, it really wasn’t a fair fight.

Barack Obama has always had a great charismatic style, but the substance has never been there and his inexperience is one of the things that troubles a lot of people. Saying something like there’s a wall between the United States and Europe? We’ve been allies with Western Germany and with Germany as a whole since the end of the Second World War. Heather Wilson Biography

Heather A. Wilson was born on December 30, 1960 in Keene, New Hampshire. She is 47-years-old. She was the middle of three children, with two brothers. Her father was Doug Wilson, an Air Force veteran who was killed in a car accident when she was only 6-years-old. Her mother was a Registered Nurse who remarried a policeman, but divorced him due to his alcoholism.

She was accepted into the Air Force Academy when she was 17-years-old. She joined the Air Force and in 1982 was a Distinguished Graduate from the United States Air Force Academy. She went to Oxford University as a Rhodes Scholar and earned her Master’s Degree in Philosophy in 1984 and her Ph.D. in International Relations in 1985.

She was a member of the United States Air Force from 1978 to 1989. She became Director of European Defense Policy and Arms Control on National Security Council Staff in 1989. In 1991 she founded Keystone International, Inc. to promote business development in the United States and Russia. She served as the Cabinet Secretary of the New Mexico Children, Youth and Families Department from 1995 until 1998.

Wilson was elected to Congress in 1998. She is the first woman representative from New Mexico since Georgia Lusk in the 1940s. She’s also only the second female veteran to be elected to Congress. She serves on the House Committee on Energy and Commerce and sub-committees on Health, Environment and Hazardous Materials and Telecommunications and the Internet. She also serves on the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, is the ranking member of the sub-committee on Technical and Tactical Intelligence and is on the sub-committee on Oversight. She is a member of a number of Congressional Organizations and has received numerous awards for her work for the people she represents, including the Hero of the Taxpayer Award in 1999.

Heather is married to Albuquerque attorney, Jay Hone. They have one adult son, Scott Hone, and two younger children, Joshua and Caitlin Hone. Jay, Heather and their two youngest children are pictured below. They make their home in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
