Obama Dissed by Jesse Jackson Hot Mic.
Looks like Barack Obama cannot make everybody happy these days. Civil rights leader Jesse Jackson tore into Obama with comments he thought were off-air. However the video was presented on the O’Reilly Factor show on FoxNews, July 9th 2008. Drudge broke the story earlier in the day.
So what did Jackson say? In the video Reverend Jackson says that he wants to “cut his nuts out” for lecturing in black churches about the welfare state. The crux of Jackson’s argument is that Obama is not talking racial victimization enough.
Anyone who has carefully heard Obama speak would probably come to the opposite conclusion. Both of Obama’s parents were Marxists and some of the Big Brother attitude toward a care-taking welfare state has seemingly rubbed off on Barack himself.
Most people believe that Jackson’s remarks help Obama by contrasting him with the victimization culture promoted by a few other black leaders. Speculation is already rampant that Jackson’s comments may be a staged event to show Obama is not “one of Us” but that theory seems silly. In only makes sense given that Obama is still paying the price for joining a controversial church and for his wife’s writings at Princeton. Literally Obama clearly is “one of Us” in the black community given the overwhelming support for his candidacy. However, I do not think this was an orchestrated event.
Regardless Reverend Jackson has apologized for the remarks saying they were “crude and hurtful.”
“For any harm or hurt that this hot mic private conversation may have caused, I apologize. My support for Senator Obama’s campaign is wide, deep and unequivocal. I cherish this redemptive and historical moment.”
The worry now is that a Barack Obama presidency could be plagued by racial posturing. Some civil rights leaders like Jesse Jackson will pound on him for not doing enough to lift urban America. Another large segment will continually criticize him for putting individual communities above the common culture by his support for affirmative action programs. Some will do both. Only two weeks ago Ralph Nader simultaneously accused him of appealing to “white guilt” AND talking “too white.”
Such turmoil may be the price paid for our nation’s first black president since we will thankfully have one sooner or later, whether that person is Obama this year or someone else another day. The potential governance problems with having a liberal black president is one of the reasons that pundits have predicted that the first will be a conservative. As always the decision will be up to the electorate.

Maybe he didn’t keep his mouth shut. There is more tape than we’ve heard. I’d love to hear the rest of it.

Being a black women I find it absolutely typical that one (wannabe leader of the black community) is jealous of another. See, Jesse has for years pretended to the rest of the Nation that he was a leader in the black community, but those of us who are members of the black community have always known better. Jesse is out there for Jesse. The reason he is (if I can borrow from the kids) hating on Obama is because he is a more viable candidate as President then Jesse (the baby daddy) was as a candidate for Vice President. Which brings me to my next point–Jesse is upset because Barack (one of the few candidates we call by their first name) has been speaking in the black churches about fathers being absent from their children lives (something that needs to be said), and I am guessing since Jesse attempted to hide his baby maybe Barack stepped on his toes a little. You do have missing fathers in the black, white, and hispanic communities but I young black men are in need of roles models and Jesse you are not one of them….Jesse and Al please report back to a pulpit, I am sure there is a church somewhere that you can fool with your almost Little Richard like tantrums. I was the first….they dont give me enough credit…..they are copying me….atleast with Little Richard it is a legitimate arguement…..you have for years talked about how the black community needed a leader and I believe now you are upset because they have one and it is not you. Now you are being that typical crab in a barrel. Pretending in his face to be supportive, but all the while being a typical deveil in the disguise. I pray for you and yourself esteem.

jsp…being black and the issues you deal with are not in the past…many whites make the mistake of saying get over it, when we still see and have this in our lives today. No, it is not as bad as the civil rights movement, but do not on any level think that we are living without racism and prejudice. I am grateful for the civil rights movement, and yes a lot of it is behind us but laws cannot change the hearts of people, how they are raised, and what they say. I am a teacher and I love all of my students they will tell you that, but I also sometimes have problems because unfortunately, other than the people that work for their families at home, a lot of the times I am the only black adult in some of their lives. Sometimes this is a good thing, but at times some of them especially the more wealthier ones have a problem adjusting, because of how they were raised. You have never been in the car with friends and get pulled over and the officer who would normally ask for license and registration for a headlight being out, tells your friend to get out and stick a gun to his head and belittle him in front of his friends. Then denies it like it was just blacks trying to get over. So with you not being black please don’t think you know what is going on with us. Victicrat–how funny you use that to describe the attitudes of blacks.

It looked like Obama couldn’t stand Jackson when he was shooed off the stage. You could see the animosity in his eyes, like somekind of competition and jealousy. I hear the black on black politics is quite harsn, and in Jackson’s eyes Obama is only half black and thus half white so who is he to lecture black people on how to behave. I have learned not to underestimate the role and obssession blacks have on race, even though most all of them have mixed heritage themselves if you go back far enough. Its so self serving to use it now when once it was so self defeating. But worrisome to me is Obama has harsh calculating eyes even when he speaks with a smile. I worry we may find a different person one day. I am not saying McCain doesn’t have his own faults as we all do but he doesn’t seem to be all that judgemental even if he is in reality very conservative. He has more years of being an accomplished politician and his wife seems to be genuinely a nice positive person without any axes to grind. But age is a factor, though he could be a strategic thinker that doesn’t have to move much. Its trying to watch the American political system work on McCain just for him to keep in the game. But while Obama can smile and put on the charm, too often his eyes belie another person behind that with a lot of issues that we know next to nothing about. I think he’s trying too hard for it and would like to see him just do something genuinely himself.

I do not know why Jackson said what he said about Obama. Perhaps it is because he is jealous. I don’t know, but I do know it was cruel. Although he apologized, the damage is already done, and the comedians and late night T.V. will have a field day with it. I don’t think there is anything wrong with Obama calling on the black fathers to take their place in the home and in the community because it sure is needed. I did read where someone says that Obama is not all the way black, so how can he tell us anything? Well, I don’t feel you have to be all the way black to call a spade a spade. Statistically speaking… he is right. There are more black broken homes than there are white. I see more black women seeking other means of support because many black men left them high and dry. Oh, by the way…I am a black woman. You don’t have to be black to see and know the truth, but you have to have a lot of courage to speak it. Whether or not Obama is 100% black or 50% black, in this society he is considered black because he look it. Hey, I don’t even know if I will vote for Obama because I’m not 100% for all what he believes in, so McCain may get my vote. I’m proud of the man, but black alone want get my vote; however, both of our canidates deserve better. Whomever wins, I will pray for them whether or not they got my vote and will support them because a nation divided will not stand. May the best man win and may God be with them and this nation.

Blacks in America are way to ethnocentric. They put the irish to shame. Fathers should stay with their children no matter who or what. We all see the results everday of broken homes and its deteriorating our country and our quality of life, filling our prisons, and doing no good for anybody. To jackson obama isn’t black enough, to white america obama is black. That is just the way everyone is programmed, no getting around it. Yes Jackson is jealous and bitter, but he is also smart and sophisticated and can see right through obama’s style and the frustration comes through. Don’t forget jackson is another one of these “reverands” of the black community with a checkered past including his start as an associate of MLK. I wouldn’t blame anyone for saying what they really think. Frankly this doesn’t surprise me at all and seems logical really. What is really important is fathers should raise their children so they and society has a chance.

Mia is a victicrat, that’s the bottom line. Don’t know what a “victicrat is? Look it up on google.
Many blacks should have the right to be angry about what happened, it was a horrid past. Key word, past. If you have people like Mia and Jackson running around yelling “victim and playing race card in any and every situation in life, you’ll never get away from the racial issues as all it does is separates you from the human race.
Stop playing victim, honestly. It’s in the past and let’s learn from it. You have to understand that whites, yellows, reds, browns are not after blacks…if you believe we eat, sleep, and drink racism all day and dream about beating the black race, you need to get over yourself. What makes you so special? We have better things to do in our life than sit there and conspire to bring down black people.
In fact, most black people I know, me being one of them… are getting tired of this victimization/victicrat scheme. It gets old. Time to move on…seriously…
