In the typical Democratic meltdown fashion, former Supreme NATO Commander (coolest title ever) took a cheap shot at McCain’s level of experience, among other things he stated:

“He has been a voice on the Senate Armed Services Committee. And he has traveled all over the world. But he hasn’t held executive responsibility. That large squadron in the Navy that he commanded — that wasn’t a wartime squadron,? Clark said.

“I don’t think getting in a fighter plane and getting shot down is a qualification to become president.?

What a breath-takenly stupid comment, even for Wes Clark. Here is a guy who was fired from his job for “integrity and character” issues, spent his entire military career pandering and kissing Bill Clinton’s arse, blowing up compounds in Waco, yet he ran on that “experience” for president. Oh yeah, he kissed a lot of Euro arse for several years too, so I guess he has the international community street cred.

Could someone remind me when McCain was running on his strengths of being shot down or even being a captive during war? Even Clark and the rest of the BDS folks out there have to realize McCain has a wee bit more experience then that, and compared to Obama it’s a no-brainer. So lets talk about McCain’s experience; he was a naval officer for several years, he served one term in the US House of Reps and 4 terms in the senate, including charing several important committees. Does McCain have the most executive experience ever? Hardly. Does he have a crap load more then Obama? Its not even close. Although Obama does offer hopechangery, so he’s got that going for him.

So, its clear that Clark is running for VP here. He is going to be the Democratic token military guy who is going to attack McCain because the rest of the Dems are afraid to do so. I get that, but here is some advice, you need to come up with a different line of attack. I think the one thing that just about everyone admires about McCain is the fact that he stuck around at the Hanoi Hilton when he could have left. The fact that he was on the front lines is very impressive to many people. Making foolish comments like this is not going to win you many friends. After all, there are plenty of legitimate ways you can criticize McCain, try some of those.
