Meet Hillary Andrews who was a meteorologist on The Weather Channel. She was considered one of the most popular personalities in the business. Read her biography and see photos and a video of her below.
Hillary Andrews was one of the most popular personalities on The Weather Channel during her tenure there. Now she’s at the center of a sexual harassment law suit that has the owners of the channel scrambling to keep the details of the lawsuit private. She has filed a scathing law suit against The Weather Channel claiming that she was retaliated against when she complained about sexual harassment she endured through her co-anchor Bob Stokes.
Her claims include that Stokes had exhibited the same behavior with Hillary Andrews’ predecessor and therefore they should have known this was his pattern of behavior. Among other things she claims that Stokes constantly harangued her with sexual come-ons, stared at her breasts and made crude sexual comments to her. She claims he told her that he was sexually attracted to her and “It tortures me when you wear those heels and skirt.” She claimed that he once asked her, ‘Will you lick my swizzle stick?’. When she rebuffed his advances, she claims that he became vindictive and sabotaged her on-air.

Her degree in meteorology would certainly suggest that she is no bimbo with regard to the weather. Most folks reporting the weather have no clue as to the science behind what they tell viewers.

i’m ok with many of her points, but i do not think claiming “he leered at my chest” is grounds for a lawsuit.
that happens every day to basically every woman in the world
May 7th, 2008 at 12:44 pm
lisab - I thought the same thing more or less. Even with some of the more perverted things. Most women deal with that stuff to one extent or the other in the work place as just a part of life.
I *think* it was the length of time she dealt with it, the fact he’d done it to others and mostly the fact she was fired when she complained about it. I *think*.
Still, I think most women look at it as whiny - unless it went over whatever line is out there.

Beth,
i think it was because he did it a lot even after she complained.
if i complained that a male teacher sexually harassed me there would be instant action taken by the school. not that they would remove him, but there would be meetings to discuss the matter, he would be told not to approach me, potentially he could be moved to another school if the allegations were witnessed. we have a one strike rule. once a teacher says “no, not interested” all approaches must stop
not that we have ever had to use that rule … all male elementary school teachers under 50 are gay, …
but … the rule is there if we ever hired a man by accident.
May 7th, 2008 at 1:06 pm
or … the rule could be used when dealing with physical ed teachers and school principals …
some phys ed instructors are straight men, and as far as i can tell ALL phys ed teachers and principals like women
(well, that’s what i heard!!!)

I read the court documents from the case (drudgereport.com) I don’t see her or other women as “Whiny” when they complain about sexual harrasment! We have a right to defend ourselves, and just because “it happens to every other woman in the world” doesn’t mean it is right, or that we shoud have to put up with it.

I consider myself to be staring at the breasts of several of our commenters right now, in a virtual way of course.
May 7th, 2008 at 5:25 pm
LOL lisab! I DO know some straight male elementary school teachers - but I don’t know many! lol
Alanna - You are right. I didn’t mean she was being whiny - I just meant that I think many ppl look at it as being whiny. I guess it depends on what he was doing. In this case, for it to continue even after complaints about him is over the line. Its not like it was one minor incident.

If she didn’t want men looking at her then she shouldn’t put on makeup and wear those tight sweaters.

“I DO know some straight male elementary school teachers”
sure … they are totally straight (wink wink)
we have the cafe test. we take potential teachers to a cafe. if they order coffee, the interview is basically over
if they order a mocha cappucino latte with skim milk and fat free whip cream … on ice … he’s our man

“If she didn’t want men looking at her then she shouldn’t put on makeup and wear those tight sweaters.”
she did not want that man touching her, cornering her, and following her into the women’s dressing room …
all of that is way over the line.
also, once you say buzz off … that should be it … but ESPECIALLY if you complain to the boss. it should have ended right there.

I don’t believe the lawsuit. There’s not much a chest to stare at.
May 7th, 2008 at 11:58 pm
Reverend, the third thumbnail which Beth has kindly provided, clearly shows a reasonably interesting chest accentuated by a form-fitting chamomile shirt in tasteful pastels.

she should of contacted the police if he touched her in any manner first off, contacted a lawyer, the company, got a restraining order and got on cnn headline news and punched that bastard in the nose…..I dont care how many tornados or hurricanes if the weather station didnt do something and court proves they knew, no more watching for me….and also when he stared at her chest she should of said very loudly and boldly , I would appreciate it if you stop starring at my breast!! for being so educated of a woman she sure is stupid, there are many many ways to cut a man in his tracks, you just cant be weak or afraid of loosing your job….trust me if you talk loud enough something will get done , companys dont want someone walking around saying he is always starring at my breast or he is always saying sexual remarks, oh no when a superior hears that he doesnt want it to go up the chain and jeopordize his job, again she could of nipped it at the buid unless she wanted it to escalte so she could sue or she is just mentally weak and stupid.

McCain - #10 - my husband will have a word with you! Did I tell you he was 6′3″ and a black belt? Perhaps I should tell you that….
lisab - most of my son’s female teachers wound up married to other male teachers. His second grade teacher (female) married the man that turned out to be his 4th grade teacher. Another of his male teachers was a Star Wars enthusiast - what gay males likes Star Wars?
At least at my son’s elementary school, the men were straight - i hope (and so do their wives)
As for sexual harrassment - your school rules are fairly routine in all the places I’ve worked. One advance followed by one “NO!” and that is it.
May 8th, 2008 at 5:52 am
Stacy - a good way to cut a man in his tracks would be, “So, are you feeling inadequate today, that you have to look at my chest for excitement?” I can guarantee he won’t get caught looking again…
May 8th, 2008 at 11:55 am
““So, are you feeling inadequate today, that you have to look at my chest for excitement?â€? ”
i don’t think a man whould understand that
May 8th, 2008 at 11:58 am
He understands when a woman mentions him being inadequate - I KNOW these things…
May 8th, 2008 at 2:11 pm
“I KNOW these things…”
oh … i am so sorry to hear that
have you tried ExtenZe - All Natural Male Enhancement
(tee hee)
sorry that stupid info-mercial is on all the time in illinois … and they have all these women on it saying how their men were inadequate …
i could be graphic here … but i won’t
May 8th, 2008 at 2:28 pm
lisab - they have the commercial here too. It is annoying…

That’s too bad Bob couldn’t contain himself, he seemed like a nice guy on camera. It’s certainly not Hillary’s fault for being so damn cute! lol
June 17th, 2008 at 6:42 am
From what I’ve heard Hillary wasn’t fired after she complained but they did move her to a less desirable time on TWC (late night). They also told her they weren’t going to renew her contract which ran out on Sept. 1, 2006.
July 27th, 2008 at 5:23 am
Wasnt she fired for being drunk on the air?
September 26th, 2008 at 1:20 pm
I think Hillary is a remarkable lady. She has courage and is not a whimp
Go Hillary Go. Teach that Bob A lesson to remember.
. Most people will not follow up on case like hers because they are afraid of losing their jobs, which every one needs the company has you over a barrel and they know it very well. Reach for the stars Hillary I”m all for you you go girl amen. Also the weather Channel learned a very expensive lesson I”m sure maybe they will listen next time and it won”t cost them so much would have been cheaper to have fired the pervert.
