Oprah Winfrey endorsed Barack Obama for President but has not been by his side since Super Tuesday. Where is Oprah and why is she missing from the Obama Campaign?
It was just a few months ago that Obama and Oprah were BFF. Oprah Winfrey took a rare step over into the arena of celebrity political endorsements (which are always pretty humorous) and endorsed the Obamessiah. New stars were born in the heavens and thunder clapped their names. An aura of soft shimmering light shone ever so gently around the blessed duo. For a brief shinning moment there was peace on earth and all was well.
Unfortunately, it was only a nano-second of peace and tranquility. The blessed union did not last. There were rumors of a lesbian affair between the two. Of course, Michelle made sure every one knew her wife husband was NOT a lesbian. Since Michelle scares the crap out of people, everyone accepted her decree and that rumor was hushed up immediately.
Obama could kinda use Oprah’s help with the Bible-thumping, gun-totting, xenophobic inhabitants of a Middle American-type state like Indiana. The primary is tomorrow. Next week is the primary in West Virginia and he could REALLY use her help there where even more people thump their Bibles and tote guns and are terrified of anyone who isn’t like them. But Oprah is missing from Obama’s side. OH NOES!!!!!!
I know what you’re thinking. Your thinking that the best businesswoman in the country isn’t going to risk her enormous fortune for the political aspirations of even The Obamessiah! You are probably thinking that it has something to do with all the flak she got when her middle-aged white female suckers viewers and supporters found out she had at one time been one of the worshipers of the Rev. Jeremiah Wright. When those - who - have - made - her - wealthy discovered that she had once been a member of the America-hating, white-people-hating congregation, they flew to her website and forums and proceeded to demand explanations and enlightenment. Oprah made sure everyone knew she had left that church early on. But don’t you think for a second that has anything to do with her conspicuous absence from Obama’s side.
She’s just busy. Her people told his people that she was busy. Obama says he understands that she’s busy.
“It would be very helpful,” Duffy said. “Part of the problem is she is not somebody who can drop everything. In some ways, it might be easier to rearrange George Bush’s schedule than Oprah Winfrey’s schedule.”
I hate to even THINK of all the stuff Oprah’s had to give away to repair the damage from her one foray into politics. Bet she won’t do THAT again!

Oprah is the last person who could help Obama with the evangelical vote. Her recent swan dive into “new age” and rejection of Jesus Christ took care of that. I suspect the Obama camp has asked her to stay away.

It amazes me how liberals and dems bring hoolywood to their side. As if the person doing the endorsement is of some wonderful moral and ethical standard.
Do I need to make a list of these charcters ?
I will if anyone argues with me.
Lets take a look at the 40s and 50s. Guys like John Wayne, Gary Cooper, Sinatra etc.
These guys made pro American movies and didnt run around trashing their country and then go support a candidate in the same breath.
I guess these guys will never learn to bring a spoon when they eat with these guys.

Hey the Oprah endorsement helped win over my mom in the Missouri primary. (white upper middle class Catholic at that!) And no my mom is not easily influenced or unintelligent, she just loves Oprah!

YoungDem - I love Oprah too! I hope she’s able to overcome this. She’s the voice by which all of us (white-middle/upper-class-women) run our lives. Everything she touches turns to gold.
She’s circled her wagons. She’ll be alright - I’m not sure about Obama - but she’ll be alright.

Beth, I hate to take exception BUT I have to comment that Oprah made a choice.
She chose Obama, she chose to take a horse in the race, she has already taken a hit for doing so, and now she seems to be drawing back…for financial reasons.
Hey, she’s a BILLIONAIRE. She doesn’t need any more money…she doesn’t need my adulation…she doesn’t even need great ratings.
SHE’S SET FINANCIALLY.
But she miscalculated the Rev. “Wrong” effect on the white women who NOW wonder just what was SHE LISTENING TO WHEN SHE ATTENDING SERVICES.
It is BLACK HATE SPEECH. BLACK SEPARTIST SPEECH. BLAME WHITEY FOR ALL MY ILLS SPEECH.
HER CHOICE … SHE LOST THIS ROUND. SHE SHOULD HAVE STUCK TO REVIEWING BOOKS!
