Sarah Palin is otherwise known as the hottest governor in the country. The Alaskan Governor has given birth to her fifth child and given the baby a really weird name.
Sarah Palin had her fifth child yesterday! She and her husband Todd Palin named the child Trig Paxson Van Palin, of all things. The Governor’s office put out this statement:
“Trig is beautiful and already adored by us. We knew through early testing he would face special challenges, and we feel privileged that God would entrust us with this gift and allow us unspeakable joy as he entered our lives. We have faith that every baby is created for good purpose and has potential to make this world a better place. We are truly blessed.”
Sarah Palin is generally considered ‘America’s Hottest Governor‘. She basically has it all. She is a former beauty queen with brains. She young, gorgeous, classy, sexy, smart and she catches really big fish (see photo below). She dances, smiles a lot and looks like she runs the government of Alaska with ease and grace.
There have been some serious efforts to get her on the ticket with John McCain as a vice-presidential candidate. She has a lot going for her in that regard. She was born in 1964 which would balance out the age issue. She’s very likable with a 90% approval rating from her constituents. She brings an attractive, likable family along with her which always brings more interest. She also considered a maverick. Her pregnancy pretty much did away with speculation that she might be a vice presidential candidate because many people feel she would not want the job with a brand new baby. Of course, no one knows whether she’s actually been considered or how SHE feels about taking the job. All of the goings-on on the internet has been nothing but speculation and people imposing their own feelings on the subject.
I do think she has the possibility of a fantastic political career if she wants it. She certainly has a fantastic family from the looks of it. Little Trig is her second son and fifth child. Trig? I don’t know, maybe its a family name. People will get used to it.
Congratulations to Todd and Sarah Palin and all the little Palins (Track 18, Bristol 17, Willow 13 and Piper 7). Welcome to the world Trig!!
UPDATE: We have a follow-up on this story thanks to commenter, Virtually Perfect. Mother and baby are doing fine. In fact, Palin was back at work just three days after giving birth. For some reason that makes me think of the women who used to give birth in the fields, pick the baby up and keep on working.
She is obviously one tough lady! Little Trig (thanks for the correction on the name VP!), is doing great. He has been diagnosed with Down’s Syndrome, but the family feels he is just perfect as any of us would. Her oldest son who is in the Army sent a text saying he was so excited to finally have a brother! I’ve included a photo of Todd and Sarah Palin with Trig after the fold.
All in all, it sounds like a great family and a wonderful event for all involved. Honestly, the more I read about Palin, the more I like her. I do wish she would be considered and would consider a vice-presidency. We’ll have to keep our eyes on her. I have a feeling her political career has just begun.
UPDATE 5/29/2008: One of John McCain’s VP advance men, Arthur Culvahouse has been spotted in Juneau, Alaska. This has fueled speculation that Alaska Governor Sarah Palin is being considered and interviewed for the Vice Presidency.

Palin has been one of my favorite conservatives for a while now (behind Bobby Jindal). I think the baby pretty much puts her out of the running, but stranger things have happened.

Just a polite correction on the baby’s name..it isn’t “Twig” it’s Trig Paxson Van Palin. For an update on this story see online edition of Anchorage Daily News. http://www.adn.com/626/story/382864.html

Thanks for the correction, VP. I had it right in the first part of the post so obviously that is my mistake!
I made the corrections and updated the post with the information you provided. They really seem like a great family and I’m so impressed Palin! The more I read about her the more I like her!

Strange days and ways, indeed.. Try living in Alaska! Try being a real conservative who has been fighting the fight for years. Then comes Sarah Palin, RINO of the century, aka Sarah the Incompetent, proposed and pushed through the largest socialistic raise in taxes in the history of the world. She supports the idea that the State can seize the property of private industry if they don’t do what she wants. She has attacked almost the entire Republican majority in the house and senate. She has no idea what a budget is or how to successfully maintain order because she is so inept and inexperienced. Sarah Palin, baby Trig who was born with Downs is more important than your self promoting narssisistic ways, more important than screwing up Alaska’s economic stability for the future. RESIGN Sarah… Your Family needs you Alaska and the world of politics Does Not

Hmmm…well congrats to her on her baby. I have a new baby too and she is a handful. Now that I know this news, I figure she won’t be running for VP. Too bad. Wonder who now? Maybe Jindal, but he isn’t very experienced. Maybe Romney. He isn’t my favorite, but maybe. Hopefully not Huckabee, he gets on my nerves for several reasons.

Hmm. This is a risky pick in some ways. It will be hard for McCain to argue experience against Barack now. Of course, Obama will have a hard time arguing inexperience for Palin.
Very interesting development. Are hardcore right voters going to vote for a woman?

I’ve been a conservative all of my life and only in the past ten years or so have warmed up to the possibility of a woman President or V.P. So, I’m probably one of those Republican “right wingers” that the Liberals profess to know so much about.
I was not in favor of Hillary Clinton for National public office because I don’t like her left leaning policies and ambitions (nor do I like her immoral husband).
I also am not a strong John McCain supporter because he is too liberal for me.
Lastly, I’m still learning what I need to know about Sarah Palin to determine whether or not I share her views, but will tell you that if I determine that she has the skills and vision to hold national office, I WON’T HESITATE TO VOTE FOR A MCCAIN/PALIN TICKET!
The liberal posters do not understand us old pharts in any way!

Wow! This woman is the whole package. I was going to vote for Obama but not anymore. You go girl!!!!!
August 29th, 2008 at 10:36 am
This is what Liberals don’t understand about Conservatives. We don’t vote on sex, or race we vote on principle
August 29th, 2008 at 10:38 am
This is a woman that likes to kill animals. I wouldn’t vote for a Republican and she is no different than Bush.
August 29th, 2008 at 10:51 am
WOW, What a Great Lady, McCain really knows how to get the votes, doesn’t he? He may as well, since Obama is still using the Race Card.If he wasn’t using the race Card, then why was it such a big deal to note the aniversary of Martin Luther Kings speech????Well….Think about it!!! When ever you put your race or color up on a pedestal and think that you won’t be judged for using the Race Card, then you are very confused.Just to look at the names Obama/ Biden,it looks like
Obama Bin Laden.Well, enough said.Just go vote and let them battle it out when it’s over.Peace!!!

Sarah Palin had been on her city’s concil, then Mayor & now Governer of Alaska which is running a City than a State., Her state which boarders Canada on one side and a Sea which many Countries fishing in and A pipeline would of given her knowlege in dealing with forign police right? I would hope as She is also the Head of the Alaskan National Gaurd which is part of our security force she has quilifications with & respect of military personal & she hunts so she’s not a coward by any means yet is level headed correct? She has lowerd taxes while in each of the offices she has & is holding, some by 60% and even cut her own salsry as Mayor. After studing Journalisem & Politics in College she married her sweetheart & help him with their fishing business, took care of home and Children and had a journalist career. She is involved in her childrens lives and Faith based org. Sarah knows what it’s like to have her son enlist and a year later leaving for Iraq. As for the investigation she’s under that guy was probibly fired for the same coruption she’s been cleaning up in Alaska and as for her ex brother in law~ the guy reportedly drunk on the job Taesered his own 11 year old stepson and threatened to Kill his ex father in law. I would of wanted disipline in the form of removing a this person who was a threat to people on (drink on the job) and off ( threatning people and harming a child) the Job. She is pro~life to the point that her and her husband continued to prepare for their fifth child even though they knew he would be born with Special Needs. She may be young but she deffently has had more know how in actually running the goverment of the United State as the VP then most of the media is giving her creadit for so far.

I am very pleased to see Sarah Palin chosen as the vice president elect. A woman, a mom, a conservative, someone JUST like me and my friends! I am a business woman and have worked in non-traditional jobs through my life.
I think Sarah has as much or more experience at being the vice president as Obama…..congratulations!
August 29th, 2008 at 6:49 pm
to Elizabeth and all other women who ‘were going to vote for Obama, but are now voting for McCain’ PLEASE ask yourself what your reason for voting for Obama was and how ABSOLUTLY opposite McCain and Palin are.(I want a woman in the White House too). She will not be at the Oval office making the important decisions, McCain will. As a woman, I am insulted by the Republican political stunt in the name of equality and womens advancement. I believe Mrs. Palin is VERY intelligent, charismatic and has a wonderful life story, but I do NOT believe that makes her the most qualified PERSON for the VP job.
August 29th, 2008 at 6:53 pm
Bev,
The Obama/Biden comment you made regarding Bin Laden, only proves your ignorance. Way to make women look more petty and stupid.
August 29th, 2008 at 8:15 pm
Did anyone else have trouble listening to her while looking at a 4-month-old baby behind her. Any mother will tell you that the goal is to rearrange your life to BE with your baby as much as possible - not sign on for 2 months to 4 years of absolutely LEAVING your baby. Is this family values? As a mother I am horrified and feel defensive of that poor child. This woman is obviously self-centered to the extreme.
August 29th, 2008 at 8:57 pm
Latty - most women have to work for a living. As Governor she’s taken her child to her office with her. She’s not leaving her family in Alaska while she goes to Washington - the family is going with her.
Women DO work for a living. That doesn’t mean they ‘leave’ their babies.
Men have jobs and families - so do women.

As Governor she’s taken her child to her office with her.
Wait, Beth- you’re not for government-supported child care, are you? A literal nanny-state?
Speaking of nanny state– I hear AK’s oil fields are government owned, and the citizens split oil revenue via a dividend. Smells like socialism to me.

Working moms yes.. most of us work now (our economy almost demands that we do to remain in the middle class.) But, becoming the Vice President, possibly President, of the United States is a bit different. Come on, you can’t tell me that it doesn’t bother anyone that she has a 4 month old baby? It bothers me on a couple of levels, first is the feeling I have that as a mom you change your life to be there for your children, especially when they are babies.

What about post partum depression?
